Life needs to be readjusted! (resignation post)

This is probably coming at a bad time considering the other quite recent resignations of the team but it's something that's going to have to happen.

Unfortunately in the recent months my time has been stretched and stretched to the point where everything is in a constant rush, my work is giving me more and more to do and my own projects and social life is suffering due to this. I'm becoming irritable and lethargic and there's a sheer lack of motivation to do anything. I don't have time for my other hobbies anymore and it's getting on my nerves I'm having to turn down nights out because of a lack of time.

Becoming a moderator fell at an awkward time to start with, I had recently started dating my girlfriend and I was a full time job at the company I had previously done work experience for. Even the whole Brony aspect was still fairly new to me and then I was suddenly asked to become a moderator for a massive forum. However after a few weeks I felt I'd managed to settle in properly and just got on with it.

I'd actually never had to opportunity to be a moderator on any forum and I have to give a huge thank you to the other moderators and admins who helped me get to grips with the system, I've learned so much on how to deal with all manner of things, even from just hearing about some situations are dealt with. The team is full of awesome people, none of them have a bad bone in them and they all have hearts of gold.

It's been a good run and for my first moderating experience, it's been a blast. However there's no point in me staying if I'm not doing anything, it's just not fair on the rest of the team. In the last month or so I've come online and had to leave 5 minutes later due to other affairs. I want to do something but I'm either dragged away or I can't get on in the first place.

So therefore it's with some regret that I'm handing in the old resignation form. As much as I've enjoyed it I think it's fair that I'm going to prioritise my friends and life over a forum, I think many will agree with that. It's no-ones fault but my own for taking on more than I could handle. Other things are going to be shelved as well, it's just unfortunate that my moderating duties are included in those.

I'm probably not leaving the forums entirely but my interaction will be very limited. I never really posted much anyway and spent most of my time reading rather than posting but even so my time being spent on the forum in general is having to be cut down.

Again I am thankful for the experience and the opportunity to help the community. I think that the team deserves more thanks than they are given, as someone who has seen what happens behind the scenes they do a lot more than people realise.

So yeah...thanks for the ride guys but it's time that I left. Plus as I'm sure many people know, the girlfriend/wife always gets priority :P. It's going to be weird not having all those extra little buttons on my screen anymore.

Cheers!
Aaramus

Ah, the life bus. It hits again.

I'm sorry to see you go, Aaramus. You've been a valuable asset to the team, and it's going to very weird seeing your posts without the Royal Guard badge. The new guys soften the impact of your loss, but they nevertheless will have very big shoes to fill.

It's been a pleasure working with you, my friend. Good luck in whatever you do. Hope things go well for you! :)

It's really rough seeing you go, Aaramus. :(

But nevertheless, it's good you are doing this for the better in your life. I'll miss having you on the team, and hopefully we can still find time to chat in the future. I wish you luck in the meantime. It's been great. :)

*hugs*

Sorry to see you go, Aaramus. In my rather short time on staff thus far I haven't interacted with you too much, but I know enough about you to know that you were a great guy and a good fit in the staff.

Take care out there in real life, leave with the knowledge that you've done your job as well as anyone could do it. Hope to see you around~

You always brightened me up whenever I talked to you, and I'm sorry to see you go. I wish you the best with everything you're going through and thanks for all that you've done around here. And rest assured, Flipturn will have the whole "confusing me with euphemisms from the other side of the pond" bit covered ;). Thanks again man.

You and I got our first mod promotions at the same time. We've been together throughout your tenure, working together on that CMV sweep in the beginning and all manner of things along the way. And while I haven't been the most sociable guys in the staff lounge or other such groups, your presence and gregarious nature has often helped to lift my mood, even if all I did was sit there and read. I can't help but feel a significant part of myself leaves with you. We're all going to miss having you around, and we all appreciate everything you've done for us.

Life can be a bummer sometimes but it can't be helped. My own job has been sending me out of town in recent days and family obligations are all too familiar for me. You have to do what you have to do. Hopefully things mellow out a bit at work and you once again find yourself with a surplus of free time. Please do drop by the forum as your schedule allows; we need guys like you around here. And I'll try to keep your Council seat warm should you one day desire to return to it.

One of the few resignations that I haven't actually seen coming, or had a feeling might come. Life bus, for sure. I dunno, maybe I should write something more meaningful but, I just got back from work and have no energy </3 Regardless, it was fun, and I hope you can enjoy what free time you do find.

I've only seen a few of your posts, and never really got to talk to you.

Nevertheless, thank you for everything you've done. It's been nice to have you.

Well, looks like Darth Real Life has struck down another Jedi. Take care, man. I know exactly how you feel and how tiring the pressures of staffing a large site can be. Go ahead and take some "you time", I'm sure this place will be here when you come back. Hope to hoses us back here soon. :)

:( It's very sad for me to see another staff member finding themselves having to resign their position, particularly when it's someone from the same "generation", as it were. Aaramus, you did a great job as both Moderator and Admin during your time on the staff, and I'm honoured to have been part of the same team as you. Take care and make sure you continue to visit the forum when you're able.

I'm sorry that I've never interacted with you as much as I wish I had, but given that you're across the pond in Britain (I think, correct me if I'm wrong) and the timezone difference that comes with that, it's probably not surprising.  Still, from what I know you've done nothing but a commendable job for the forums since becoming a moderator, and for that you have my thanks and appreciation, along with the rest of the forum's gratitude I'm sure!  Thank you again for all of your hard work, take care, and God's blessings with everything!  :muffins:

It's been a good run and for my first moderating experience, it's been a blast.

Thanks for your services. Anyway, doesn't it feel great to put down the mop and move on with your life? Now you can focus on improving yourself rather than chasing around reports half the time! *laughs*

Seriously though, it's nice to hear that nothing terrible came out of this first experience of yours. This job's truly a pain in the long run and can make you stress out. Try not to take it up again if you know you won't need it in any way, as there's admittedly better things to do than this. :P Much better things. You're making the right choice so don't fret about it later on.

It's always disappointing to lose a member of the staff of here, but it's all understandable considering the outside issues and responsibilities you have to cope with.

When the life bus hits, it hits hard. :/

Never really gotten to know you, but it seems like you've devoted a good amount of time helping out the community here and we all appreciate the time you gave to help us enjoy our time on this site as best as we can. :)

I know this is late. :P
