I can't see any meaningful contribution for Vinyl Scratch in terms of the actual show, other than perhaps exchanging a line or two with Pinkie prior to a party, being hired to do the DJing and all that.

 

Then again, prior to The Last Roundup I would have said that Derpy would never be named on screen nor would she ever speak, so we all know how good my predictions are.

We do need more Vinyl, but I don't want her to speak. Derpy is the same way; I liked her as a cameo, and even though I love Rarity's VA playing her; I'd prefer Derpy as a silent cameo. Although, Derpy was pretty amazing; and I love her personality...Maybe I'll just have to see more of her first...

Lauren Faust wassorta still is the main producer, that just means she supports the show. Writers write the show, storyboarders sketch out the cartoon, and animators animate the cartoon.

I hope they put her in, but not giver her a speaking role. What they did with Derpy was just amazing, but it won't be nice if they start putting in everypony that the fans ask for.

'On Season 1, I was involved in every aspect of every episode. I gave direction and/or called notes and/or personally handled revisions from story conception, through scripts, through design, record, storyboarding, animation and through to musical score. On Season 2, as "Consulting Producer" I was involved in story conception and scripts only (with the exception of "The Return of Harmony," which I saw through record and storyboards.) I saw roughly the first half of the season through to final script, and the second half I only helped with concepts and attended the story meetings. My part in the show ended in April 2011 and I am no longer involved in the show.'

Personally I'd give Doctor Whooves the lines rather than DJ Pon3 because in all honesty, Doctor Whooves looks like he has the potential to appeal larger audiences than DJ. I'm speaking in terms of giving a fair number of background ponies lines, because if they start to give every pony lines, it would kind of mess up the dynamics of the show.

I don't think Vinyl should have a speaking role yet, but you MUST DEFINITELY give her more air time. Could at least put her as a DJ in a party episode.
