Oh godz how I wish I could go sad.png

But unfortunately my service in the Finnish defence forces lasts until September and I doubt I'll be getting enough time off for a trip to USA to be worth it... Not gonna spend over 1500€ to spend just one weekend there.. KUbAnTY.png

I'm already planning to attend Crystal Fair in Helsinki on July 4th-6th. That's gonna be enough trouble explaining to the higher-ups. I can see it now...

"Sergeant 'X' sir. Permission to speak? Thank you. Could I get a vacation for this weekend? 'Why'? You see I'm planning to attend this convention about My Little Pony. Yes, My Little Pony, the cartoon about magical colourful ponies. I'm a brony you see. 'What's that'? Oh a brony is an adult fan of the series, we're mostly males between 16-30 years old. No, I'm not joking..."

So yeah.. I highly doubt I'll attend, but I'll be there in the spirit with you smile.png

lulz...I can see that going over just fine!

But being serious for a minute....will they actually want details on exactly why you want to take leave?  Isn't it enough to just say "I want to go to Helsinki that weekend to spend some time with my friends" or something?  Sure, provide info on where you'll be staying, how you plan to safely get there and back, but it seems odd to me that your sergeant would care exactly what you plan to do with your friends during that time.

I hope they have BronyCon 2014 in St.Louis or Chicago maybe Springfield IL. But I don't like the idea of the moon or staying in Baltimore.

I highly doubt that'll ever happen. As much as I'd love a STL or Springfield con (the latter is about 10-20 minutes away from me), Bronycon is mostly an eastern-USA-based convention.

But, just to let you know, Midwestria (a Chicago-area con) might be coming back in 2014.

I will def be going probably, I am from NJ and Baltimore isn't that far away from here. I may just settle for one day instead of 3 however. I am planning on going to LA afterwards, so i need to have as much money as I can. I have a question, do bronycon vendors normally accept credit cards or just cash?

I'd love to go, and I live right in New Jersey. But the issue lies in the fact that I can't drive as yet, though I'm 19. While there's no problem with staying in a hotel overnight, logistically, getting to Baltimore to begin with is troublesome when I can't drive.

And no, I didn't fail any tests or anything. I just didn't get enough practice, and I wasn't ready for the test date when it came round. And now I have to take the written and vision tests again.

Then why not find a ride share? Come around the time of the convention, the convention forums get swamped with ride/roomshare requests. People do it for convenience and to save money. All the better if you're near a major city.

Most of them do accept credit cards so don't worry :) The had these little credit cards wipers connected to their phones but bring some cash too just in case :)

If I can hitch a ride and get help paying for the hotel room then yes, I am totally going to be there, and I cannot wait!!!  I may even try to get a booth for Tartarus Productions...

You can go to the site and sign up to do a panel if that's what you mean :)

Here's the link :P

I hope the link works. The links I put up don't work for some reason.

I meant like an exhibit hall booth, but a panel would be beneficial as well, I imagine!  However only three members of the team, that I know of, are even going to make it so I guess we'll see :P

All right, cool. The only reason I asked was most places I went with vendors didn't really have that. And don't worry, I don't think there's a chance of me not bringing cash. I think it's more of an option that I'll bring too much cash and end up spending all of it on plushes and stuff.XD

And

BalanceBrony: I get what you mean. I live in New Jersey too, and I can't drive either. I'm 30, but I was born with a spacial issue, meaning I kinda don't know how far or how close I am to something. So, I would always need to rely on public transportation to get around. I know it's not gonna be cheap but my only real options of getting to Baltimore is either by train or plane. And yeah, I'd look into a car pool and/or room share .

Well... Heh :P To be honest, I don't think they'll actually want to know what I'm gonna do with my spare time, but you never know, right ;) A friend of mine said that he got a weekend off to go to a LARP-thing by saying he's attending a... what was it... a "youth culture event" XD I might try that.

Oh I am definitely going next year. Bronycon was where I registered to be a part of this forum. Heck, the journey in of itself was a fun one, even if we took a wrong turn and ended driving halfway to Atlanta instead of Baltimore. But yeah, words cant describe what an amazing experience it was. Words also cant describe how depressed I was when it all ended. So I'll be definitely making my grand pilgrimage to Bronycon 2014. And this time I'll make a few changes to my game plan, like hitting the dealers hall before it closes early on the 3rd day!

Hope to see most of you there. Start giving out brohoofs until my knuckles are swollen (which did happen BTW)

I'll have to split my funds though. Because I also have Anime Central in Chicago to attend. My 7th one in a row.

You should have seen the brohoof line as people filed in for the closing ceremonies, haha. As people filled up the dividers, you'd constantly pass others with their fists out. People starting high fiving instead because it got so painful, lol.

Looking forward to BronyCon '14. happy.png

img-1987230-1-i1NfJr3hnfl6S.gif   There is a 99.99999% chance that I will be there

I already have plans to bunk with 3 other people at the Marriott (hilton rooms were just....gone)

I hope there will be a thread that lists all the people who are going, I'd like to figure out who will be there!

All the Hilton rooms are gone....this far in advance? Or were they gone last year, and you're just planning for the same outcome? This is in August when it's not even January yet I didn't know a hotel could be that overbooked nearly 8-9 months in advance.

Maryland isn't ((Too)) far away from where I live, so I might be able to go because I don't go to school until September. Only problem is I'd have to have a way to get there! I've only been to one con before, and I'm not so big on huge crowds. So I might go! If I do, I'd love to meet some cool people lol!

Completely normal for a convention this size. You can still get regular rate room, but you'll pay much more. It's a good idea to book a room ASAP, you don't get charged until the con and can always cancel.

I have already started saving! Hopefully, because I'll be 19 next year, I'll be able to travel across the country by myself or with some friends...if I can find people who are bronies and live close to me.

I remember that part. The line was so long that it had to go loop around the corner and went down the stairs. So many people waiting to witness the end of a glorious occasion.

Yeah, it would have sucked to wait in that line. I just paid somebody $5 to get to the front. tongue.png Works every time!

Next year is gonna be nuts! Already got my ticket & room (@ the Hilton too!). img-1999872-1-happy.png
