Im a huge fan of the Sonic series. Sonic has had so many great games that its hard to decide which one is my favorite. The 3D Era has gotten a bad rep, but I gotta say that I like nearly every single Sonic game to date. (Yes, even Sonic 06.) I wasn't born for the 2D era, but I still played Sonic 1 - Knuckles with some other Genesis Sonic games. Sonic is currently my #1 point of intrest and favorite VG series.

Whats your opinion on Sonic?

My reaction to Sonic:

Somewhat joking. I like the games on the Genesis and dreamcast. But I really hate the fanboys that seclude themselves from every other game franchise and go out of the way to defend it.

For example, I was talking to a kid at my school, and he said Mario and Zelda sucked because you can't run very fast, and that Sonic could.

Yeah...

I love Sonic. Even the 'crappy' games.

I just hate the fandom...can't they just shut up? Personally, I get tired of running around and bashing into stuff.

But whenever Sonic tries to mix it up a bit (Werehogs, swords, time-shifts, upgrades) it's declared a "crappy" game.

Want to know a totally un-secret? I loved playing as the Werehog, even if it's the dumbest name ever. Button-mashing is the greatest.

I've always wanted to work for the 'idea' department for the games. But I've decided that'd be a stupid idea, because the stupid fans only like repetitive nonsense that we've all played.

But what do I know? I'm just a stupid kid.

I've played the older games, (Sega Genesis, CD, you get the idea), but have little experience with the newer games, and that experience is Sonic Generations. I've played tiny bits of the other games here and there, but Sonic Generations is the only one I've actually fully played.

I'm not saying the new Sonic games suck, they just aren't my cup of tea. Call me an idiot for saying this, but I think some of them move -prepare for it- too fast. Hard to see incoming objects when moving at over nine thousand MPH, but if you take your time, you run out of time. My opinion might be different if the camera was better.

Now, the classic side scrollers, I love. <3

I am a massive Sonic lover. I love the games, I love the cartoons/anime, I love the comics. I love the games people don't like, I love the comics that people who like the games have a tendency to not like simply because it's not a part of the game canon.

I really wish I could backorder the entire comic series from Archie and I wanna try other Sonic comics as well like the Fleetwood comic.

Hi there!

I love almost all of the Sonic Games, except Shadow the Hedgehog and Sonic 2006. Also, the cartoons! I never really got into the comics though, I don't know why..

My favorite Sonic games are the Genesis/GBA ones, and the Adventure ones. I group Genesis and GBA together, since they have identical gameplay. The Rush series was pretty cool too, but I was disappointed you could only play as Sonic or Blaze.

Okay, this is my opinion of the main Sonic games, as a fan of them, okay? Just to let you know what I think in brief notes. I will say however that no matter what happens, the music in the series is ALWAYS awesome and no matter how bad it gets, I only kept coming back to Sonic for the fantastic soundtracks.

--------------

Sonic original trilogy - Awesome classic stuff

Sonic CD - Perfection

Sonic Adventure - Start of serious stories (not the best thing for Sonic in my opinion), trying new gameplay, more or less pretty good.

Sonic Adventure 2 - Levels specifically designed for characters, better-built but stories turning less good with character models somehow worse.

Sonic Heroes - Actually pretty fun with a good gameplay idea

Sonic and the Secret Rings - Terrible terrible controls and surprisingly not good music (as far as I've heard but I'm willing to hear anything that's not the theme song)

Sonic 2006 - God. Damn. Terrible.

Sonic Unleashed - Not bad, not great, good gameplay ideas, much better sense of Saturday Morning-style story that feels more appropriate for Sonic, Werehog combat system has potential but enemies/THAT ONE SONG are annoying

Sonic Colors - Really goddamn fun, hilarious as hell and genuinely fun gameplay with the Wisps

Sonic Generations - Love it to pieces, Classic Sonic is perfect (in my opinion), Modern Sonic uses Unleashed daytime level mechanics which I love and enjoy, final boss is hard to tell if you're actually DOING anything or not and therefore terrible/confusing.

--------

That's just my opinion though.

Never played a Sonic game, but I've heard a theory:

Sonic moves at measurable speeds, right? And Mario and friends can keep up with him in the Olympic Games games? Mario can stop bullets by jumping on them...maybe all the Mario games are just in slow mo. Just a theory.

I used to play quite a lot with the Sonic games on Sega genesis, i was mainly a Nintendo guy back then, but those games were the greatest. One of my favorite stages is Casino night. Good memories.

Let's go downtown.

My favorite Sonic game will forever be Sonic CD. And for once, I actually did a 100% run (which was more annoying than what it was worth). It's more fun just to play the game normally. If you end up time travelling, then so be it. The race against Metal Sonic is still one of my favorite boss battles too.

I have never played Sonic 06, and I don't want to. The Sonic games on the Wii didn't hold my interest at all, except for Sonic Colours (which was neato). Sonic Unleashed (360) was alright, but I hated the Tails sections of the game, and werehog sections were okay, but the gameplay was a bit too slow for those portions. Sonic Adventure series was pretty awesome. Sonic Heroes was alright. Shadow the Hedgehog was... okay. Sonic Generations was a blast, and I loved almost every moment of it.

I've loved the Sonic series for as long as I can remember. I even liked 06 aside from the loading times and glitches on characters like Rouge and Knuckes. My favorite characters are Shadow, Silver, and Blaze. The only game I have basically hated with all my passion was Sonic and the Secret Rings(the controls were aweful and the story was a bit lackluster). I was a little annoyed with the length of Generations(I almost beat the story in about 3 hours) so I took it back and used the points I got towards Uncharted 3. I'll probably buy it again when it goes down in price and my anger cools down a bit.

So I'm NOT the only Sonic fan brony person out there! I was introduced to Sonic when i was like... um... hang on... 8. I was introduced to the series at 8 years old. In 2003. So it's a pretty nostalgic series for me. As I said on another topic, I own almost every game except for the bad ones. Like Sonic '06. Plus I don't have an xbox 360 so the point is moot. Anyways, I flippin' love the series. In fact I even enjoyed a lot of the other bad games besides '06. I LOVED Sonic R, I enjoyed Shadow the Hedgehog to a point. Heck, I even like the crap game gear/master system ones.

It's ironic how I fall just to get back up again...

I've been a sonic fan since I was an little kid. I don't plan on leaving the fan base any time soon. He may have gone through a bad time for games not to long ago, but I think that as long as Sega continues to improve on what worked in Sonic Generations there is hope for him yet. Its a classic franchise, and one of my all time favorites.

I was a huge Sonic fan growing up, from the games and the cartoons to the Archie-published comic books (which I've heard is still in print, which is quite impressive.) I played most of the 2D classics growing up, and Sonic Adventure/Sonic Adventure 2 I thought were fantastic. In fact, I still own both games (as well as a Dreamcast) and still play them from time to time. Sonic Heroes wasn't the best game in the world, but I still found it quite enjoyable. Also, the GBA sonic titles were all pretty good, especially Sonic Advance 1 and 3, my favorites, as well as the DS titles. For me, things started to go downhill with Shadow the Hedgehog. Don't get me wrong, I loved Shadow in Sonic Adventure to and Sonic Heroes, but I just could not get myself interested in the game. Then, Sonic '06 happened, along with the whole voice actor shake-up. It just wasn't the same Sonic I remembered anymore. So, I left the fandom. I still play Sonic from time to time (I play Sonic CD on my Android Tablet often,) and from time to time check up on any games that are being made. I have yet to play any of the newest titles, however.

I have heard some of the newest games are pretty good, though. The cutscenes I've watched from Sonic Colors were quite amusing and funny; they were to me reminiscent of the oldest Sonic cartoon (you know, the one where the infamous "pingas" came from.) So, maybe I'll pick it back up someday.

One last thing: I also love the music from the series, especially the 16-bit era, and the other aforementioned games. I have every song from every Sonic game I've played in either mp3 or directly ripped (.gym. .vgm), so at least in that respect, I'm still crazy about Sonic.

I'm technically kinda young to have grown up with a Genesis, but I didn't get another full-blown console until the special edition Pokemon XD Gamecube was released. I got the first Genesis when I was in kindergarten, and it was already a past gen console. The Sonic games were always my favorites, and I used my allowance money to buy every Sonic game released for the Gamecube. Of those, the Adventure series re-releases were my favorites.

I loved the few episodes of The Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog I watched, I liked Sonic X, and I used to be subscribed to the Archie comic.

I haven't played Sonic games in a while, but I'm definitely interested in buying Colors and Generations.

I absolutely adore the Sonic series. I'm not just talking the games, I'm talking the cartoons/anime as well as the comic. I love everything Sonic. <3

Of course, I'd never be the type to say I love Sonic but not other series as there are other series I love as much, if not more, than Sonic such as Kingdom Hearts, Final Fantasy, Wild Arms, Baten Kaitos...:P

Back to Sonic: There are a lot of the games in the series I haven't played and I haven't seen all of Sonic Underground or Sonic X (Though I've seen a considerable amount of Sonic X) and haven't read the whole Archie Comic and none of the Fleetwood comic but I'm certain I know more about the Sonic series in general than most people on this forum. I am a MASSIVE Sonic fan.

Btw, I'm for SonAmy as much as I am for SonSally.
