Has Discord changed in the Season 4 Premiere?

Yes, he is now boring than ever.

Few past seasons, he is awesome with mastermind plans and now a clown servant.

He becomes too repetitive for me to hate.

I love the episodes for the flash backs but i lost the interests soon because there was no specific villain.

What made the show great because of villains now the studio ruined it by putting some spiky plants out of nowhere with no much of consciousness or direct evil masterplans.

Plain soap drama episodes!

i mean after season 3 my knee jerk reaction was "he has every right in the world to be mad."

 

you've de evoled into "not gonna like. not gonna like, not gonna like it."

 

you have no interest in trying to enjoy the show.  None and you hang around to try and drag posters down to your level at this point.

I don't think the writers even know what they're doing with him now. Maybe they'll surprise me later but, his role in today's episode felt so phoned in and unneeded and the episode would have been so much better with out him and if they had a different origin to the roots. He's basically the only bad part of today's episode in my opinion and he was one of my favorite characters ever when he first appeared in Return of Harmony.

 

He's working with in the rules to still be a basturd.

 

So instead of being the element of chaos,

he's the element of trolling.

 

Sense most people consider john Delaney the troll god, alot people are fine with this.

 

But yes, i understand why some people will be like "but that's not chaos."  But he is still evil.

If he's not even going to be about chaos, he's just a useless and terrible character now to me. Keep Calm and Flutter On should have never existed, in my opinion.

I think he's basically a jerk with a heart of gold so he's pretending to not care about certain things like Fluttershy when he pronounced her name wrong intentionally and called her Shutterfly. He's being deviously in a way to help the mane 6 as well when he told Twilight to stick with her friends.

He's a villain on the evil patch LOL.

He's a junkie looking for new ways to get his kicks.

He got off on twilight's suffering.  I mean it wasn't like laughing at rarity crying over something trite either.  he knew what she was crying about,

I suggested what would happen if a villian started talking to discord about "the good old days" how fast he'd yo, yo back.

 

He almost got there all on  his own.  He's certainly thinking about it.

Discord became my favorite because he made such an wonderfully manipulative villian, one that does what he did because it was fun (For th Evilz) and for no other reason. I was and am against Discord being truly reformed, and for me it would make as much sense as the Joker being truly reformed.

 

So yes I am concerned that he will be changed for the worse, I just hope they don't mess this up. Discord has been fine so far, but I will be on watch for the disappearance of my favorite villian.

Yes, I believe that he is the same Discord but after learning the value of friendship he truly has been reformed...to an extent where it's important to him and that has become his conscience in a twisted, chaotic way.

Discord has halfway changed.

 

I mean, he's still his silly old random self but he isn't doing it strictly to harm others. He obviously stuck to his roots in chaos, and he loves chaos. But it's balanced. Whether or not it was his intention, he actually did some good with the chaos he creates.

 

He antagonized Twilight when she went back to Ponyville. Had he not got under her skin, she probably would have lacked the motivation to go back to her friends as quickly as she did. Maybe she would have moped around until she felt herself like it was a bad idea to go back. Who knows? Maybe Discord was trying to hurt her feelings. Maybe he knew that it was for the greater good to upset her as long as she got back in there with her friends. 

 

Regardless, I believe Discord has changed, but only so much. I mean, they did a good job of showing that he's making a turnaround, but only ever so slowly. 

 

But now with the Elements gone, perhaps he'll go back to being evil. Only time will tell. Good or bad, Discord is still awesome!

Not a whole lot. He isn't out tochange the world how he sees fit, but he still retains many things, like his immaturity and his bullying habits towards the ponies.

Changed from his last appearance in season 3?  I would say so. He's a little more of a neutral character than a really "reformed" character like I was expecting in Keep Calm And Flutter On, so in that sense he's much better than I thought he would be.

He did change a bit, but he needs time.  He isn't going to go straight to good just like that.  I don't think anyone expected him to though.

But you know...he never did make a very good villain in the first place.  I know he toyed with their minds and messed with their heads but he never really hurt them too bad.  I know that a lot of you will disagree with me on this, but I just would like to say it.

Discord is probably one of the most powerful beings in Equestria.  He is probably more powerful than Celestia and Luna put together.  So far, the only thing more powerful than him were The Elements of Harmony. 

But with that kind of power...he could do far worse than mess up your personality.  He could do far, far worse...

But he didn't.

Yes, but he's not completely reformed.  He's still chaotic in how he toys with ponies minds still.  He seems to take is friendship with Fluttershy seriously, and it seems he doesn't want it to end.

Yes, absolutely. There are two things that suggest that he has changed for the better. The first is when he told Twilight off for coming back while leaving her friends behind in the midst of danger. It shows that he does care about their bond and is wise enough to tell Twilight that a crown doesn't make her any better than the others regardless of what they might think or say.

 

The second is that in spite of his over 1000 year old plan to capture Celestia and Luna ultimately proving successful once the magic of the tree of harmony became exhausted, he willingly decided to stay with the M6 even tho there is literally nothing strong enough to oppose him if he went wild. It shows that on top of caring for the friendship that the M6 share between themselves (a HUGE change from when he was first introduced), he cares for his own relationship with them. He simply has the tendency to act VERY tsun tsun about it

He may act trollish and chaotic here and there, but you can relegate those to old habits stemming from his very chaotic nature, but chaos by itself is neither good or evil, and the two things I pointed out above trump any little pranks he pulls.

There was no specific villain but there was a specific antagonist. Complaint invalid.

 

The show is made great by the villains? The majority of episodes have no villains (surely you can't be counting the mook-tier baddies that are dispatched like nothing...Manticore, random dragon, etcetera) and yet you still watch. Complaint contradicted and thus invalid.

 

Not every antagonist needs a master plan. You think otherwise, quit watching and go find something that will cater to your pointlessly specific needs. An unconscious evil is arguably a greater threat anyway as it cannot be reasoned with (and indeed, one cannot even try).

 

You clearly have never seen any form of soap drama at all if you're comparing the two.

I believe the premiere flushed out a good idea of how Discord's character will be like from here on out, plus any future warming ups he may or may not have with the main characters, or any other 'continued reformation' changes. As was predicted by many, the prankster is not dead, he now simply pushes the boundaries of what the ponies will put up with, always looking for a way to make some splashes here and there when no one is looking. I enjoyed Discord here, even more than I did in season 3, and for me it's on par with how he was in his two-part appearance, albeit awesome in a different way (villain VS neutral supporting character).

He has changed I think Futtershy more reminded Discord what it was like having friends. People do realize that Discord did in point of fact help Twilight defeat one of his own plans. what if the keys are related to putting and end to some of his other plans?

 

I do think Discord is more or less working for the good guys now. I see Discord as more inherently Chaotic then evil so I could be chaotic good. I have always thought of him as neutral. the new Discord may not live up to his name.

that would also explain why from the ponies point of view he is evil. that and brining harm to others for your personal amusement is at least an evil act.
