Invincible 2,091 June 28, 2014 Share June 28, 2014 (edited) One of my best friends had both of his lungs punctured once in an accident. Poor bastard had tubes to his sides for like two months. Nowadays he isn't allowed to board a plane, or get on fast rides in the amusement park. lightning-spark 34 July 2, 2014 Share July 2, 2014 I have come extremely close to death on several occasions. A few of them where me being a complete idiot. For example I got extremely drunk and drunk over three litres of spirits in less the two hours. Don't ask me why cuz I can't remember anything after the first litre. that is one of my least proudest moments but that's what happens when you party to hard as a student MARVEL alliance here to help my latest DJ mix -

Odyssey 5,716 July 4, 2014 Share July 4, 2014 Twice. :< The first time is I almost got crushed by my own bunk bed. I was a kid then, but I'm pretty happy that I don't sleep in bunk beds anymore. The second near-death experience is when some loser cut me off while driving in the middle of an expressway. The loser also had the nerve to laugh at my misfortune and even point the middle finger at me...

The loser also had the nerve to laugh at my misfortune and even point the middle finger at me... The hardest thing to accept is that we have to trust all drivers while we're driving. That actually reminds me. I was driving past an intersection at night (on the frontage road of a freeway), and somebody was making a u turn. However, they did not yield to me (they must have been drunk), so I quickly swiped the wheel to the right to avoid getting hit. Had I left the commercial center any sooner, I would find out he wasn't going to stop as I drove in front of him and he would have hit me in the side at a good speed. Maybe it wouldn't have been too serious, but I probably would have been hospitalized. gabrek 2 July 4, 2014 Share July 4, 2014 This is a really bizarre and personal thread to run into my first time on these forums. But heck, I'm game. 2004. I was deployed with the 2nd Armored Cavalry Regiment in Baghdad as a medic. An SF squad operating in the area's medic was wounded, and as the area support squadron, it fell on us to provide support to them as another 18D wasn't readily available. First guy's week went uneventfully, and the second literally got shot 8 times in a friendly fire incident a few days later. You can imagine my mindset going in to replace him. Came to a two floor structure SW of the green zone around 0200. SFC "Jack" instructed me to wait by the truck while the squad secured the objective. I hunkered down against a concrete barrier by the road and watched. Point pushed the door open and immediately a freaking grenade came flying out and hit the barrier. The percussion from the blast reportedly threw me a few feet. I couldn't hear anything. I felt ... I felt like I was dying, because I was. You know the feeling in your lungs when you've been holding your breath too long? It was like that, but everywhere, all through my chest and guts and head and everything started going white. The only thing going through my mind was a frantic need to do something, anything, but I couldn't move. It was like being turned to rock AND on fire. Next thing I knew I was choking down a huge gasp of air as one of the SSGs was cocking back to punch me in the chest again. The percussion from the grenade had apparently thrown off the rhythm of my heart. I felt like I had just run ten miles, twice.. though surprisingly outside of a wicked migraine I was able to just walk it off and regained most of my hearing within the hour. The four wounded in the house were beyond any field medic's help anyway, so I guess we lucked out there- out of the three we were able to extract for questioning, only one was hit, and he probably would have made it with a field bandage and a slap on the flank. Tl;dr: If you ever get a chance to NOT get blown up, take it.
Princess Periwinkle 3,775 July 19, 2014 Share July 19, 2014 Yeah, once I got T-boned by a SUV traveling ~55MPH. If anyone had been in the passenger seat of my car they'd have been killed for sure, but miraculously I was walking the next day. I had a few lacerations on the face and I was sore, but that was about it. Scary, though.
~DEATHMONGER~ 36 July 19, 2014 Share July 19, 2014 Yes. Once, I was at some cliffs on the West coast (Ireland), and my dad dared me to lie down and look over the edge (he wasn't being much of a d*ck, cause he was right there and he was half joking anyway). Then, a huge gust of wind blew and I was kind of hanging of the edge but my dad helped me back up. The cliffs were extremely high, and at the bottom were sharp rocks and the sea. It wasn't as quite dramatic as it may sound, though, but everything seemed to slow down when it happened.

iceestarz 5,764 July 19, 2014 Share July 19, 2014 (edited) Three times actually. 1) I was about four and was with my sister and my mom in the car on our way to my grandpa's house during a thunder storm. The rain was really bad so we sang the 'rain rain go away' song. I just remember lightning flashing then all of us screaming. My mom couldn't see and drove into a ditch, the car was flooding and we couldn't get out. Luckily a couple of guys drove by(literally the only ones on the road) and saw the car, thus saving us. To this day my family never sings that damn cursed song. 2) when I was in 3rd grade I jumped into a pool on the deep end. Couldn't swim, nobody saw me. I almost drowned. 3) a couple years ago I went to summer fun water park with my best friend for his birthday. We went in the wave pool, and let's just say the life guards were completely ignorant. A giant wave knocked me off guard and sent me underwater almost drowning, until a nice old lady saved me. ...I've almost drowned a lot. Lol. That's sad. Edit: also, a couple months ago I was in the back seat of the drivers ed car. The chick driving was merging onto the highway and some dude literally almost slammed into us. That is why I never liked driving with other kids. I felt like they were gonna end up killing me. Edited July 19, 2014 by Cupcakes14
Enemy Stand 446 July 19, 2014 Share July 19, 2014 The only thing I can think of is that I was blue at birth due to the umbilical cord wrapping around my neck. This next one wasn't me, and technically it might not have been extremely serious. My brother and I were touching an electrical fence for fun, and my younger sister saw what we were doing and grabbed onto it. My parents had to pull her off of it. Sir Xarthas VI 470 July 25, 2014 Share July 25, 2014 I think there's almost 20 times I've come close to death. Yeah.. Satan wants me bad I guess.Anyway, most of them were around trains. Almost getting hit by trains 6 times, almost got clothes-lined by the arm that goes down when a trains about to cross a major road... Almost getting run over by vehicles (that weren't trains) 4 times. Um... There were a couple more... Oh yeah... Almost falling out of a biplane after doing a few barrel rolls, which was fun. The rest I can't remember, but there are a few more. For those who are curious: My main DS3 character is SL709 My Main OC: Clyssora
Digit 321 July 25, 2014 Share July 25, 2014 I hecked someone in a hockey game and got a penalty for it. As i was going into the box for my 5 minutes. The guy i checked comes by and right as i take my helmet off he hits me with his stick. The blow shattered the front right side of my skull. With a broken skull and a swelling brain i slipped into a coma. I was out for 13 hours but in memory i didnt remeber the whole day. Once i woke up they did some tests and put a plate in my head. Dad thought it would be funny to tell me ive been out for 3 years because the doctor tild him to shock me when i woke up to get my brain and heart going. But other than getting hit by a car a few years ago thats it.
PokeBolter 208 July 25, 2014 Share July 25, 2014 I might've been close to death when I was born because I had problems with my breathing or something. But during my remembering life I was only close to death 2 times and each of these had to do with water. First one was I was at a pool with my family and some persons from my elementary school were swimming at the deep end and I wanted to join them but I had to swim a lap by the rope though which was 5 feet deep. I then got too tired and decided to hold onto it for a break and I sunk, don't tell me what the life guards were doing at the moment but I ended up under feeling like I was a gonner luckily I put my hand up out of the water in time and some random person spotted me. Actually there was one that didn't have to do with water once when I was getting in the car and the automatic door was shutting with my body in half luckily my dumb sister helped me out and I was saved. Then lastly was last week on vacation, since I'm reaaly tough not really mentally or emotionally but in a way physically that's not the point though there was a hot tub at the pool and I went into it pretending it wasn't hot which in reality I was starting to steam I also turned pink, my mom told me to get out because that could've actually killed me but then I got out. Thunderlane 550 July 25, 2014 Share July 25, 2014 I was at a football match when I was 3 and a someone smacked the ball and missed, and just skimmed my head, and i was standing up so if the ball hit my head the force would have taken me off my feet and i would have probably died. Also this isnt near death, but when I was 6 i got charged by a ram. Ow....... I play loads of Rocket League and GRID 2 on PC if you want to join me at some time. Account is linked in the pic above. (MARVEL) Blue Blood 991 July 25, 2014 Share July 25, 2014 Six months ago, I had a massive flu, or so I thought it was a flu. I was throwing up a lot, I was losing my voice, my balance was starting to fail, and I even had heart problems. The result of this was me becoming diabetic, and as much as I try to forget about it, I always have nightmares about it. Second in Command of the Marvel Alliance!!! Moonlight Magician 494 July 25, 2014 Share July 25, 2014 Three times: 1. I was eating some chips and one of the chips lodged in my throat. I then began gasping for air and I turned blue. Eventually, my saliva broke down the chip and then the chip finally went down. 2. At the swimming pool, I had went too deep into the water. My big brother saved me before I drowned. It was scary 3. I had been chewing my toenails and I managed to get an infection. I was hospitalized soon afterward. Yeah, I was stupid as a kid
Commander Shep-herd 64 July 25, 2014 Share July 25, 2014 I remember one time I was swimming with my school. I don't exactly float in water so I had basically gone under. The strangest thing, well from what I can remember, I could've sworn I had seen myself in the water. I'm not really a believer in 'out-of-body' experiences but that's what my memory conjures when I think back to that day. Didn't need resuscitating. I just kind of came back. Sat on the side out of the water for the rest of that P.E. lesson.

Dawnbreaker 71 August 19, 2014 Share August 19, 2014 When I was 14 I tried to get high of of "nutmeg". I took far to much, I was having seizures and my heart some how didn't fail. I remember barely being able to see anything, it was all just blocky and flat. I couldn't keep any thoughts in my head, my body was numb and I couldn't feel anything, I was losing myself. But then it stopped I was clear minded, Then I realized I was looking at myself from above the room like I came out of my body. then suddenly I was back in my body again, I laid in my bed and passed out. I was stone-like for 2 days and high for a week. I died? I'm still confused about it. ...Welp, don't do drugs kids.
