If the Mane 6 were snakes, what types of snake should they be?

Okay, this is a bit random of a topic, but oh well. Anyway, my question is this: if the Mane 6 happened to be snakes, what types of snakes should they each be? Post which type of snake for each member below, and post why.

Common Garter Snake

 

 

 

 

Well, Common Garter Snakes sometimes have yellow on them, but that's not the main reason I chose this type of snake for Fluttershy. I chose it because this type of snake's behavior reminded me of Fluttershy. When they are disturbed, they may coil and strike, but they usually just hide their head, and flail their tail. This reminds me a lot of Fluttershy.

 

 

Pinkie Pie

 

Coluber Constrictor

 

 

 

 

The main reason I chose this type of snake for Pinkie Pie is because they are fast and curious snakes, like Pinkie Pie. That's about it, really.

 

 

Twilight Sparkle

 

Eastern Indigo Snake

 

 

 

 

Another simple reason for a snake. But in this case, I guess that works considering how Twilight Sparkle likes being practical. Anyway, the main reason I chose this snake is because it has a blueish-purpleish color to it. Also, it has indigo in the name.

 

 

Rarity

 

Banded cat-eyed snake

 

 

 

 

Well, cat-eyed is associated with liking shiny things (like gems), so that name struck out to me as a snake Rarity would be.

 

 

Rainbow Dash

 

Golden Tree Snake

 

 

 

 

Now, the colors don't match, but since this snake can fly/glide, I think it would be a good snake for Rainbow Dash to be. Also, a flying snake is pretty cool, so that is another reason why this is a good snake for Rainbow Dash to be.

 

 

Applejack

 

Bullsnake

 

 

 

 

Well, bulls remind me of cowboys/cowgirls, and Applejack is associated with cowboy/cowgirls, so this seemed like a snake Applejack would be.

Alright, let me take a crack at it...

Personally, I think it would be fitting if Trixie were a Spitting Cobra.

First off, cobras are reputed for not being the nicest of animals.

You could also say she metaphorically spits venom by insulting the Mane 6. (Though that's stretching it)

On top of that, venom-spitting is a pretty unique, well, trick.

Twilight Sparkle- Cobra. Cobras have been regarded as mystical symbols by many many cultures, and well there's magical Twilight. 
Applejack: Boa constrictor. Constrictors are some of the strongest snakes, and Applejack is very strong. 
Rainbow Dash: Golden Tree Snake
Rarity: Diamondback Rattlesnake. Rattles tend to be a bit melodramatic, and will shake their rattle at just about anything, whether it's potentially dangerous or not. 
Fluttershy: Boomslang. Boomslangs are some of the most timid snakes out there.
Pinkie Pie: Corn snake. Corn snakes are generally rather playful.

Fluttershy would be a rubber boa.

 

"Rubber Boas are considered one of the most docile of the boa species and are often used to help people overcome their fear of snakes." They are very shy and spend most of their lives hiding under rocks or in burrows.  When they are frightened, they curl into a ball and hide their heads.

 

 

Can't really find any suitable for the others right now, but that one definitely fits her.

I don't know too much about snakes and the different snake species out there, but I would definitely compare Fluttershy to a garden garter snake. Those snakes seem relatively calm and unlikely to attack as much as more of the fiercer snakes out there.

Cobra actually makes quite a bit of sense for Trixie, since they use the frill to seem bigger than they are and scare off predators. Trixie doesn't try to scare off predators, but she does use illusions and tricks to make her seem like more than she is.

I like what snakes you chose. I didn't think of Boa Constrictors for Applejack, but that actually makes sense. I also like the Diamondback Rattlesnake one. I would have never thought of that for a snake for Rarity.

I hate snakes about as much as Indiana Jones and Twilight, haha. I've almost run over  some out biking, but I stop, because I do NOT Want to be picking a snake out of spokes.
