For the male fans

ok so i cant stress this enough that i know its a "girls" show and what not and that it is targeted toward so. Thus making there marketing platform around girly things. But by any chance is there anything within MLP franchise that the male populous of MLP fans can take salus in that "hey, i can go out there and buy that, and no get any odd looks!"

ex: zecora marking as a tatto, no one would know the diff. from that compaired to any other tribal tat. and thos who would, are non other then mlp fans!

anyone know of any other things within reason?

(and for the "who cares what others think" speal, im doing this for those who still haven't embraced the "who cares" that comes with accepting yourself as a mlp fan.) who knows maby with this thread some things will come up that will allow it to be more open to the public then what it stands ^^

got a prob? I can fix it!

There are several shirts at WeLoveFine colored like the coats of the characters, with their Cutie Mark displayed in a non-prominant location...hidden symbols basically, that would only make sense to fans of the show. For example:

To be honest, I really don't care how girly the clothes look or the amount of people who give odd looks, I'll still wear them.

But welovefine has several shirts that no one except bronies will understand, and no one else give any odd looks.

I live by the rule of never wear anything that represents anything. If possible my T-shirts never have desings, and are just of a plain color, Wich is quite hard actually, they mostly all have, so sometimes I have to conform with wearing something with a small desing, or something that doesn't mean anything. Same for notebooks.

That means that even though I love the beatles, and have actually been gifted stuff with their name on it, I'll never wear them, because I hate representing anything. MLP just might be the exception. I don't have any pony stuff, as they are not so easy to find in my country, but I would proudly wear them.

And you know why? For attention. Many people would not notice the beatle shirt, but a guy wearing ponies?! That would be a huge succes! Everybody would look at me weird!

I'm not personally too interested in buying any of the merchandise like toys (though I do have plenty of toys from other franchises) but not necessarily because of 'gender roles'.

Although, after looking at that Big Mac cutie mark shirt...I'm a bit tempted. I do like the red.

I just don't understand. Why do people care so much about boys and men watching Ponies?

Because other people look down on it. And why do they look down on it? Because other people look down on it. And why do they look down on it? Because other people look down on it.

And such is the vicious cycle of pointless societal standards.

Plenty. There some for the Mane Six, and I believe a few other ponies. Check out the whole store. It's not difficult to search it.

cuz lets face it, girls have it easy to be mlp fans then guys

I'm a girl, it might be easier, but it doesn't make it any less hard than it already is,

ex: the boys keep calling ponies gay, and hurting my substitute feelings, and my friends constantly humming the G3.5 theme song to either annoy me, or give me nightmares, and then there's the teachers that give you awkward looks whenever you come to school with a pony shirt, or when I try to do every art project, speeches or school assignments about my little pony

but I guess it's more tough for the male audience =

  • 3 weeks later...

I recently bought a shirt from my local Hot Topic. It says "Brony" and underneath is a silhouette of Rainbow Dash with her cutie mark. I wore it to the store the other day, and I got some odd looks and finger pointing, but no one actually said anything to me about it. I was hoping to find some other bronies but it seems there weren't any there. : /

Understated designs are what you'd be looking for - like the aforementioned plain-color shirts with the cutie marks in a not-quite-prominent location.

Either that or some of the more obscure references that the non-initiated won't understand or even associate with MLP, but any fan will get. The typical "This shirt is now 20% cooler" type of stuff is what I mean.

Good luck, brony! Hopefully you'll find something that'll let you display your love for the show without making you feel uncomfortable in the process.

Love and Tolerance for everyone!

Especially the ones I don't agree with.

My friend has a black shirt with Rainbow Dash's cutie mark on the chest. I think I might get something like that some day soon.

Also, tattoos (paint and otherwise) of certain cutiemarks like Zecora's or Celestia's or Luna's would be interesting, too

well you got a point but the people at the store won't know if the stuff is for you they might think it's for your daughter or sister example i go to toys r us and buy a doll would that be embarrassing? i don't think so tim so you better accept the fact and go buy the merchandise on your own if you don't want the "odd looking" just say it's for a relative or friend problem solved although i love mlp i would never wear a pinkie pie shirt in public bet most guys will make fun of me lol :P

and FYI they did polls about mlp fanbase there's more males who watch and love mlp i know more than 100 girls most of them don't even know what mlp is and some of them have watched it but they are not even interested ;)

I guess you could always commission a custom pony something from an online artist?

I'm hoping that some day, for the sake of the male fans, that MLP merchandise will become as unisex as DC and Marvel ware. Batman panties for girls? Thor baby tees?

A girl liking comic books should be as simple as a guy liking ponies. The companies would make such a profit~

I know there’s a couple on redbubble.com as well, but like welovefine there's a huge selection to browse through to get to some of the subtle references.

While i'll wear MLP shirts and what not, i do stick with the more "guy" looking shirts.

I love fluttershy but man i don't think im gonna walk around in a bright yellow shirt with butterflies, but that's just me.

I am a bit in the mindest of screw what other people think though.
