Overrated/Underrated Characters?

Twilight Sparkle and Spitfire seem underrated. I don't think anypony is overrated though. I like all of them.

Overrated: Derpy, Big Macintosh (okay, I like him, but I hate when people freak out about him saying anything other than "Yup" and some of the ships he's in bother me), Gilda.

 

Underrated: Spike, Little Strongheart (I'm surprised by the lack of Little Strongheart/Braeburn shipping), Photo Finish, Sapphire Shores, Princess Celestia, Cadance (she was horribly overshadowed by Chrysalis, and it seems like the reaction to her was lukewarm at best, mostly due to This Day Aria. This is the best singer, people.)

Spike is so underrated it literally isn't funny because no body EVER talks about Spike EVER. I mean my fave's Dash and it is true she is overrated, but Spike is funny and cute and he needs more attention. I think the overrated one is Derpy. She gets like 2 apperances and 1 atlking part and peolpe go crazy. I just don't get it!

Everypony thinks it's Applejack (although she is AWESOME very underrated) I don't think she is the MOST underrated character (of the mane 6, defiantly, but not the entire show). I personally think it's Photo Finish! I smile so much when I see her! But who do you think is the most underrated?

Scootaloo. Not much is really known about her or her family other than she can't fly and she see's RD as a surrogate sister. I'm hoping that they will expand on her character in season 3.

Depends upon in which context... I mean in the main show it would probably be Cheerilee -- she has a very important role as schoolteacher and get about no play whatsoever.

 

If you go with some fanfic as well, Lyra could be a very deep character given the chance -- I love the story of "Background Pony."

Applejack and Scootaloo, for sure.

 

I think the main reason being is that Applejack doesn't really get as much attention as all of the other Mane 6, and I have yet to see a solo song from her. Scootaloo is because she doesn't really have as much a backstory as the other CMC, and the writers have a perfect opportunity to give her a great episode, but we have yet to see that.

 

Hopefully in Season 3.

I'm going to say Spike. He does so much, not just for Twilight but the other ponies as well, we've seen him as an MC, ring bearer at the royal wedding, etc. Not to mention he sends and receives messages to and from Celestia. He's the go to guy in many ways.

I would say that the most underrated character would be Peppermint Twist, as everyone I know seems to just flat out hate her. Sure, her pronunciation can be slightly annoying after a while, (not entirely dissimilar to how Jar Jar Binks's speech pattern can get very annoying, very fast.) but to me there's just something about her that's absolutely adorable. Scootaloo's also pretty underrated in my opinion, but I feel that that could very easily change if the writers would just give her some damn development. I would personally like to see a relationship with Dashie form, something along the lines of mentor/student. I've actually talked with certain people about how such an episode could play out, and feel that it would be a wonderful opportunity to strengthen both characters, as, while Scoots is my favorite filly and Dashie's my second favorite mane 6, I'll admit that both of them are very underdeveloped, and in Dashie's case far too often demonized for the sake of setting up the conflict.

Zecora for me, without a doubt.

 

She appears more often than most of the secondary characters and she's just so nice overall. She was misunderstood in the beggining but now the other ponies can always count on her, because she always has some kind of cure or trick no one ever heard before. Her accent and way of speaking are very funny as well. It bothers me the fact that even Trixie has a bigger fanbase than Zecora. :|

 

Other than that, I think Applejack and Photo Finish are pretty underrated as well.

Granny Smith is underrated, her senile-ness is hilarious and her younger age design is just adorable. I also really liked Cranky Doodle Donkey, I tend to act a like he does sometimes.

How can I forget about Scootaloo *face hoof* She has such a high spirit! But there has been an announcement that their will be a Scootaloo episode in SEASON 3

She's demonstrated the capacity for great wisdom and kindness, but that doesn't mean she's perfect and never makes mistakes. She was pretty quick to get upset with Twilight when she interrupted the rehearsal. Perhaps this hints at the fact she gets frustrated when things aren't done in a certain way or don't go as she intended them to. After all, she seems to have control over most things...so things like the incident with Discord tend to throw a wrench in things, and she doesn't take it very well.

 

I just find her really fascinating from what we've seen and I wish more people did. Most people I talk to say she's boring, though...

I have to agree! i also think that their is alot more to uncover about Tia! I do hope we see her in a more relaxed atmosphere in season 3

Underrated- Applejack, even though i personally dont liker her. And maybe certain background ponies that are awesome like Soarin', Octavia, and Vinyl.

Overrated- Pinkie pie, Celestia, Rarity

Rarity is actually quite underrated, because she has a lot of episodes and funny moments and yet is the least favorite second only to Applejack. And so is Spike; people don't even see him most of the time.

 

Applejack, is of course the most underrated character of all time.

 

And Scootaloo is overrated; I don't get why people think she's underrated, she has more fans and fanon stuff than Applejack.

Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy are overrated. I mean sorry but, their personality is too common and yet has so many fans...

Trixie and Gilda are also kind of overrated, both badly and good, because they only appeared in one episode yet got so much hate and love.

We all have characters on this show that most certainly get a lot of lot of love and others just doesn't seem to get enough. Who do you think is the most overrated/underrated character in MLP:FiM?

 

For me:

 

Underrated: Applejack, for some reason she doesn't get a lot of love as much as the others...

 

Overrated: Probably Derpy, I fail to see the obsession with this character, though she is a cutie. And maybe Fluttershy a little.

I agree i LOVE Applejack and for some reason shes just so underated.

although i dont see the big hype over RainbowDash shes my second or third favorite but seems to be the main icon of the show
