Flies, what do you do and why.

I have a bug zap app on my iPod that's supposed to cause insects in the vicinity to explode. It hasn't actually worked though. Free app, whattaya expect? 

Mostly I just nuke 'em with bug spray.

Flies are some of my least favorite bugs because they're so noisy when they fly around.

I usually feel sorry for the poor thing. It got confused and somehow made it into my house, where it got trapped and is flying around, desperate to get out into the open again. Whenever it's still, I usually take a container of some kind and trap it in there, walk it to the door/window to let it out to it's freedom. Flies are not harmful creatures, they're kinda cute and like to eat poop and garbage.. Like, how random isn't that for a living? Kinda funny, to be honest. They are also needed for the spiders to get food and spiders are needed for the birds to get food, you know? The circle of life keeps turning. Anyway, the only time I'll go crazy is when one is still in my house in the middle of the night, buzzing around so that I can't sleep. It's not it's fault, of course, but it is a bother when it happens.

I'm not a killer in cold blood though, so I never kill a fly or any animal/insect on purpose, ever.
I remember one time when a bee was stuck in the bus I was sitting in. I didn't care much but I avoided it whenever it came flying my way, that was all. However, some awful humans trapped it in a piece of fabric and just smashed the poor little thing several times wrapped in there. All I could hear was a devastated buzz, another hit, then a slower, still devastated buzz, another hit... Then it was quiet. It was freakin' brutal and I couldn't believe how someone could do that to a poor creature like that. Humans are pure evil sometimes.

 

Ticks though?? Get outta here, you disease-spreading rubbish of the insect kingdom.

I find a shotgun is very effective. Not just on flies, but other bugs and small rodents as well.

I don't kill ordinary flies because I don't feel the need to and most importantly, I'd be too slow to catch it. I usually just try to lead it out of my room and then close the door so it won't come back there. As polite as I am, I sometimes also hold a door or a window open for it to go back outside. Flies don't sting or bite so I don't feel like I should be bothered by them.

if its while im gaming/doing nothing i dont care. if im outside doing a thing during summer and they are everywhere, i shake em away.

Flies are really annoying, and seeing how I don't have a flyswatter it is the only way I feel like dealing with them.

They're annoying,but sort of entertaining. It's fun to watch them rub their

appendages together,as if they were saying "Let's dig in." Usually,when I see them,I catch them with my hand,and let them go. However,when they get to be really bad,I'll roll up a newspaper and swat them.

For some reason, something in me is compelled to spray the bigger flies with water. I'm a weird one. When I was younger, I'd splash them with water, watch them fall, unable to fly. I'd sit there and watch them crawl around, I'd watch their legs and mouth bits move around. After I get bored, I throw them outside.

I just wave them off and get them to mind their own business. If it's indoors I usually try to get them outside since that's where they're trying to go to anyways.

I had a really bad infestation a couple years ago (suddenly about 40 were flying around my house....ugh.)

 

Those rolls of sticky fly paper that you hang up really did the trick. Gross as hell, but got rid of my problem in a day.

I can smack em dead as long as they're standing still and in the right position. The trick is to slowly get close to them with my hand so they don't feel it passing through the air, and then BAM! If there's too many, I whip out bug spray if there is any. One time, I sucked up a whole swarm with a vacuum hose. It happens because the door is left open for a long period of time.

Here in the city we never see flies, we got gnats though sometimes. They're better than flies at least.

I kill them as creatively as I can. I'm terrified of bugs, so I always kill them whenever I get the chance. With flies, however, I don't really panic, so I have fun with it. I remember I shot one with a hornet once. It was sitting on my window blinds, and the hornet knocked a hole in them. At least the fly died (for those who don't know, hornets are those folded up pieces of paper you shoot at your friends using rubber bands).

There's one hilarious situation I remember. It wasn't a fly, but it was close enough. Me and a group of friends were playing mini golf near the end of the school year, and a bee flew over towards us. Instead of running, I swung my golf club and smacked it out of the air. It died and landed in the pond. I have no idea how I managed to hit it with my first hit, but that's one of my proudest moments.

The best way to kill them (if you’re lucky) is whenever I see them in the restroom, I closed the door...now it’s just you and me fly.

I just kill them, spray them mercilessly with a pesticide and watch them writhe on the floor before being finally dead. And then feed them to the lizards (they love to eat flies and roaches).

Actually flies are really hard to whack with a newspaper because they're too danged fast. But if I blast 'em with my hairspray it freezes them right in their tracks. Then I can hit 'em with a dose of the daily news.
