awww! http://www.equestria...on-nerdist.html

Equestria daily confirmed only 13 episodes for season 3! Thats disapointing.

At the bottom it says "(And since everyone is freaking out in the comments, season 3 was finished quite a while ago, and as far as I can see, Meghan is still working at DHX, so you can be pretty sure there are more episodes, or a movie, after season 3.)"

I dont think I want a movie but there IS going to be a season 4 right? Im guessing so. As long as there is going to be more then 13 eventually I think im good.

Glad theres probably more episodes after, still sad about it though D:

Counting from the season one and two and the planned three, there will be 65 episodes. That number somehow spells huge red DOOM on me.

65 episode

That... that right there is something to watch out for. Great, now I'm going to be scared ****less until Hasbro for sure confirms a fourth season. Seriously, I mean it, that is not something to just brush off. Good eye, sir, good eye. Well this just ruined my night, however, I'm just a little reassured by the fact that MLP is currently the Hub's most successful original program, which inclines me to think (or at least hope) that the Hub's executives would not be so stupid as to cut it off after 65 episodes. Here's hoping (and I mean REALLY HOPING) that that number is just a coincidence.

As to the shortened season itself, well, hopefully this means that (1) as many others have said, we'll get episodes connected by an over-arching storyline spanning the entire season, and (2) that there might be less time between seasons. In fact, a thought just occurred to me; if the Hub really is going to have shorter MLP seasons from now on, then, taking production time into account along with the number of episodes that each subsequent season will have, they might be aiming for MLP Season 4 to be broadcast during summer 2013, which would make a lot of sense actually. The Hub has been short on new episodes for many of their shows this summer; in fact, I think the only shows that have had new episodes, at least that are in the same time bloc as MLP, have been Pound Puppies and *ughhhhh* Care Bears, while they've been forced to just show re-runs of all of their other original shows. Ergo, it would fiscally make sense that the Hub would want new episodes of MLP, its most popular original program, to debut during the summer, as it would help the network retain a large number of their audience during what many consider to be the most important business season of the year. I hope this theory is correct, rather than the former one proposed by the gentlecolt I quoted from... that would certainly be a lot less depressing! B)

I agree, I don't really care that there's only going to be 13 episodes, all that matters is that its not ending yet.

Yeah, that fact there alone makes up for the shortage in my opinion. Im fine with many more seasons even if they have less episodes. ^~^

If there is more pony after season 3, good for us; if not, then hopefully they end the series on a high note.

While it kinda blows to have less, I just hope that this decision has allowed them to even put more love and care into each episode and really bring each one to life. Not saying there's too many boring episodes of MLP from season 1 and 2, but there's definitely those ones that stick out way more than others.

The only part I'm concerned with is if they start "wrapping up" a lot of things, since I feel like it could be a thing to cover their butts for not doing anymore, D:.

Really, if they just give me songs for Rainbow Dash and Applejack, as well as maybe give some of the background fan favorites some more spotlight again, I'll be happy regardless the episode count haha.

Well, cue Spike screaming nooooo. Then after that, I'll patiently wait for season 3 and beyond. A lot of people are worried, right? I'm sure it'll turn out fine....

Unsure about this. I do believe they won't end the show after S3, because there are so many loving and tolerating bronies who could gather up in arms and strike at hasbro buildings demanding more episodes violently errr... Kindly ask for few more episodes, if that's okay with you Hasbro ?

I think that it's either a joke, or that there will be smaller gap between seasons, or that there's someponything bigger going on. We shall see.

This had better not end like SatAM (Sonic the Hedgehog on Saturday mornings), where the final season effectively left everyone in the lurch. I hope there is a method to their madness, and that this isn't some ploy to get to the aforementioned 65 episode mark.

Ok. Let's not jump to conclusions unless we hear otherwise. The episodes haven't aired yet. So all we can do is just wait and see what happens.

Just remember, Season 3 was finished quite awhile ago, and Meghan is still working at DHX. So there is still a better than average chance that there's more FiM-related stuff coming. It could be that Season 3 is a story arc, or maybe they cut Season 3 to 13 episodes, because that's just going to be the season length now. Or it could even be that there's a story arc in Season 4 that requires more time than normal to complete (I've seen that happen before).

My point, unless they specifically say anything, I wouldn't worry. But remember, syndication isn't the only reason companies get shows to that magic number.

Don't care, as long as I get my Pony fix, for even thirteen episodes, I am highly content.

The only thing I would be mad about is if those are the FINAL thirteen episodes...

That's...not even funny. :o Do not joke about such horrid things! Of all the things that could possibly happen, this would be the WORST POSSIBLE THING!!!...and I really mean that this time :P

So much Friendship!

I doubt they would end the series. Hasbro made a nice increase in profit, they won't want to stop that just to reach that mark. At least not soon :P

The Unluckiest Number

I'm still reacting to this. There was, of course, a rumor circulating about this for months, and now it turns out to be true.

I guess I've been taking the show for granted, because I'm really feeling a sense of loss. I'm still very much looking forward to Season Three, but with only thirteen episodes, it's going to feel like either a short season or a very thin, drawn-out one (new episodes every other week?).

After two seasons of abundance, with twice as many episodes, I suppose I'm spoiled. Only now am I really recognizing that.

As for whether the third season is the last, maybe, but if that's the case, the cast and crew have been amazingly good at keeping that a secret. Then again, there's no confirmation for Season Four, so maybe they're just used to it, because they're all industry veterans.

Anyway, I'll try not to freak out, but now, more than ever, I feel like I really appreciate how special this show is, and how I'll feel when the last episode eventually airs.

You don't know what you've got, until it's gone.

If they stop at thirteen episodes, then it is our sacred duty as bronies to organize, and make our own.

They will most likely but naught but a pale comparison, but we'll be damned if we let the show die just like that.

A lot of people speculate that this means season 3 will be the last season, but I highly doubt this. With us Bronies, MLP is definitely Hasbro's money maker, and it would be a terrible business decision to cancel this show.

Movie maybe?

I am disappointed by this but there is the one thing, if you read the article again you clearly see that they say that season three has been finished for some time now and that the crew has not quit working on the show, that indicates something

P.S Why do people think that Faust has compleatly stopped working on FiM?

Laruen lives in the US. The place where they work on the show is in canada. Laruen had to work over the phone and stuff. It would cost too much and she just didn't like the stress.

well i can live with that, i'm not gona be one of those people who just moan because were getting 13 episodes at least hell one of the will be another 2 parter (which i prefer over a Movie because that would mea an even longer weight)

And then we learn that each episode is now 1 hour long instead of the usual time and everything is good ^_^

Meh the above isn't going to happen but seriously why don't americans follow the Japanese way ? They don't even have break between seasons in main animes(which I suppose mlp is just that with it's popularity right now) if the manage why Americans cannot. Even normal animes when confirmed from before that there will be a next season usually have very small breaks

Plus that 65 is too suspicious to be a coincidence. I hope it is but I am prepared for the worst. Such stuff are rarely a coincidence :/

I'm getting a bit worried when I hear that it'll only be 13 episodes... And I really hope it won't mean that the series will come to an end...

I don't like being pessimistic about this sort of thing, so I'm not going to go into how suspicious the sixty-five episode mark looks... Though I will say that the fan community surrounding the show is just as important as the show itself, possibly more so. Hasbro has even come out saying that we are a movement all to ourselves, pretty much independent of the show. If it turns out that the bronies will be given the shaft because of some corporate reason related to money or falling out of favor with soccer moms, I don't think it will affect the fanbase, or its popularity. Some of the best stories that surround the Ponyverse actually come from fan-made works, in my opinion. The brony community has arguably created at least as much quality material as the official series. I seriously doubt that any official cancellation is going to stop what we've started here. ;)

Remember that groundbreaking shows are usually adored by a niche community of fans, but quickly fall out of favor with the general public. They become cult classics that are remembered for being ahead of their time... and sometimes are revived for that reason. The original Star Trek ended after only three seasons and seventy-nine episodes, but look what it turned into around ten years later! It's possible that we could be seeing a small piece of cultural history unfolding here.

If Friendship is Magic dies before its time, so be it. This show has already left its mark as a cult classic. Whether it becomes a cultural icon is yet to be seen, but I guarantee that it will be a very long time before its fanbase even comes close to dying out. In short, rest assured that cancelling the series will not kill Bronydom... if anything, it will do just the opposite. ;)

You want to know something? I'm pretty most of us wouldn't be as upset if we knew the reason. We would still be slightly upset, but not as much.

Without knowing why, we are stuck being worried. Its like the derpy incident without all the insults flying.

They hired a brand new writer who is going to be started work after season 3, like someone said a few pages ago. The show is a global phenomena that caused an entire movement, that hasn't lost steam in any sense of the word. Not sure why this topic is beginning to turn into a 'oh noes what if the show ends'. I don't have to be overly optimistic at all to think that it's not. Just sayin'.
