So Are you a "Closet Brony" to some of your friends?

Nah. Quite a few know I like this show. I don't talk about it very much, though. I've said this in previous posts, and not to be picky, but I dislike the term "closet" when it comes to liking a show.

I don't hide the fact that I like MLP at all. If someone has a problem with it, then I guess it's their right, but if they make fun of me personally for it, then they aren't much of a friend, in my opinion. If they ask why I like it, I tell them.

 

Actually, one of my friends used to hate even the mention of MLP and now she's been watching the first season and actually really likes it, so. -shrugs-

I'm completely open about it, but I've not yet told my coworkers. I don't know why, though; they're literally ALL women. (Seriously, single guys, go work at your local craft shop ;D )

 

It's strange, though. My family will tease me, but they're the only ones. Same with the length of my hair. :

I don't think they get that bronies are as widespread as they are. They were fascinated that there was even a forum :I

Eh, I have only told the people I trust, so I'm sort of "half-closet brony" . My closest family and a few friends know. Other than that, no one else does...and it may never be know. Who knows. Maybe I'll get a chance and the situation wouldn't be so "Awkward..." Spike style .

Eh, I'm somewhat similar. Although, if there's a REALLY fun video for others to laugh and they will get it, regardless pony, OR I can show a cool pony song that I think others will like, then on that case I might let it out. After all, laughing or not, they'll probably wonder just how the hell did I get that stuff. I'm not gonna lie. Not with this community or show .

 

Although a funny thing that happened recently is, one of my friends showed me a song that he thought was shown in Digimon...turns out, it was a song by Psychgoth, that was done to make a "Evil Rarity" song...he was disappointed in that he thought it was a great discovery when I told him where did it came from . Then I thought, "This might be my chance! At least I can pass him cool pony songs!", so, I grabbed The Morning After by Tarbyrocks (I know he likes progressive rock, and it isn't silly sounding, so I had great chance EVEN THOUGH, it has pony realted lyrics). He heard it, said he liked it after a certain moment...then never asked again.

 

On that moment, I didn't know whether to feel relieved that he didn't ask and saved the trouble of telling him I'm a brony...or disappointed in that he didn't ask and finally tell him I'm a brony

I only share my bronyhood with my closest IRL friends and all my friends on the internet. I live in Denmark so nobody knows what MLP:FiM is (besides the biggest nerds like me) and absolutely nobody would know what a brony is. Even explaining what MLP:FiM is without revealing my bronyhood would be weird and too awkward so I'll just keep it to myself, at least IRL

I'm not a closet brony, but I'm not very open about it too. A few of my close friends know that I watch a pony show. Most of them aren't internet people and don't know much about they show, and they don't really mind or care that I watch it. Also, if you watch the show and enjoy it there is no reason to be ashamed of it. Since watching a cartoon is not against the law, and doesn't bring harm to anyone, keep watching! Doesn't matter what others think of you watching MLP as long as the two rules mentioned applies.

 

 

Not exactly related, but my school magazine had a small article on how My Little Pony FiM is becoming popular in my school. Damn cool seeing that. I only know of 2 other bronies in my school, but I'm sure there are more

Eeeennope! I don't run around telling them either, but I do wear stuff to show it quite often. My mother and some others even know. Well, they know I like ponies, not the term brony. Don't think they have a clue that exists.

Yup. Only a handful of people know this, so im kinda part closet brony. People say that it's gay and childish, but after showing them some episodes, at least a quarter of my class are bronies so yeah. MLP FTW!!!

I have told a few people . My parents, if someone sees something I drew or something I am watching I won't try to hide it. I am not a Closet Brony per sey cause some people do know. But, most of my friends probably don't. So in lamens terms I am not really what you call a closet brony but I won't scream that I'm a Brony at the top of my lungs.

I am definitely not a closet brony by any means. I like to be very upfront about things I am a fan of, My Little Pony or otherwise. Though, I admittedly have attempted to tone it down because some of my friends started to find it annoying. Haha. Which is fair. I've known people who talk constantly about one subject, and that can be a little tiresome after a while. But I still tend to be pretty blunt about it.

At first I was a tiny bit embarrassed about it, but now im far too open. Almost everyone who knows me knows that I like MLP, and if they dont like it then quite frankly it's their problem not mine. I respect their opinions, and im not going to start bashing them because they dont like the show, or even if they ridicule me for it. Love and tolerate right? I just say to them - "If you dont like the show, that's fine and I respect that, but please dont feel the need to insult either me or the show unless you've actually got good grounds."

Hm, I remember this term "being in the stable" being used instead of "in the closet" for bronies who haven't made their interests in the show public. It's actually pretty comfy in here XP

I'll just enjoy the show and community in the comfort of anonymity. Even if there is nothing to worry about, I just don't feel a need to be open about it.

Weeeell, I don't mind my friends knowing, not at all. The 'coming out of the stable' wasn't really a big thing in my case. I just changed my Steam avatar to Luna and they ask, "Is that a pony?"

"Yes"

"Oh. Ok"

Simples.

Only thing is, I'd feel really awkward if family knew, I don't know why >.<

So I'm basically hiding in the stable in such a bad way that half my body's sticking out, but only the part of my body that has the rucksack my friends recognise.

Another thing is that I am a bit open about it to people who I know for some time. Like I started to show my friend Charles some of the fan stuff Party.mov , ect. I have told him I am a brony along with a few other people. I mean, if someone is like, "Hey, are you a brony." I will ask, "Hey, you." If they say yes, I will say yes. If they say no, I will ask them why do they think I am a brony. I will continue from there

I find people who worry about being in some imaginary pony closet/stable less than pathetic. In fact, pathetic implies an attempt to be something other than that. You aren't scraping the bottom of the trough. You're not even below the trough. You don't deserve to be mentioned in the same sentence as troughs.

 

There may be a day that comes when people will finally let go of gender stereotypes.

 

But the day will never come when fans of My Little pony are subject to actual discrimination.

My best friend knows, after seeing my Rainbow Dash wallpaper but i don't tell people unless they ask haha. I think you (not specifically speaking about anyone in particular) have to re-consider your "friends" if they change their opinion on you based on things like this.
