Thoughts on "Bronydom death"

Here's my honest opinion: Meh. It's like the fandom of a popular band. The band eventually stops, and its fans move on...but one day, maybe they have a revival tour. Everyone comes flooding back. So brony-dom will eventually stop being main stream, and we'll all move on, content. Then, perhaps we will meet up later, with our well-preserved T-shirts and figurines all raring to go.

So, it won't ever die, but it will eventually fall out of popularity.

I think when looking at this is wrong to compare to other "fad" fandoms", since we've reached out far enough we've had dedicated conventions and press coverage I see as having more in common with Whoovians or Trekkies than I do say, the Sonic fanbase.

I wouldn't really know about the rest of the fandoms. All I know is maybe about their popularoty, but I don't know how they are for themselves. Maybe we ARE like Trekkies and Whoovians. Maybe we are closer to something else. Unless a legit science starts coming up for this, I don't think that's a question we will answer...nor that we NEED to answer. :)

Probably yeah. A down in popularity will probably happen at some point, I can agree with this yeah.

Huh, i somehow missed this topic the day it came out. Ah, well. Like many other have said, this fandom aint gonna die any time soon. I know that for a fact. We have proven ourselves to not just be a simple fad that only lasts a year. We are not some one hit wonder that everyone forgets. I know the show aint gonna cancel anytime soon, Hasbro wouldn't cancel a good a poular show. And even if it does our fandom is gonna last much longer. I can garuntee anyone that.

And also i agree we shouldn't dwell on things like that. We shouldn't fear that its gonna end. Also like you i didn't really notice a lot of drama. The only drama we get is stupid futile quarrels with ignorant haters that amount to nothing but stupidness. Somethimes there are events that cause drama, but i know we can push through them. We are a strong fandom, i know we are not gonna let something as insignificant as a little fight tear us apart.

And even if it does... it aint gonna end. Even if everyone stops loving the show for some absurd reason and no fancontent is made and people stop being bronies, It aint gonna die. Wana know why? Cuz i aint gonna let it. Even if everyones not a Brony anymore and hates the show, I still will, i will be the only Brony. And you would probably still be one too, and my friends and many others, As long as there are just a couple people, this fandom aint gonna die. So people should stop their worryin' and enjoy the upcomin' seasons. :)

Also, coming to think about it. I don't think anyone will ever shame me out of liking something, I intend to enlist my friend Dustin as a co-host and become a internet reviewer, so I have no problem with nerd-cred:b.

Out of your whole little speech, THIS is the part I want people to know and to feel. I'm not going to stop being brony, and I think many of us won't, and as long as some of us survive, the fandom will still be there. In less amount may be, but stil standing. Aye, the foundations of this fandom are strong to fall apart. :)

I don't think it will ever truly die, sure..the sites will stop being maintained and go down maybe a few years after the show stops, people will become distanced and move on to other things, the fanbase will all but disappear. but the memories will still be there.

Once everything is gone, and we're old and grey. I'm sure a lot of us will look back, and give a little smile for the good times we had here, in this fandom.

I don't fear the end, I know what will happen, I'm just here to enjoy it while I can. ♥

Well like your own death, the death of the fandom is eventually going to happen. You may as well enjoy it while its still around.

I think the fandom is going to remain around strongly for a while after the show ends, and slowly die down. But it won't fully die ever.. It'll always have a little bit of it left I'm sure.

People will still hate for sure.

Might as well enjoy things while they last!

It makes me sad to think about the end of FiM... But bronydom will last for a long time... I think it will become something like the classic videogames... Mario and sonic... We still don't know when the fandom of the classics will end.. So why think about the end of bronies?

The only ways it could end is:

Angering the fans

Company gets bought and stops the proses...

Etc etc

I try not to think about this... Even wen it all ends... There are still some people who still hold it in there harts

The Transformers started in the 80's. They now have three (with an upcoming fourth) full-length movies that have appeared in theaters.

By this logic, in thirty years Bronies will still exist, and there will be live-action movies starring Shia Labeouf.

MLP, like Transformers and GI Joe, has been a successful Hasbro franchise for decades now. It will endure in some way shape or form, but it will continue to be reimagined with the changing times. If MLP, TFs, and GI Joe exist in 2040, they will be as different from today as today's is from their original 1980s incarnations.

As far as the Bronydom itself...die is a pretty strong word. Virtually all cartoons have their following and it's not hard to find fans of anything online. But the Bronydom will be much, much smaller than it is now. Most of the big and small Trotcons, Bronycons, etc. will be a thing of the past. And many fans will lose interest after MLP is no longer the "in" thing. Many of us will probably latch onto the next hot cartoon with a surprisingly broad appeal. I remember when the Powerpuff Girls fandom was in decline and I never imagined then that I would be a fan of an MLP cartoon today.

Even if bronydom fizzles out which is possible that dosen't mean it will be gone for good, lot of old things that have fizzled out are coming back. A new Thundercats reboot premiered on Cartoon Network last year, and there is a new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series on Nickelodeon there was also one in 2003 but I didn't know about it until a few years after it was over. I say we enjoy it while we can and if and when it makes a revival we enjoy that too, who knows Hasbro might actually be smart about it and try to build on the success of Friendship is Magic into generation 5.

I don't think our fandom will die anytime soon. It'll be here for a long time. Although, if I am wrong and our fandom does die, I will have to find something else to make my life worth living. Either way, our fandom has been around for a long, long, long time. I'm not exactly sure how long but I do know that it has been a long time. So, yeah, I think we'll be around for a while.

The community itself is secondary. It's enjoyable, yes, but we shouldn't take its existence too seriously. As long as there are people who enjoy watching My Little Pony, the fandom will never die.

I wouldn't go so far to say that MLP makes my life worth living, but I will admit that I am going through some depressing personal stuff right now and MLP does seem to help a little. I don't know what it is but there is something about this show that just makes me smile, maybe it is the fact that the messages are very positive or that despite the fact that I was never into MLP as a child it still reminds me of my childhood. Part of that is because of the references to the 80's and 90's and part of it is I do have a cousin who was really into MLP and ponies in general when we were kids so much so that she has made a career out of taking care of them. Either way though there are far worse ways one could self medicate then watching a good quality cartoon that just so happens to be about cartoon ponies.

As long as the fans are still proactive then the Bronydom will never die. Even if the offical stuff stops rolling off production line.

I agree with that, That would be wierd if my life whole life depended on a cartoon but it's positiveness rubs off on me and makes me see the world a little bit more "happier".

Well, when you think about it, Sonic died a long, long time ago.

However, its fanbase and fandom still exists? Amirite?

if your being sarcastic, your failing. That fanbase is still as big as it always was, it's just not "front and center" like it used to be a few years ago.

I would like to say I did. But since I only played the Sonic games from the Genesis, I ain't know jack. But yeah, I've heard that the Sonic fandom is still out there. One of the main defenses in my post. If we grow like this, so big and fast, like other fandoms that are OLDER than us and are still going strong....why should we be any different?

I loved Sonic back then and I still love him today, a couple of recent Sonic games kind of missed the mark but I have never played any particularly bad Sonic games with the exception of Sonic and the Secret Rings of course it was mainly the poor controls that doomed that game. And I was really crazy about Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles when I was a kid, of course somehow I never found out about the 2003 cartoon until a few years after it ended and it is only just now that I am starting to watch it and though the 2012 cartoon is good so far both the 1980's-90's cartoon and the 2003 cartoon are kicking its butt. You should have seen the look on my face though when I found out about the 2012 cartoon though, I felt like I was 6 years old again back when I watched it religiously and had almost all the toys and dressed up as one of the Turtles (I forget which one) for Halloween one year.

I don't think the Bronydom will fully die out for many many years, if ever, even after the show ends. It'll ramp down sure, but I think as long as people feel attached somehow they'll come back to it.

I myself am a borderline ex-brony, the show isn't as amazing for me as it used to be, I enjoy it still, and I greatly enjoy the community, but I just don't feel pulled in like before.

The day the fandom dies is the day I turn into a little girl. We're growing fairly rapidly. My brother whom will not say he's a brony absolutely loves the show and watches it cause it's fun. Even if some are not 'bronies' there is more then enough love of the show to keep it going for a while.

It will end one day, but all I have to say is to just play it by ear. If the fandom will eventually die out, we will have a notice. We will be aware if the show is being cancelled a long while before it does. BURN THAT BRIDGE DOWN WHEN WE GET THERE I GUESS!

Fandoms never just die until the source of it is completely forgotten, and considering how far this community has spread it's roots, I doubt that'll happen anytime soon.

Sure, they do lose relevance but I still enjoy watching old episodes of Batman TAS and Samurai Jack because they were good shows, and so is FiM. New fans will come and go, a few from its peak will stay forever, and as long as it''s not forgotten, it'll never die.

We'll be around for a good while I suspect. Some people are drifting away from the community a bit, but new ones are always joining as well. Plus old ones sometimes come back, they're never completely gone.

Whenever it slows, most likely a decent amount of time after the show has ended, it slows. To echo a sentiment oft stated in this thread, we really shouldn't worry about it. Good and bad things can come and go.
