If she does have a certain amount of OCD in regards to certain things, it would go along with her crafted persona. This is what she thinks a regal pony like her should act like in these circumstances, therefore she does it.

 

I wouldn't really call it authentic OCD though, at least not in the same manner as Twilight's is. It's more a desire for neatness and organization, which doesn't necessarily require her to be compulsively obsessed with it.

 

Agreed 120%. I wouldn't normally be so liberal about making a claim like that, but I know someone who claims to be OCD, and are exactly as you described. I've never seen them be compulsive or obsessive, but they are extremely annoyed by anything not neat or organized.

The other reason why I say it's not really OCD on her part is that we have seen her willingly dirty herself on more than one occasion when it is necessary. For example, in Return of Harmony Part One we see her hand over her umbrella to Twilight, even though the chocolate milk is still pouring down. Then there's her rubbing garbage all over herself in Party of One. Someone suffering from OCD in regards to neatness would not be capable of doing these things. The compulsion would be far too strong.

I have no idea where it specifically came from. I would assume its because of her off-white colour and her soft huggbleableness

Upon her first appearance, I knew for SURE I wasn't going to like her. I don't like the snobby, preppy type of girls. I am a total tomboy, and I refuse to wear makeup or dresses.

 

A season and a half later, Rarity is now one of my absolute favorites. She is kind, generous, and genuinely cares about her friends. She makes it a point to be supportive and think of their needs, showing much more thought than some of the other ponies. Sure, she has flaws, but she seems MUCH more aware of her faults and tries to overcome them, unlike a certain other rude, hotheaded pony I won't name! I think that is what sets her apart from the rest, for me-- She actually tries to acknowledge and overcome her flaws.

 

Rarity is awesome!

 

Also, she is much easier to color in the coloring books. Some of the others are more challenging.

Rarity has best songs imo, because she has the best voice. I liked her from the start, often I even like her more than Rainbow Dash, it keeps happening more often over time. She just has CLASS like nopony else. If I had the money, I too would wear suits every day and drive a Merc. (Barney Stinson?) Awesome.

Rarity is not the best pony ever, but she's pretty funny. Her character was best in "Suited for Success" out of the ones I've seen. She also seems to be a really nice singer!
