I like Rainbow Dash out of all the ponies because of her personnality: Her attitude (excluding her flaws in that category) is really outgoing and she is not scared of challenges and did I mention her competitive side and she even reads so that adds up to the fact of a minimalistic mind openess I suppose.

My favorite main pony is Applejack. I can relate to her on a lot of levels I never thought possible, and we share similar values. She's a level headed, down to earth, hard working, good hearted country girl! What's not to like about her?

 

My favorite secondary character is Starlight Glimmer. That option isn't on the poll unfortunately. I have a soft spot for good villains, and she meets almost every criteria in that regard. She thinks what she's doing is the right thing, she controls with a silver tongue rather than force, and she is downright magically powerful.

 

Favorite background character? Uh... I don't really have one. Never paid too much attention to them.

Rainbow Dash is my favorite pony for multiple reasons:

 

1) She's got a RAINBOW COLORED MANE & TAIL. Do I really need to say more?

 

2) She's the only known pony to pull off a sonic rainboom.

 

3) She's got her own fanclub.

 

On a personal note, I connect to Rainbow Dash's competitiveness. Although we have different personalities (I tend to act more like Fluttershy or Twilight), I think we have the same mindset and ideas about life. Rainbow Dash tends to strive to be the best, and ends up losing focus on what's really important, and through several episodes I've come to love her and relate to her more than any other pony.

HECK YEAH. Nice ot see Dashie winning! Tired of her losing all the polls (She wasn't last place in the Ponychan ones that were done, but she'd usually end up third everytime).

 

Anyways, Dash is my favorite character. I LOVE her color scheme. love it. Rainbows and blue just go together so well, and her shape/design is well done. I actually have always been very partial to Spectral/rainbow colored designs, regardless of social stigma against them

Additionally, she's got alot of personality traits that I like. She's got a real can do attitude, she's a dream seeker, and she never lets life get her down. She's got alot of spunk, and deep down she DOES care about her friends. Plus, her meat head attitude can lead to some funny jokes (like Testing Testing 123).

Adding onto that, her wonderbolt aspirations give her a real sense of a goal and progress in who she is. She's got episodes that can be built up for real character development.


Now, the aspect of her that I actually have come to love the most is a strange one as it wasn't there from the start. Specifically, I really like her team leader/coach aspect they've been building up in episodes like Hurricane fluttershy and WA. Its a real nice touch to show her dealing with others and acting as a team leader, and it works well. I know its hard to work in alot, but I'd like to see more focus on that aspect of her for pegasi episodes.

 

 

 

 

 

Number 2 is Rarity. Rarity is just great, she's a comedy gold mine. Much like Dash, she's got a dream, and you can tell she REALLY cares about it. Its not just some flippant focus on fashion like alot of shows would do with such a character, where they like fashion with no actual purpose in life to liking fashion: its actually her passion and what she wants to do with her job and her life. I can respect that.

Plus, her drama queen antics lead to some of the absolute BEST jokes in the series whenever she freaks out. Tabitha is an incredible VA. Its kind of funny, thinking about that, how often she's been made evil (Nightmarity and inspirarity). her large ham tendencies work very well in that role (I LOVED inspiration manifesation).



Third is Fluttershy. She's about as moe as you can get and a real asset to scenes where she interacts with others. Her shyness and timidity lend itself well to acting as a foil to the more aggressive characters, and her passive aggressive moments are always chuckleworthy.



4th is AJ. Dangit, She used to be my 3rd favorite in S1/S2, but they've really gone off track with her. Specifically, they hijack HER episodes with her family isntead of focusing on her, like Applebuck season and fall weather friends. her episodes tend to end up as "Granny smith or Applebloom's whacky antics, co-starring applejack". Its saddening, because she's got REAL potential: The mayor mare/AJ comic for example is one of my all time favorite MLP comics.

I also wish they'd play up her straight man aspect more, like in the comics where they'll put her into something of a deadpan snarker role with her facial expressions at the idiocy of others around her. She really works well in that role.




5th is pinkie. I really think they've let themselves get away with themselves with pinkie, as she was much better in S1. Specifcially, she's best when there's a method to her madness, where she "talks" instead of screams her jokes. I loved her in the S5 premier for example as all her jokes felt natural. half the time nowadays though her "Jokes" are just "Pinkie screams something really, really loud".
being an ADHD character isn't funny as your only schtick.

 

 

 

 

Twilight is 6th. Ah man, how the mighty have fallen. back during S1 she was my number 2 pony (couldn't top dash though). But now, she's by far my least; she tends to hurt scenes she's in rather than help them.
Back during S1, she had spunk, she had snark, and she was an adorkable OCD type character. Alot of scenes would have incredible humor in that she'd be set up soapboxing or snarking with pride, only to be humbled in a rather hilarious manner (The "Did you two PLAN this?!" line for example is still one of my favorites). Plus, she'd constantly have mentaly breakdowns over her nerdy OCD aspects, like in Swarm of the century or Lesson zero.

Additionally, I'd think to myself "Dang, less talented writers would make the mane character a black hole sue who everything revolves around and sucks in all major plotlines to be about herself; they're actively AVOIDING that her to give the other characters room to breath and also make Twilight more accessible due ot not having too much attention." and then, S3 hit, and it seemed that all went out the window.

Additionally, twilight had her entire personality vaccumed out to make her a perfect paragon with virtually no entertainment value and pretty much ONE defining "flaw" and none of her earlier snark or pride. She just wangst now about not being good enough or not living up to who she is supposed to be (or wangsts about NOT being important enough) until she inevitably does it and gets a congratulatory pat on the back. They took all the worst aspects of Gohan around the Cell arc and rolled them into one character.


now, they have seemed to have realized this somewhat as there have been breaks in this pattern, such as Testing Testing 123 (where she was back to her S1 glory, and it was great), but by and large, she's sitting at the bottom of hte garbage can with no sign of climbing out.

I just love Rarity. Idk why, she just the best and worst combination of so many things... She's classy, gorgeous and generous , yet she can be very narcissistic and self-seeking if she's not looked after properly . She's the kind of pony I'd wanna care about and help a lot, I guess !

I kind of wonder if this poll is very accurate currently though; Alot of the votes here probably came from early on in the show's lifetime, with a good number of the fans leaving; and based on alot of the other poll info I've seen, Favorite ponies have shifted DRASTICALLY, meaning its possible half the votes here wouldn't be accurate if the voters voted again today.

 

 

 

I'd almost like for there to be a new poll done here to see how things have changed. Dash is probably winning here due to her early S1 Uber popularity.

Pinkie Pie because i love her eccentric and weird personalty. I also like how she goes out on her way to make everyoen smile no matter what and that when she gets serious it means business.

Applejack is my favourite Mane 6 pony. I immediately liked her when I saw her first appearance in the pilot episode. Eventually Pinkie took her spot for a while, but I think writers don't do as good job with her as they used to. So Jackie rose to the first spot once more. 

I like Applejack's appearance. She has a really simple design, but she sill stands out from the crowd. She has pretty green eyes, freckled face, and long, blonde and thick mane and tail, which are all au naturel (no tail extentions here). She also has adorable mannerisms and facial expressions that increase her cuteness exponentially. And I've always found dialects fun, which might be because I also speak with one.

She is physically strong and works hard, prefers practicality over aesthetics, and has a pretty "manly" job, but she is still feminine in her own way. I also think that she is the most mature main character.

 

My other favourite pony is Twilight, which is funny because she was my least favourite for a long time. But basically I like her because I see a lot of myself in her, especially in the very first episode. We both tend to be socially awkward and worry too much about pointless little things. But she has proven many times that she's able to overcome these problems and grow as a character. And as a student I find Twilight a great role model, because she has endless motivation to learn more and better herself.

And though I think I'll never get used to Twilight being an alicorn or having a castle instead of a library, I still think that she is the best princess.

I have three favorites and I'm finding it hard to say which is the favorite.  All three of them have their own things, they are all wonderfully flawed Ponies, and they are all very beautiful.

My favorite pony is Fluttershy. She's just so cute and adorable and I relate to her competly. Favorite background pony is Octavia, I can relate to her in the way she is serious about music, like how when people don't take singing seriously  while I'm the only one who actually sings instead of fooling around.
