Zain 32 March 30, 2013 Share March 30, 2013 Which ones do you like, and do you know if any of them distribute out of state? I'm always on the lookout for new ones, but it's hard to even come by reviews of good ciders to track down. I'm not sure of their distribution, but J.K's Scrumpy from Almar is good (tastes like real, fresh cider from a mill, but with booze!) and Uncle John's has grown quite a bit, doing a variety of ciders and apple infused wines. There's also Blackstar farms which I've had a few times, though I don't remember how it was anymore, and B Nektar does some cool Meads and cysers. Woodchuck and Strongbow are easy to find of course, and while kinda too sweet for me to drink all the time, I still love them, and I know they were an intro to me into other ciders, as they hopefully will be for others. I'm sorry, I get evangelical, but I love the Beer and Cider in Michigan
TailsIsNotAlone 3,697 March 30, 2013 Share March 30, 2013 One odd fact about me: I can't stand wine. I like beer and hard liquor, but I never tried a wine I really liked. I don't know if I'll ever acquire a taste for it. Can anyone recommend a good entry-level wine for a guy who doesn't like red? Maybe fruit wines would be a better way to go... 1 "Human beings fascinate me Being just the way they are..."
Hawk Moth 390 March 30, 2013 Share March 30, 2013 I don't know much about alcohol, to be honest. I like Sam Adams, Bud Light, and Newcastle beer. I love rum but can't stand the flavored stuff. I haven't had much whiskey, but I like what I've had. Also I hate all vodka. What sorta wine didn't you like? Red and dry? There are plenty of sweeter wines out there, a whole range from boxed wines to some pricier stuff. Whites with some dry acidic bite to them, or sweeter whites. I was going to try to describe it, then I found this (it's way more descriptive and simple) http://www.primermagazine.com/2011/learn/visual-guide-to-wine-types I'm personally not a wine expert, but I've had enough to be able to say that if you don't like dry reds, it's not hard to find a totally different style Also, ask your local wine store owner! I'm a novice, but I always learn something when I pick up a couple bottles, and it's satisfying supporting the small shops who know their stuff. Hawk Moth 390 March 30, 2013 Share March 30, 2013 I don't have the time or patience to learn about wine. It's a hobby for people with too much time and money, and even if I fit that I doubt I'd find wine all that interesting. The only thing I care about with alcohol is taste. I've never drank to get drunk. Plus if you get into mixing drinks, you're in the business of making people happy @TheIronHugo I don't get into wine that much, but it's worth dabbling. I really push for beer and food pairings, but to me, the best way to enjoy a great steak is with a great red wine.
Steamgamer27 170 March 31, 2013 Share March 31, 2013 Since turning 20 last year I've been trying out different kinds of blended alcoholic drinks from time to time. Had my first drink at eighteen. That time I've just consumed mainly vodka and gin. So far I've tried a Cherry Vodka with Grenadine, Sprite, a dirty shirley. Ruby red mojitos, mmm~ that first taste was great! And a pineapple margarita. "Look upon me, Equestria, for I am Rarity!"

Allosauridae 54 April 1, 2013 Share April 1, 2013 So a bunch of us bronies are 21+ Lets discuss our favorite beer or liquor or anything with alcohol in it! Personally my favorite beer is the oh so cheap Bud Light, and right now my favorite liquor is Jim Beam Red Stag. MGD is my beer... I can tolerate other ones... but MGD is my beer 'poison' As for liquor... toss it to me as long as it isn't VODKA! Home-made Apple Pie shots are AWESOME! (so is the Char-Bar's) Otherwise I love whiskey, tequila, brandy, rum, Dr McGuillicudies (MINT- in my fridge now, I love to slam that) Thing is, YES, I absolutely love alcohol... love to drink... I mean hell, I'm from WI... the drinking state! I however do not drink much... I grew up around bikers... saw how out of control you can get or how easy you can forget things... Dad barely drinks anymore... and he was a major alcoholic... (still will always be one but he is 99% better now) I can drink a LOT before getting buzzed or drunk but I only let it get to buzzed... I want to be in control or I get real skittish & scared depending where I'm at. Sad thing is, I'm almost 24... I drink less often than my sis who just turned 21... and she drank 90% more under age than I did... she WILL be an alochalic with her lack of control... sad thing is, I can drink her under the table so fast... Throwaway19573639385 764 April 1, 2013 Share April 1, 2013 (edited) Aww, I'm 19 but heck, I'm gonna join anyway! Since the legal drinking age here in Holland is 16, I guess it wouldn't pose a problem. My favorite beers are Brand, Hertog Jan and Bitburger. Although, Hertog Jan would be my poison, I just love the taste, it isn't too bitter but not too light as well. Anyone here ever had a Guinness? Wonderful way to start a vacation! I don't really have a definite favorite liquor, but among them there's tequila, whiskey, vodka, jaeger, rum. Especially Jaeger and rum! I love those drinks. Vodka's great to get started though, if you can hold your liquor. All in all, I love drinking alcohol! Heck, I don't even mind getting drunk, there's no better way to go home than to be on the edge of being really drunk. I do get that drinking alcohol can make things get out of hand quickly and if you don't know how to control yourself alcohol can even be life-threatening. So everyone, drink responsibly and act responsibly, I've seen enough people going to the hospital already and I really don't want that to happen to one of you guys. Twinhead B 482 April 1, 2013 Share April 1, 2013 Beer is disgusting. Tastes like what I imagine sewage would taste like. I like whiskey myself, and I prefer the usual lot: Jack Daniels, Jameson, etc. I'm also partial to vodka. As long as you know your limit and stick to it... and don't drive that's all that really matters. So many get so stupid when they get drunk... apparently our college town near here is "thinking" about shortening bar time b/c of those idiots... but idk how much truth is behind that seeing as a 2 faced witch screamed that at me -_- I grew up with people getting so drunk they would hurt themselves passing out... or get in huge fights.. damage things... people think that toilets were coming alive and where monsters... lucky for some of us we learned the easy way... not the "hard way" Old Name was Dekanogi'a

Drinking is a huge problem here in Holland, although the news makes it so much less worse. I've seen so many underaged kids drinking themselves into hospital, especially 14 year olds. I don't know why but so many people here drink way too much, sure it's fun to drink and getting drunk is awesome and all. But I don't get why they don't see that they are becoming part of the problem themselves. Some get way too aggressive, seriously, there's not one night where there hasn't been a fight. But in all, drinking and going out is still fun, as long as you know your limit and go to the right places. And yea, driving while intoxicated isn't such a great idea. TBH, it's not even fun, I tried it once and I won't ever again.
Allosauridae 54 April 1, 2013 Share April 1, 2013 I'm from Wisconsin... drinking here seems like a "sport" to some... I've seen so many high-schoolers really mess up... sneaking out to drink, tip cows, cause car accidents... all from booze or excessive use of drugs. I've seen many fights as a kid from alcohol... its not just one state or country with this issue... it's all over. Some just don't know control or didn't learn from a hard childhood... rather learn that way then doing something stupid. I usually wait a while after I drink.. only once did I drive when I shouldn't, dead roads at that time but I didn't like it... never did it again... too many possible accidents with other drivers and deer here. My sister is becoming one... she's too stupid to listen to anyone... she's a lot like bio-mother so she WILL become a drunk... no way to reason with stupid sometimes.
