Doctor Whooves aka Time Turner

My absolute favorite background pony is Doctor Whooves, aka Time Turner. It's one of the reasons I became interested in MLP because I kept seeing things about a Doctor Who easter egg type character in MLP, such as on Hot Topic and Pinterest websites, and wanted to see more of it because I love Doctor Who! I get really excited to see him, and  I've been trying to keep track of which episodes he is in.. (I really need to write it down). But am I hallucinating when I see him appearing as both a Earth Pony and a Pegasus pony? Has anyone else noticed this? Who else loves Doctor Whooves aka Timer Turner?! If not, who is your favorite background pony?

Just saying right now, Derpy is my favorite background pony, but I like Octavia, Vinyl Scratch, Lyra, and Time Turner as well.

 

Time Turner appeared as a pegasus in one or two episodes because it's easier to take an earth pony and throw some wings on it than make a new design altogether.

But honestly I have never watched a single solitary episode of Dr Who new or old but that doesn't mean I don't like the character. But then I pretty much like all the background characters

Doctor Whooves is my favorite background character next to Derpy, and I have his inclusion in the fandom to thank for my initial interest in Doctor Who.

In, I think it's The Best Night Ever episode, they show different ponies who seem to represent the other regeneration of the Doctor. They all have the same Hour Glass Cutie Mark, but the 10th and 11th are the regular tan colored pony, same mane color but different styles, but 11 shows up wearing a top hat. Then the 3rd and 5th regenerations appear as blue ponies with different hair styles that are similar to their matching Doctor. So I don't think that whether he appears as an earth or pegasus pony has anything to do with his regenerations, good theory though. Maybe they are just being lazy about creating new ponies

I haven't seen any Doctor who episode of any season (but I've heard the 10th doctor is the best one). But I think all are real nods to Doctor who and not some random background pony that the fandom thinks looks like other character.

My personal favorite background pony is Octavia, though I do like Doctor Whooves.  This is mostly because of the radio-play series 'Doctor Whooves and Assistant' (if you haven't seen it yet, I recommend that you immediately set aside 5-6 hours, go on Youtube, and watch (listen to?) the ones that have been released so far (episodes 1-7)).  A similar series, 'Doctor Whooves Adventures', is also fun, though I prefer Ditzy/Derpy as the assistant over Twilight.

Lyra is best background pony   Although I do love Dr. Whooves. I admit I wasn't really interested in him until I was walking in the mall one day and I saw this t-shirt in some comic store:

I like the fanmade episode centered around Doctor Whooves. He also makes a great character for banners - well, I think my signature makes it clear what I mean.

 

God, I love photoshop.

 

Other than that I do like some other background ponies more. Colgate and Symphony as example.

He is, without a doubt, one of my favorite pieces of fanon we have. The Doctor is now as inextricable a part of the fan established lore of Equestria as Starswirl the Bearded being the pony equivalent of Gandalf and Berry Punch being the town drunk!

 

He brings his own quirky sci-fi to the world, which actually gels rather well with his typical antics. No better is this expressed than in the radio shows he stars in and the two MAGNIFICENT voice actors that bring his character to life!

 

 

 

I first saw the Doctor years ago and thought, "Cool show, I'll watch it later." Fast forward to now when bronies started referencing him. 

 

"Oh yeah! I forgot to watch that!"

 

Hellooooo Netflix!

 

Being a brony made me into a Whovian so the two are already pretty inseparable in my mind.

Despite having zero personality in the show I love Ditzy and Time Turner because I always imagined them as the Doctor and his trademarked companion.
