Welp, it's one of these people that searches for things to rant about, uses no logic (read: shouts loudest to win argument), disregards everyone elses' argument, and has a hissy fit when no one joins their side of the argument.

 

It could also be that the OP is just trolling us. I mean, the OP is causing a disturbance based on a character that we all love.

I am proud to call her Derpy and not Ditzy, and not only because actual charaters from the show now call her Derpy, but because Derpy is basicaly the brony flag-flyer and we gave her that name right at the beginning of bronies. What is there to tolerate about her? Her dawwwwable-ass eyes? Her genral happiness with life? OR IS IT HER SHEAR AWESOMENESS IN GENRAL?!

 

We love her, but there is no need to tolerate the charater that we, as a community, created and nurtured. If bronie's didn't exist, she wouldn't exist, she'd just be a computer glitch in the first episode, and that would be the end of it. Why would we think bad of such an achivement?

 

 

EDIT: Just properly read what you posted. She doesn't get the same kindness that other ponies do? No... She gets more, if anything...

Derpy is well loved in the community... She's the icon of the Brony community, because we love her! Derpy is just the way her eyes are, it's the way she looks... Ditzy refers to being dumb... I think even I'd be happier being called Derpy than Ditzy... Even though I AM a ditz and do not go derpy... She's lovable because since the animators have permanently made her derpy, she's become more and more lovable... Any teasing that goes on is friendly! I guess I can kinda see what the OP is trying to get at. I think he's talking only within the show's universe that Derpy was tagged with an unfair name because her eyes derped that one episode and for that, is being called Derpy. He's not talking about Hasbro or fanon giving her the name, but the ponies inside the show (since Rainbow established her name is Derpy).

If you have to "dig deeper" for the meaning of a word then that meaning is not it's common use, for example ironic does not mean amusingly coincidental, but that is the common use. I have perused (to clarify I looked through thoroughly, somehow perused has come to be used as the exact opposite of its meaning and implies a cursory search which is not at all the meaning I found when I dug deeper) this topic and it seems that this last post has finally struck upon a specific issue, though the size of this topic doesn't seem to match the enormity of the issue (enormity of course in the correct sense referring to something heinous on a grand scale, and the enormity of the issue being none) we seem to have a plethora (over abundance, not just a lot but too much) of posts arguing about weather or not we are actually arguing about the topic at hand. Now to the point, I have a friend, let's call him "trash bitch" we will call him that because that is his nickname, some may find this offensive but we know he understands that it's all in good fun and that we don't mean any harm, if it offended him we wouldn't call him that because that would make us jerks, the point being that calling someone by a nickname doesn't mean that the name is hurtful, it is all about context. Now I will use the word pristine in an unusual manner to impress the crowds, this comment is pristine (not free of erroerers of course, but the deeper meaning of pristine, it it's original form).

 

sorry about the rude antagonistic parenthetical statements but it is just a bit unfair to tell members of the community that named Derpy Hooves that they don't understand the meaning of the name they gave.

People that wish to censor freedom often hide behind words, like 'offensive' and look for underlying meanings to words. But such points are moot and only serve to derail the real issue.

 

What they fail to realize is that Derpy is more than a word, a name, or a character. She is an idea, that friendship transcends what a character looks like, or what his or her name is, or how smart they are. And ideas cannot be censored. She will always be Derpy to us, no matter what.

Ditzy Doo will always be Ditzy Doo, that's not ever changing. How would you like it, if people called you "Moron" instead of your real name. You wouldn't like it. Sure HASBRO nods to everyone else but not to us.....Like we're the group that's left off the Christmas list. Ditzy Doo is her original name they should keep it, her eyes, everything about her before HASBRO went. *POOF!* "You are now Derpy, you're eyes are fixed, and your voice is fixed. Go forth and not insult people." Insulting someone is what happens on the highway. Like giving the finger, or calling someones mother fat. Not because the character is Blonde, Cross-eyed, clumsier than ever, and sounds different. If that "offends" you get off your butt, get in your car, and go see a therapist. Because you have issues. You know I swore that I would never tell anyone this. But I'm going to have to! I am a disabled person. And when Ditzy Doo got an actual part in the show. I wanted to cry my eyes out, because I was so happy. The disabled background pony that I grew to love. Finally got a role in the show if only for 5 minutes or less.

Ok the term ditsy means flighty and easily confused. The original meaning of derped is to have done something clumsy. This meaning has since been misused by popular culture to imply stupidity. Derpy is clumsy. She has a lazy eye and is a klutz. She is a wonderful character and acts with the best intentions. It is normal of cartoons to have a character that appeals to schadenfreude. Her klutzy antics fit such a niche in the cartoon. Her character is well made and appropriately named.

I am pretty sure derpy's eyes have always been that way. From the first time you see her even. So it didn't change after a while. The point about peter and patrick is excellent, and really the way i see it derpy is just a cartoon character used to add a litle humor.

 

I can understand why you would feel bad andd islike whats happened here, but its just a cartoon. Its not real. Also its the way the character is. If i have said anything that contradicts itself or doesnt make sense, speak up because im on mobile and in a hurry. But anyways, people love her for who she is and when they changed her, the brony community exploded. I for one didnt enjoy that epidemic and dont want to see it again.

 

I know where you are going with this, but it is just a cartoon intended for little children. If you look at the bright side, Derpy may actualy make children with disabilities feel better about themselves because they know they aren't the only ones. Also, it probably wouldn't cros the childs mind, but it also shows that profesional companies aren't ignorant or indifferent about such things. I could easily be wrong about that, i know, but i am pretty sure when they made that character they werent trying to offend anyone.

I didn't understand a word of it! I have a brain injury so while I think like an adult, 50% of the time. The other 50% is thinking like a child. When the whole Ditzy war started, I had to get new violent video games to vent my rage, for HASBRO, and the stupid S.O.B's that were stupid enough to be offended by Ditzy. And not Peter from Family Guy and others like that!
