The Valentine's Day Topic

For me valentines day is just a horrible day and event within the social callender. Before someone asks yes i am single but that has nothing to do with my hate for the event. My main dislike for it is how buissnesses abuse it for their own profit. In the run up to valentines i have to stockpile on items as anyhing associated with chocholate or has flowers and the colour red on it goes up in price by about 65%! Then theres how the media and others force it down our throats. Throughout the day the radios only play love songs, TV only play romatic movies/shows and peolpe around you talk about it like it was back in the war. And then finaly it's just a bad day in general. Because of the days theme all public sectors of life (malls, shops, public transport, etc) are all packed with 'luvy duvy couples' who have to express their undenyed love to the whole building, this shouldnt be done on one day but all year round if your love is that strong. These reasons are why i hate valentines and why i was thrilled to hear it was on a saturday so i can stay in my room, alone, complaining to the internet (basicly my normal routine but ill be in a dressing gown).

I guess I don't like Valentine's Day because it makes single people feel bad, so it'd be really selfish of me to say that I like Valentine's Day since I'm in a relationship (so I won't say that )

 

Anyway, I don't think Valentine's Day is all that special; I'm going to do something extra sweet for Wolfie though

I don't really care about it to be honest. I see it as nothing but another day in my life. It used to be fun back in elementary school (1st to 3rd grade) where kids used to give out Valentine's Day-themed cards and candies to everyone and even had a party. Ah! My childhood.

I don't mind it! Personally, I don't really like the idea of being in a relationship myself, but seeing other people smiling and happy makes me happy, so I guess it's good!

Valentine's Day is over-commercialized, but the day for me does have meaning. Six years ago on Valentine's Day the girl I liked and I had nothing to do so we decided to watch a movie. We ended up talking the entire time instead. Now we count that moment as the start of our relationship even though in reality it was probably at least six weeks later. But Valentine's is just so easy to remember.

 

Not that we'll actually be together this particular Valentine's Day, as she's going to Brussels with friends while I stay at home.   I'm not big on going out and while I have nothing against her friends I have no connection with them at all. I'd just be excess luggage there, so I'd rather stay at home and have fun, while she has fun with her friends. Win-win.

Valentine's Day has never held any REAL value for me...even in past relationships, neither of us have cared about it much. But it is nice to feel like there's a day celebrating love even if society presents it in a pretty awful way.

lol no I'm excited for Valentines Day :DD I love this holiday (bc of all the fanart and fanfics of my ships). I get chocolate from my familly and candy from friends too, which is great ^-^

note: Everyone in this thread seems to be thinking that if you're single you're miserable.. or if you've never had a bf/gf you must be sad on Valentines .. what's wrong with being single ? Also not everyone is made to have someone on Valentines dx aromantics are people too.. 

I've never ever had any boyfriend but am perfectly fine with that, less responsibilities and more time to myself.. stop hurting yourself over feeling lonely for no reason D: If you want love you'll find it in the right place and time. If you need some valentines cards I'll send you some c:
