So, no. A majority of them don't look very...pretty, and are either Mary Sues, Gary Stus, or Alicorns who are the son of Celestia and Discord or something like that.

Honestly, you lose ALOT from the magic in episodes that focus on other characters. (ahm do we really need another "pets" episode?). The juice thats covering the mane6 is what has driven this show, and the writers KNOW IT.

 

Let me just add, they are taken a HUGE HUGE HUUUUUUGE chance on Rainbow Rocks as they are pushing Vinyl Scratch for summer slam. She has a stupidly huge fanbase (why? dubstep is cool right now, 3 years from now it probly wont be, and her character will be pointless, again why you keep to the mane6), and a film is NOT the show you can afford to explore something in 90 minutes but NOT in an a season of your bread money.

I'm not going to jump on the bandwagon and display only rigid closed-mindedness towards the very concept of OCs in this fandom. I find it hypocritical that we are defining the very concept of the MLP OC only by its bad iterations, the same thing anti-bronies do about this fandom.

 

That said, I would be open to this concept if it was executed correctly. By knocking it before we try it, we're blinding ourselves to the possibility that such a thing can be executed correctly.

 

We're supposed to be supportive, not defeating.

Most OCs don't look appealing to the eye and most of them don't have a personality or substance to them, so I don't think seeing them in an episode in the show would make me like them at all.

I don't have an issue with them throwing in a well made OC of a popular Brony who is active in the community as a background Easter egg, or like they did this season for Make A Wish, but those should be rare.

 Well yes, if no effort is put into anything then it will be terrible but don't assume that because OCs are involved that it will be automatically bad.

 

 I'm going to let you in on a little secret...every character in FIS is an OC...

 My Little Pony was around for a long time before the current generation and so Faust and the others sat down and had to say; "Ok...let's make up our own ponies to live in this world."

 Sure they got paid to do it but that is because they are making a product.

 

 So if they were going to make a dvd with material featuring fan OCs they are going to have to put effort into it, otherwise they won't make money and hurt the brand. They won't just chose random ponies and say "Go!", they will choose fully developed characters. God OCs just won't make it and assuming they will is kind of an insult to the creators.

 

 Did Stellar Eclipse entering the show turn it to poop and ruin? Was he some sort of horrible blight upon the eyes? That is an OC who is in the show.

 

 In the end, if they put effort in and it is good then yeah I would buy it but that goes for any movie, book or TV show.

It would be based on the writers. Believe it or not the mane6 were in a way oc's at one point. It was the shows talented team of writers who gave them personality and the likeableness. So an oc episode if done correctly were the new characters are built up not based on community popularity then it could very well be enjoyable.
