Things people say to you, that unintentionally hurt

When people tell me I'm handsome or strong, I'm used to people making fun of me by saying stuff like that, I only mentioned two things but there are a lot of things.

 

So each time when somebody tells me I'm handsome I just feel like they're trying to hurt me and they probably were most of the time or always. But I have sort of become immune to it. But not completely, I know some might say so not trying to hurt me. But I don't see the difference anymore, so maybe some did mean it. Doesn't matter to me, I don't care what people think I just care about cars and ponies. Also family and friends on forum. But who knows maybe people mean it, if so they might be hurting me unintentionally.. Although my confidence has been rising, maybe I'm not so bad.

 

I usually take most compliments as a way to hurt me, so yeah.. I'm just so used to people being sarcastic towards me.

 

I actually usually think when people talk to me they are trying to insult me. I'm really quiet all the time, so when someone talks to me I automatically think they are trying to insult me. Maybe some aren't but most people are.

I've had my voice insulted a few times, but not really commonly, but I guess thats more a direct insult.

 

I dunno, most of the time people insult me and its on purpose if they do.

 

I guess the fact that I get sometimes bugged for not having a GF is kinda offensive. 

 

Also I've got insulted before for having my purity ring(If you don't know what it is look it up ) in a couple ways.

Sometimes if someone in real life criticizes my art, it kinda hurts me. (And I don't mean constructive criticism, things like 'Why did you do that?' Or 'That's not even good') It's kind of annoying, but it's usually by other girls who like to draw as well, so I usually think they're just jealous.

I also don't like when people say things like 'Pwned!' when we're playing video games and I lose. I'm kind of a sore loser...

For me I have had time where people constantly kept asking hey why are you always so quiet? I overheard one person think I was a werido for being quiet as I am. I despise it because that is who I am I enjoy solitude and its my way to relax. There is nothing wrong with being quiet at times.... Sigh you can never please people in this world.

My situation is kinda different, people think I'm sadistic and depressed. Except I do joke around quite a bit, so people end up calling me "bipolar".

I hate it when people make assumptions on me, because when they do they're always wrong about me. I can't be myself around most people for fear of being shunned, and that hurts me a lot.

Well, let's see:

 

One time during Christmas dinner, I was standing there playing on my Kindle.

One of my relatives shows up, looks me up and down, and states "Hey, you're finally starting to look pretty."

He then said "I always thought of you as geeky." I am pretty sure he was referring to the Soul Eater shirt I was wearing. 

It was a little awkward, luckily no one heard.

 

Then, another time, when I was going to order a Portal 2 shirt (I now own), I showed my dad the picture so he could buy it for me. He said, "That shirt is only for skinny people." I just stared at him and walked away. I did get the shirt though, so meh.

 

My family can be rude, which is why I barely talk to anyone in real life.

Oh yeah, this one's quite recent.

 

So my uncle had come over for dinner one night, and I was getting the ice cream out for my family. I had asked my mom where this one type of ice cream that we had was, because I didn't see it in the freezer and she replied saying that she had eaten it. I joking said to her, " And you're always complaining about your weight!  " Then my uncle came in and said " Well what about your weight?" He meant it in a funny way, but that really, really hurt. I've had eating disorders in the past, so you can image the impact that that had on me. 

 

I'm still hurt by that, even if he didn't mean it.

In my opinion if you say something to someone and they get offended, then you shouldn't feel bad if your intention was not to offend them. It's not your job to make sure other people get offended, it's their job to realize that they probably didn't mean to hurt your feelings but if they did, you should say something to them like 'hey I know you may not realize it but I was offended when you said this' and then of course you would be like oh ok I didn't realize I'm sorry.

The only reason why I actually talk to my cousins and relatives is because they force me to. They say if I "have my own world" (aka, Being alone most of the time), they would put me to therapy, like my relative's classmate

Just recently we were reading a book called "Night" by Elie Wiesel, and being the class dictionary (sort of), my teacher called on me to define the term "invalid", and I replied absentmindedly with "useless people." My teacher pointed out that the way I said it was rather offensive, but that really never crossed my mind when I said it.

I honestly don't know. I'm extremely apathetic towards most things in life, and it depresses me when people call me out on it.
