Regarding Alicorns, being an alicorn does not automatically grant immortality. It would probably give you a longer lifespan due to the presence of all three types of magic, but you'd still be mortal like Twilight, Cadence and Flurry Heart. The reason Celestia and Luna are immortal is because they're magically and spiritually connected to the sun and moon respectively. So long as the sun and moon exist, so too will they. 

 

Also, even Celestia has no idea how old her and Luna are. Mostly because she stopped counting centuries before Nightmare moon's banishment.

 

Another thing I've always believed is that Rarity is trained in some form of martial arts. The feats she showed during The Sisterhooves Social just proved it more.

One headcanon I've been developing is that Starlight Glimmer was adopted into Sunburst's family during her infancy. Recall what Starlight explained in the S5 Finale: "Sunburst and I did everything together. In fact, I don't remember us ever being apart... until today."

 

We know that Sunburst and Starlight aren't related but if they've never been apart before that fateful day then it's possible that she had lived with him and his parents. That she says she can't recall them every being apart could mean that they've been together before she reached that age where she can start to remember things. It could be that Sunburst's parents wanted their son to have a sister the same age as him to play with but didn't think about it further than that. In the end, they never truly saw Starlight as their daughter as much as Sunburst's playmate. That's why her world as a filly orbited around Sunburst with his parents never being relevant to her. They fed her and everything but they had no patience or attention for her so that only left her with Sunburst to look up to and confide in.

A number of fan fics have ponies decieving Changelings.  That is absolutely RIDICULOUS!  Changelings can sense emotions, people.  They are living lie detectors.  True, they can't read your mind.  They wouldn't know exactly what lie you are telling or what the truth is.

 

However, they would know you are attempting to decieve them -even if what you are saying is literally true.  The only way to beat that would be to believe what you are saying.  That is, if you were decieved so you believed what you were saying

I don't know if I posted this already on here or not, but I got this interesting theory where Pinkie Pie is actually a descended of an escaped Crystal pony from 1k years ago before the Crystal Empire disappeared after Sombra's defeat. The Pie family all look kinda different, like something's a bit... shinny about them. They also love rocks, and crystals are rocks. They got crystal lights in their yard. Also Pinkie's mane and hair inflate when she's happy, and deflates when she's sad... just like the crystal ponies!

 

It would be really interesting to see if Pinkie is actually part crystal pony!

My headcanon is that Vinyl and Octavia are sisters.

Thank you! There we go! I know peeps gotta ship them together to create the fandom's best odd couple, and that's all well and awkwardly awesome, but they're just too different in my opinion. We saw from the Slice of Life episode they divvy their house down to a bi-colored line down the half of it. That's a sign of having to live with someone you love, but only juuust tolerate, lol!

Speaking of Vinyl, I like to think she actually is mute. Doesn't come up often as a problem as she's such open friends with most that they know her well enough to know what she'd say before she says it. Though more often then not, even if she cared to talk, most ponies like Pinkie and Octavia would interrupt her to finish her sentences for her like they do with Big Mac. While she can do sign language (though really, how does that work with hooves?) she gets by with tremendously good lip reading (which is why she always has her earphones cranked as high as they can go, she doesn't NEED to hear you) and expressing herself though her music.

 

As for other background ponies! I have my own little backstories to the Flower Fillies!

Rose inherited her last name of Luck, from her father's talent & favored pastime of being a halfway decent poker player. While his gambling was never bad enough to cause them serious harm, it always strained the family finances. When Rose grew up, she swore to start up her own flower shop like her mother did with her two college friends, Daisy & Lilly. Though her history with money has led her to be a bit miserly and a critical tomboy of a mare. She's also been Foalhood friends with Doctor (Just Doctor. His parents had very, very high hopes for him when they named him.) and off & on again love interests, though she can barely stand his antics and constant unproved theories of wild inventions like time travel.

 

Daisy is the more laid-back, understanding and flirtatious of the three and has been friends with Rose the longest. She really only went along with the idea of the flower shop because she wanted to distance herself from the fame & royalty  of her rich family and didn't really have any plans after college anyway. While Rose has the more athletic build, Daisy has the more homely & rounded figure, shes into yoga & frequent failed attempts at dieting.  I also ship her with Amethyst Star. I'm not sure why.

Her last name? Duke.

 

While the three have hit upon their own synchronized act of playing the damsel in distress in order to appeal more to stallions in a world of matriarchal society, heroic mares and a very low male population; for the rather anemic and frail Lily, its rather more of a reality. Lily's last name is Liver because she was born into a family renown for their expertise in butchering meat for the more predatory species of Equestria. As such, she's prone to being more jumpy & skittish over the littlest of things & tends to hole up in her room with her manga. (manga is totally cannon in Equestria! I can see Fluttershy leading a little comic book club out of her cottage once a month with Lily & other mares about town!) Despite her fear over little things like moths, bunny stampedes, broken flowers and milk, among other things, she's actually pretty good with horror movies & other intentionally scary things as she's gotten quite used to the more graphic things one runs across in comic book media. I can see her being a tad more accepting of a certain oddball of a Draconequus I have in the works...

Remember that royals often have a meaningless (but poetic) title or 2.

If you assume that Luna has a title like "The Eternal Night" or "The Unending Darkness" or some such, then the "she" in the prophecy obviously means Twilight.  If so, then the prophecy makes perfect sense & was completely accurate.

Well I do have a headcanon that has been going through my mind for over two years now and it's the fact that all of equestria was created by us humans in the future and it started from the discovery of universal energy/ magic and then we created the ponies as robots to try and correct our society. And there is evidence of futuristic robotics and technology in the show like the cutie map been really glitchy at the start of episode-12 in season-6. And now it's very likely true because of Hasbro now officially owning the trademark for robotic ponies. So maby it will come true in the upcoming movie or in season-7!?

The Apple Family parents died in a train crash when Apple Bloom was little. She has only vague memories of them.. Their death was also the driving force behind AJ going to live with the Oranges in Manehatten. Big Mac was much more talkative and outgoing before their passing, but he had to grow up too fast, so to speak, and he became a pony of few words as a result. I don't think any of three of them witnessed it.

 

Spitfire and Blaze are half sisters, and she's known Soarin since they were foals. That's co-opted from a fanfic I read, but I like it, so I'm keeping it.

I'm the oldest of 5 siblings.  IMO, Dash acts a LOT like my youngest sister.  The whole "look at me, watch what I'm doing" in the 1st few seasons, this is typical of youngest child.

 

Head Canon Dash is the baby of the family.  The whole boasting/ showoff thing is because growing up she had to compete for attention against older siblings.  She probably got a lot of "Why can't you be more like ...?" & that is part of why she was so anti egghead (+ being a jock, they tend to be that way).  Plus, weirdly, both Dash & my sister were very accident prone. A touch of Munchausen's Syndrome?

hmmm...well the funny thing is that my headcannon can change per episode depending on what happens since I base it off of cannon events buuuut...

 

 

I'll list them and my cannon reasoning behind them(if any).

 

1. Discord and Fluttershy are secretly or publicly a couple.
   
                                                                               My cannon reasoning:
   
   Ever since the Discord's first appearance, Discord and Fluttershy have had a chemistry that could easily explain this. Fluttershy was the only one who was immune to Discord's corrupting influences due to her kind heart, this could have sparked a small flame of interest in Discord. Fluttershy did not seem at all scared or intimidated by Discord either. In fact, she even seemed to look at him with great interest. This could easily be debated but I digress.
   
   Later on in keep calm and flutter on when Discord and Fluttershy shared the same house and we are NOT given a strict time period of how long they actually lived in the same house! At some point, the small flame could of easily sparked into romance between the two which could easily explain why Fluttershy kept on lying and sticking up for Discord despite all her friends she known for much longer telling her its a bad idea and why Discord actually behaved himself to a moderate degree.
   
   But because Fluttershy has fallen for Discord, she is blinded by her romantic feelings for him. Is she in love with him by this point? It's possible but unlikely. But she has fallen enough for him to allow it to blind her to normal logical reasoning until the end of the episode where we see TEARS in her eyes just before she throws the skates to the ground yet despite this, she STILL won't turn him back to stone. There is literally NO EXPLANATION as to WHY she would endanger all of Equestria other than the fact that her feelings for him are preventing her from doing the deed! 
   
   And to my final point in cannon reasoning, In our very latest season finale, the way Discord behaved when he learned that Fluttershy had been taken IS NOT a reaction a "friend" would have. A friend could reaction with anger yes but NOT to the hostile degree that Discord had. The look and expression and tone of his reaction all but screamed this: "They took my mare?! I'LL END THEM FOR THIS!" Couple this with how the two interacted once the real Fluttershy was found and it all but makes this romance cannon but sadly, just like my upcoming next head cannon, Lyra and Bon Bon being a couple, they leave just enough of a gap for people to debate on if this is the case or not.
   
    
2. Lyra and Bon Bon are a couple.

   The way these two behave in the 100th episode screams and shows "WE'RE A COUPLE!" so loudly and clearly that the only reason its not heard by the entire fandom is because many people wore their "Lesbian filter" earmuffs and their "Heterosexual Glasses" when they watched the episode. 
   
    
3. Rainbow Dash are Twilight are a couple. I literally have no cannon reasoning behind this but I just like to picture these two as a couple.

   Hoh-lrrrighty then! Gonna spit out a handful of the smaller headcannon barrage now before I pull out the big guns!

 

   Pinkie Pie & Fluttershy hate each other.

             Not outright hate, but more like that one other friend in the group of friends you hang out with that your personalities just clash together. Pinks is just too loud for Flutters, and Flutters is just to timid for Pinks. Get the feeling they only ever hang out together as a group and take efforts not to be alone together or they'll get a bit snippy.

 

Scootaloo DOES have parents, they're just so bland & inconsequential that, like Red's father, they just aren't allowed screentime.

  Applejack's parent's aren't dead. They both happened to be pegusai, got tired of living the farm life & ditched their family to be Wonderbolts. As keeping up the farm is so deeply ingrained into the Apple family traditions, Granny Smith disowned them & starts shooting dirty looks if anypony dares bring them up. As AJ has a farm to look after, can't exactly walk on clouds & Granny would run them off the farm if they ever came down to visit, she doesn't get the time to go visit them in Cloudsdale.

 

  Before they ascending into alicornhood, Celestia was a Unicorn & Luna was a pegasus. I've got "proof" for this one! Ever since Twilight ascended it really does seem as if her horn has been growing exponentially. I theorize that whatever quality you had & were more comfortable with using before Alicorn, only gets bigger & stronger afterwards. Luna seems to have the bigger wings of the two & takes every opportunity to use her wings, much like Rainbow Dash does. Celestia CLEARLY has the bigger horn & can be seen using her magic like a literal Lazer Cannon!

                             ...yes, I do spend alot of time staring at mare's attributes. Shaddup...

 

  Luna & Celestia don't actually have anything to do with the Moon & Sun. It's all a front! They just have the tradition of going out on their balconies during sunrise/moonrise in case any doubting ponies are keeping an eye on them & from centuries of telling the populace that their that important so nopony gets the idea to start up some kuu to overthrow them.  Wanna bring down Celestia, eh? Well, that'll make the sun come falling down on Equestia, won't it?

 

  Pinkie Pie & Ditzy Doo "Muffins" Hooves are destined to become Draconequui. Wrote that down on one of my other threads.

 

 Oh, speaking of parental relationships! Twilight & her parents have a strained relationship. Maybe from how she was taken off at a very early age for Celestia's school, how she once changed them into PLANTS or possibly something else further back... I feel that they don't get along well & have drifted apart.  I mean, look at how she cherishes her brother & TEACHER, Celestia so much as to write them letters so often that she brings it up with her friends, but no weekly letters to her parents? Heck, she keeps pictures of Celestia around her house, but none of her parents?

 

   Another headcannon I have is that all the magical leylines of Equestria converge on the place Ponyville was founded. Which is why not only The Everfree is a backwoods, magical hotspot for freaky-deaky, but why the town gets attacked or demolished on an almost daily basis! Like that show, Eerie, Indiana! Just all the bad luck, monsters & hooplah gets funneled on down to Ponyville!

 

  Also, I totally ship Lyra & BonBon! But not quite like what you're thinking!

     I really like how the 100th episode painted Lyra as the "normal" one. Sure, she may be a huge fangirl for humans (that in her world are just mythical stories like griffons & unicorns are in ours.) but she's level-headed & calm as anypony. She's certainly not about to go around magically mutating her hooves into hands or break the inter-dimensional laws of space & time just to meet a human. She's just normal & pretty bland for the most part...not like Bon-Bon...

 

   Bon-Bon is just another alias for her. Originally her name was Bom De Petard, a Prance super-secret agent that literally trotted the globe bringing down the biggest threats to Celestia's reign & whatever mission her agency slapped in front of her. She's fluent in every language & martial arts and can totally kill you with an eggbeater before you even flinch. She's actually got a really heavy Prance accent, but with as many disguises as she's donned over the years, she can be any mare you want her to be. She's also extremely Bisexual & a massive flirt from having seduced stallions & mares alike from every country, landmass & island in Equestria. She also has very intimate knowledge  in anatomy & chemistry, though the latter now only serves her to make her a decent cook for her current cover as a baker in Ponyville.  Trouble is... due to the main six solving most of the bigger problems & various other things happening behind the Agency's doors, they forced her into early retirement.

     As much of a globe-trotting flank-kicker she is, Bom-Bom isn't settling into country life very well. She greatly misses her days of action & whirlwind, torrid affairs. As such she gets a bit tetchy at times & isn't best at keeping this cover... under cover. She keeps finding things to claim as a national danger to the government, chomping at the bit to attack the monsters that wander into Ponyville or treating pretty much everypony that crosses her path as a steamy romantic encounter. Especially her roomate Lyra. Lyra never was that much for a libido and hadn't even considered mares like that... Until Bonnie moved in to her house...  Maybe Lyra can get a bit silly at times, but Bon-Bon is a regular firecracker, jackhammer & a depth charge rolled into one mare!

 

    It's with good reason the Agency retired her to Ponyville. They're so welcoming & used to odd ponies there, that even if Bon-Bon spilled the beans they'd just think she's just as loopy as Pinkie & her constant flights of fancy.
