music Your playing style...

Ok, I know a lot of people on these forums play an instrument (I say this because people have their own style on instruments other then the guitar), so I just want to know what are your guys' style. Mine is a combination of Country and Metal and some funk and jazz and a little thrash metal... With fast chord changes and a lot of really fast strumming... So basically say your playing style.

Sure, I'll bite.

Whenever I play guitar, I try to play pretty technically. I usually use a lot of arpeggios, and weird time signatures/polyrythms. My playing is really influenced by the music I listen to.

Another thing I like is to blend in some soft sections between really heavy hitting stuff. Some soft chords and all before diving into hard sections can go a long way to set a nice atmosphere.

I tend to focus on classical styling within a metal framework. Sort of in the spirit of "Ride the Lightning" and "Master of Puppets."

Well... I play the clarinet. Not here's not much you CAN play, but I try instrumentals, some jazz, and the occasional rock medley. I would LOVE to have a Beatles Clarinet music book.

My style of play goes straight back to music I listen to. Blues-infused hard rock n' roll along with heavy metal and such. Shoot I enjoy playing various types of rock as long as it sounds good.

As I played the trumpet, I had to play songs at first that were rather...weird? The songs really had no gene. But as I got better, I started a move towards jazz. Kinda wish I would of stuck with it. :/

Something like a soft strum. Most of the time when I play Guitar, it's just slow. I'm slow-paced on guitar. But I can memorize a solo good. I mean, I can play a Judas Priest style when I want, but I am sure 100% I'll mess up.

Let's put it this way - Jesse James & Judas Priest combo.

[EDIT]: I thought this thread was about Guitar... Oh...

I'm a drummer, but I dunno if I have a particular style

I've always liked the funk style though, and Latin as well. Both require a really strong sense of a groove to be able to flow right, which makes it challenging I guess. Sounds really cool just playing by yourself too, you don't need the rest of the band for a funk or a Latin style beat to sound cool

I suppose when I play the piano, I focus on the articulation of the notes and the rhythm of the song to convey a new meaning. I suppose that this stems from my light training in classical piano and ragtime, with articulation more suited to classical and rhythm to ragtime, although rhythm is certainly important to classical technique, if not more so.

Well I've got two instruments: a piano and a violin. For both, I play mostly classical music with the occasional video game soundtrack and Sinatra-esque and ragtime remixes of different pieces.

I love the use of body language to convey meaning, especially on the piano, but I realize that doing it too much can interfere with the overall meaning of the music, so I try to not overdo it. My favourite passages for any work would be the romantic sections where you try to woo a girl with your emotional language and technical flair (fast notes).

Here's my favourite type of piece based on what I said. Enjoy.

I don't play guitar, and won't have to because my college doesn't even teach guitar so I won't be required to learn it. LOL. I know, that's a bit strange and I don't understand why they don't have guitar. o.O

So I play the bassoon, and currently I'm in orchestra so I play classical and orchestral music. I've mostly played concert band music, though.

As a violinist I enjoy just picking up that lovely piece of chestnut wood and playing away, and I have several different styles I enjoy playing.

My #1 rule; Fast!

I really love to play fast songs on the violin. I consider them a great challenge and a very enjoyable kind to play. To narrow it down a little more I enjoy playing classical, fiddle or even some rock. Primarily though, I enjoy playing fiddle music. (Celtic.)

I don't play an instrument, but I have two family members that do, and the way they do it is.....interesting.

First off, there's my brother, a Black Metal Fanatic (he was the one that brought me over to the black side)

And what he does is.......brutal, for lack of a better word. Here's how it goes...

step one: Take off your shirt

step two: Fling your long hair around a bit

step three: Get your guitar and put the sling over your bare skin

step four: Grab your jet black pick, or was it red, maybe the diamond patterned one?

step five: Hang your head down low, make sure your long hair is touching your pelvis

step six: Play an insanely fast-paced song

step seven: Head bang uncontrollably

Enough has been said

Now, my dad, he plays the drums

step one: play rythms very very loud

step two: Sweat a bucket load

And that's it.

Well, I'm more of a rhythm guitarist who prefers finger picking over the use of a pick (most of the time). When I do play lead, I don't go for speed but, rather, emotion. Think, David Gilmore.

I don't cover much (the occasional vg tab and the mlp theme in finger-style) - I tend to focus on my own compositions/songs, though I'm not sure what actual genre they would fit in...

Well my style really depends on what instrument I am playing. When I play my cello I'm in a real classical style, like Beethoven and Mozart. When I play my drums, I play heavy metal and alternative rock. Finally, when I'm playing piano it really depends on the music or sometimes I play movie themes on the piano.

Usually classical with my orchestra, but on occasion we get to play some pops music. Last concert we played music from Willy Wonka, as well as The Beatles (do not want) and Lady GaGa. Next week our finale will be Wal This Way by Aerosmith! :D

If you're talking about an actual instrument, then the only one I know how to play is the piano. However, I'm not very good, but my style is kind of Legend of Zelda-y. If you're talking about anything to do with music, then my singing style is sort of a mix of alternative and classic rock with a pinch of jazz thrown in.

I don't play guitar :D

I do play the drums though, so if that counts for anything; I like playing rock, jazz, reggae, and most of all funk, because funk is the most fun you can have on any instrument ever. I want to get better though, my ultimate goal is to play the intro of Hot for Teacher, that's in my opinion a drummer's ultimate challenge, and a guitarist too if you think about it

So basically just anything that will let me go crazy with improvisation.

On guitar I really enjoy playing simple rifts and tunes, I much prefer playing on a single string rather than chords.

I always have to have the gain as high as I can get it, its that distorted and electric sound that got me into playing my guitar.

I play the piano. I prefer technique over feelings. (Look mate, you know who's got a lot of feelings? Lang Lang. Professionals have standards.) I have problems playing small and delicate stuff, my hands are very big (I can reach a tenth with ease) and many people have commented on my full and heavy sound when playing f or ff.

I like Rachmaninoff, Liszt and Grieg :3

Huh... You still dare asking that question?

Well, I think you know pretty much what is my style.
