[spoiler] S4 finale hints in latest MLP online game?

I checked out the official "Magical Match Three" game on the Hasbro website. On top of featuring the Mane 6 in their "Rainbow Power" designs, it also comes with an interesting little story:

 

"Oh no! Discord is in Equestria...and stealing all of the color! Play the game and help bring color back to Equestria!"

 

Oh, and Discord's wearing antique eyeglasses.

 

Could this be the plot of the season finale? Is this how the Rainbow Power fits in? Does Discord go bad again, or was he never truly reformed?

Yea, I saw that rainbow power thing, hopefully their mane doesn't stay like that or is only a temporary thing, or a possible transformation that comes out only when they need it perhaps? Guess we will just have to watch and find out!

I honestly don't think the game has any relativity whatsoever to the Season 4 finale. Honestly, I think it was just a quickly made up story to give you a significant purpose behind playing the game. If I'm wrong, you can slap me. xD

Well, before S3 came out, we got a leaked image of King Sombra in an official MLP game. While this game doesn't do anything of that sort, one still can't help but wonder...

 

And I'm also fairly certain that Rainbow Power is like the Super Saiyan of MLP, a super mode the girls can activate at will to use the magic of the Elements, if not something greater.

If the over-the-top Rainbow designs are what they have in mind for the show, I hope they have the good sense to keep them largely under wraps except for certain occasions, like they do now with the Elements.

But I digress. I dunno, seems kind of like a misuse of Discord's ability to be genuinely menacing (ignoring how this would go back on any character development they've attempted on his part), and it'd be horribly disappointing. No new villain in S4, and "stealing all the color" seems like a bit of a step down from "parasite army feeding off populace" and "evil king enslaving the world".

 

I think whoever was in charge of making this just came up with a random little context for the game.

On a different note, I do wish the game was long enough to play through the whole official instrumental of "What My Cutie Mark Is Telling Me". The two-star difficulty is slightly longer, but it cuts before the very last part, and it's driving me nuts. Is it possible to extract the audio or something? MysteriousBronie's fanmade instrumental is nice, but the official version has its differences nonetheless.

It would actually surprise me if Discord suddenly goes bad again, but I doubt it'll happen. And it's starting to look more and more likely Rainbow Power is coming to the show.

Wow, this is actually fairly fun. Great animation and cute character model for Twilight when she's using her magic.

 

Eh, seems more like a half-assed story they put together for the sake of the game, like others have said above. Though, the concept of colors and Rainbow Ponies may be themes we may be seeing at some point in the future. While this specific plot is probably just for the game, I doubt those concepts are, especially since there's been Rainbow Pony dolls and other things, as well.
