I'm definitely interested, but I don't know about picking it up sight unseen.  I don't want to be spending money on it if it's full of stuff i already know.

It looks pretty good as reference material.  BUT... I share the fear many others have where most of the 256 pages will be coloring book type pages....

 

It would be nice if they included in-depth analysis of the ponies, but I highly doubt that they will.  They will have some basic bios, but I don't think it will go deep into it.

I've got this bad boy on preorder along with Season 2 and the collected paperback volume of the first arc of the IDW comic. One of those three comes out on the day I graduate college, and I'm honestly more excited for that than graduating.

Also am I the only one that hopes the cover looks more like the top half and that the bottom half with luna and celestia is like an advert? I want the cover to look solid and not choppy.

To me the bottom half looks a bit like an obi strip (I can't think of an equivalent English term), i.e. it'll be a paper section that can be removed. If not then it's a bit of an odd design if you ask me.
