Preety easy... I'm not a really big fan of discord... *Hate the fanfics about him* So i will be voting for sweetie belle. Hoping for celestia to win overall

This one was a little bit more difficult. Both Sweetie Belle and Discord are characters I admire a lot, and they're both so good. But I'll have to choose Discord, because he's SO evil and hilarious, and I crave those types of villains.

I like Discord, I really do. If this were, say, between him and any background character, the other 2 Cutie Mark Crusaders, or Rainbow Dash, he would've secured my vote for sure. But over time, I have grown into a bigger Sweetie Belle fan than I have lead most to believe, so I must give my vote to the irresistably adorable little troublemaking filly- after all, Discord probably wouldn't have been awakened without her and her friends around, therefore also giving her some precedence.

Now this is what im talking about this is a pretty good matchup character-wise. As much as I like both of them I think Discord edges out

Sweetie just because I think Discord has such a mysterious background. That and he has a likeable personality for a villain. Sweetie Belle is great and cute enough to even rival Fluttershy but against Discord she cant win.

 

EDIT: Never realized we had so many Sweetie Belle fans. I understand though as her moments with Rarity are really what made her grow on me.

As much as I love Discord and de Lancie, how can you rival Sweetie Belle? She's absolutely adorable and has the best voice in the entire show. Plus, she makes me d'aww or crack up every time she has any sort of appearance.

This matchup is hilarious (and well-timed for the apocalypse).  I have to go with Discord here.  Sweetie Belle's great, but she can get irritating, while Discord is the physical embodiment of awesome chaos.  I also love the scene where Discord fills a glass with chocolate milk, drinks the glass, and then throws the milk over his shoulder which explodes as it lands, and Sweetie doesn't have any scenes (that I can remember) that are nearly that great.

Now this is a good match up. On one hand, I love the discorded ponies and Discord resulted in my favorite "Twilight" episode (The Return Of Harmony Part 2). On the other hand, I nominated Sweetie Belle and she's a very sympathetic character who has interesting problems and is much like her older sister in having great feminine qualities.

Huh. Who would've thought it would come all down to this.

 

Anywho, I intially thought it would be an easy contest; Discord's personality and humor make up to be one of the best characters in the series; but seeing as Sweetie Belle is kinda high-up on appearace frequency and importance, as well as having a high count of irresistibly cute moments, I'm not one bit surprised she is holding up her own end in this competition.

 

Regardless, I see Discord winning it all, there's just no way that a character like him can be beaten in this situation.

Sweetie Belle reigns victorious in this extremely close battle. While Discord is the best villain that this show has had, Sweetie Belle has that adorable factor. It's almost too difficult to choose, but for coming up with the CMC's theme song, Sweetie Belle takes this round.

Fluttershy is so popular simply due to the fact that she's deemed so 'cute', in comparison, Sweetie's keeping up with the series' most popular and loved villain for the same general reason. Not the only reason, but certainly an over-arching theme that I've seen in every Pro-Sweetie post thus far

Discord is loved because he brings to light a villain type that's marvelous, the 'omnipotent prankster' that cannot be defeated through traditional means. He also has a charismatic, awesome personality, and a fairly unique design. Chaos is not at all what people love about him as a focus, it's just what he happens to be about.

 

I understand why Sweetie is liked, and I get the cuteness factor, but I still think people run with it out of proportion and let it become a determining factor all too often. I for example love Dash, and think she's adorable, but her cuteness is one of several equally-important factors that I use to measure why I enjoy her over others. I don't feel people do this all the time, especially with characters like Fluttershy or even Sweetie.

Definitely Sweetie Belle! She's just so adorable, and the more I watch CMC episodes they have grown on me to the point where I just downright love them.

 

The Discord episodes were good, and I think the crazy effects of his presence were funny (CHOCOLATE RAIN) but the character himself.. meh. I far prefer Sweetie.

Well, it's now the twenty-third, at least where I am, and I don't see this taking a gigantic turn seeing as Sweeite's been the only one gaining in the past twenty-four hours.

 

Twenty-three, hmm? All these marshmallow fans, they come from nowhere.

 

It's really kind of too bad. It's not so much the idea that Discord isn't winning it all and becoming the winner of this entire thing that's disappointing, seeing as I'd be overly impressed if that happened, but more the fact he, the top villain of the show, isn't even getting past round one simply because his opponent gets tons of brownie point votes for being adorable. Just seems unfair that a character like him is knocked off so early for that reason. People call this a fair a match-up but I can't help but feel a better one might have been a villain VS villain playing field, or maybe a princess or major supporting character like Shining Armor going on against Discord instead.

 

Ah well. Even if you all don't see who is the better character, doesn't change facts :3 Can't wait for the next round.

Like what's his motive to bring chaos everywhere or any other background information. The reason why Discord lost here is because while he is a very badass villain he suffers from being a one shot character and we don't get enough development from him. Like what's his motive to bring chaos everywhere or any other background information. That versus a well developed filly with an irresistible voice and charm with alot of key moments within the series run and I guess that's more than a match for Discord according to the fans here. He's the spirit of chaos xD He needs a reason and back story to do what he does now? This is news to me, friend. Not all characters need some big backstory; Discord's character is personality-based, he was given a time and place where he did something a thousand years ago, and that's all that was really needed. Anything more is individual preference of "I wish he had more to him" and that's all.

 

Pfft, one shot character. We'll see. We'll see.

 

 

I'm not interested in starting some debate on this anyway, that wasn't a rant, it was my concluding thoughts on this and nothing more :3

Okay, I'll tell you: I didn't vote for Sweetie Belle because she was cute. The image thing was mostly a joke, and I already made my choice without it. In fact, I don't find Sweetie Belle very cute at all.

 

I do love Sweetie Belle because of the relationships she has with the rest of the cast. She's the most feminine of the cutie mark crusaders, which creates an interesting dynamic with Scootaloo, and she seems to be one of the more sensible ones but never speaks up enough. And she might not speak up enough and she might be such a doubting Thomas because her older sister is Rarity, who takes a critical eye to everything, including her own sister. She's both positively and negatively influenced by her, but its clear that no matter what her flaws are, Sweetie Belle looks up to her big sister and loves her. That's nice to see. They get mad at each other a lot, but still love each other. As someone with two sisters, I know exactly how that feels.

 

And that's why I voted for Sweetie Belle.
