1) Yeah, Firefox! Woohoo! *flash crashes* :muffins:

It really is my favourite browser. It runs very well on linux, I find it fast, highly configurable and I can trust the organization behind its development. That is the biggest problem I have with chrome, I really can't trust Google with releasing a proprietary browser. Yes, there's the less featured chromium, but it has its fair share of problems as well for me.

2) GIMP (the GNU Image Manipulation Program.) Sure it isnt as powerful as Photoshop, but it's a hell of a lot better than MS paint. I have used it for pretty much all my photo editing, all I need is curves. I dont edit my photos to death, I must get the shot right the first time. It's a philosophy of mine that I have no intention to change.

3) rxvt-unicode. It's basically a lightweight configurable terminal emulator for Linux that I have taken a liking to. To those that dont understand, it is basically like the windows command prompt except a lot more powerful.

4) VLC. It plays pretty much anything and it is a lot more featured than it just being a media player! All in all, it's an amazing piece of software.

5) VIM (because it is clearly superior over emacs :P)

Besides Google Chrome and Skype, three come to mind at the moment.

1.) Steam - Absolutely fantastic for all my gaming needs. It's by far the best game distribution software that is available. It has a huge selection of games and the prices are reasonable, and even if you don't have the money to buy them at the moment, Steam often runs amazing sales.

If you don't have it, get Steam here. It's free, but of course, you must purchase the games (Although there are some free ones)

2.) Paint.NET - Basically just a free alternative to Photoshop, it does all the things I need it to, art wise. The choice in plug-ins makes it a very useful tool for almost any drawing I need to get done. It's the program I use to do things like make my avatars, signatures, animated GIFs, and the like.

It's a reliable program, and if you can't afford Photoshop, this is a good alternative, plus, this hasn't crashed once on me, unlike Photoshop.

If you don't have it, get Paint.NET here. It's completely free, and I highly recommend it, even if you don't plan on using it immediately, it's one of those programs that is good just to have around for when you need it.

3.) Python (Specifically the GUI IDLE, since it's easier to use than the Command Prompt) - Very simple but useful GUI for Python programming, easier than simply running it through the command prompt. I've found myself spending long nights working on things in Python these days, and this just makes the process a bit faster and easier.

Python is by far my favorite programming language, if you're just getting into programming, Python is a great place to start learning, it has a lot of features that make it one of the best programming languages for beginners and pros alike, at least, in my opinion. Plus, Mac OS and Linux use Python quite a lot.

There are two main versions of Python people use, I personally use Python 3.

If you don't have it, get Python here, it's free, but if you don't know how to program already, it's something you might not find a use for it.

Steam -  Hands down my favorite computer program to use. The most obvious reason is not just because of games, but because it's the best way to chat with my friends at anytime.

Paint.NET - I love using this program to create cool projects and at times avatars and signatures. I used it all the time for those purposes on another forum site. I might start a thread for avatars and signatures someday when I feel up to it. Could be fun.

1. Steam, I think reason is quite obvious, games.

2. Skype for talking with friends of course.

3. Cubase for guitar recording (I'm still amateur though, so my mixes are far from perfect).

4. Sony Vegas for video making (I'm amateur here as well).

5. Google Chrome, I think no explanation is necesarry.

  1. Skype. I get to chat with all of my MLPF buddies there!
  2. NBA Live 2003: An epic basketball game! (Lol video games are still computer programs!)
  3. Google Chrome: Best internet browser ever. Dunna what I'd do without it.
  4. Microsoft Word: Well I need to type my homework and lab reports! So Microsoft Word it is!
  5. Microsoft Excel: Use this to make charts for my science work!
  6. Snipping Tool: I can easily snap pictures of my desktop screen at any time!

By the way, this isn't in any particular order.

I usually use Windows. It's so useful, it's incredible.

Other than that, I just listen to music, watch documentaries, read stuff and hang on forums.

So I'm not using programs often. I'm most of the time playing guitar or doing exercises to fix my back. (Take care of your back, it's painful :/ )

Internetting: Chrome

Painting/drawing: Photoshop (I wanna give SAI a go, but my computer doesn't seem to like it for whatever reason.)

Animating: Flash (technically Toonboom is better, but I find that Flash is more user-friendly for line tests and roughs.)

Video editing/post-production: After Effects

Music production: FL Studio
