I think Discord is completely reformed after his experience with Tirek. His experience was one that made him realize how much the other ponies care about him and that he has a place in Equestria. He now has experienced what he didn't have before, and that is true friendship.

we're literally dealing with the MLP version of Q here, so....I think we should stay on our toes just in case.

It appears as though Discord took the lesson of betrayal and friendship to heart. Unlike the endings of "Keep Calm and Flutter On" and "Princess Twilight Sparkle", he did not make overt sardonic or tongue-in-cheek remarks about having friends and doing the right thing. He was genuinely contrite. While I'm sure Discord will remain a mischievous personality, I highly doubt he would yet again turn his back on the Mane Six -- both for character reasons and for reasons pertaining to the narrative (i.e., it would be repetitive for Discord to betray them yet again).

I quite like the lesson he learned. My only wish is that Discord's initial heel face turn in "Keep Calm and Flutter On" hadn't been so rushed; otherwise it's interesting to witness the alteration in the trajectory of his character.

I think so now. Discord spoke so heart-warmingly and sincerely, I think he's really and truly reformed now for good.

He Definitely will not betray them. For each key to be a key you have to make a significant choice and it has to inspire someone else to do something, which means hes here to stay.

I believe that Discord is indeed reformed for good. His initial reformation in season 3 could be considered an earlier stage: he (until now) abandoned the evil aspects of his nature and grew to like friendship, yet still remained chaotic. In the season 4 finale Discord gave in to his worst impulses, but this time his lessons regarding friendship were still there and nagging at him in the back of his mind, resulting in several moments of guilt. Once Discord realized what he had done, the true despair that he showed made it very clear that he was truly sorry for what he had done. Discord has never been depicted as being in true despair until now, so I believe he is being sincere.

Discord is not perfect by any means, but neither are the mane six. I'm sure that he'll still remain mischievous to some degree, albeit with a much lighter nature, but he is no longer evil.

Toward the end of the finale, Discord asked if he would get his own throne in Twilight's castle, but he was told that he was not quite there yet. I hope that Discord will continue to appear throughout the show, grow, and develop, and I hope that he will eventually earn his own throne alongside the others.

Discord has, from what I've seen, first experienced true fear in this episode. Which comes to the conclusion that I feel he's really learned his lesson this time. You could even tell a couple of times throughout the episode that he knew what he was doing was wrong, it was like he felt he was just in too deep, may as well go through with it. Little did he know the effects of his actions. I think the best moment you can tell this is when he puts the 5 of the Mane 6 in the cage, and Tirek absorbs their energy. Discord looks away! His reaction to Fluttershy's tears (with Applejack's comfort), I believe really spoke to him and opened his eyes to show him that what he was doing was going too far. He has learned his lesson, you could see it in his face.

I believe this story fully completes his reformation. As others have said, he seemed genuinely afraid and scared when Tirek turned on him and drained him of his magic, and guilty for betraying everyone. He really earnt his forgiveness at the end.

I think Discord has got his lesson and he will at least not betray ponies anymore. But I would be disappointed to see him nice and cozy, he's a motherbucking Spirit of Chaos, he's not supposed to be nice, predictable or well-doing. His very nature is to be mischievous and play tricks on ponies. I really don't like how the creators are trying to dumb him down to the role of a mere jester used for comedic purposes. He should still maintain his huge individuality and play nice with ponies only because he wants it himself. I want him to maintain his chaotic nature, but now his powers can be used for good instead of for bad, against evil forces threatening Equestria. I'd say, with Celestia's voice:

"True, he's a mischievous Master of Chaos, but he is our Master of Chaos now." ;)

One of the main ideas of mlp fim, is that people NEVER change. We saw evidences. Rainbow Dash especially, or Fluttershy. And now we saw same with Discord. People never change.

Thank Celestia they're not people :)

Yeah, I love how they depicted his hesitation moments here and there, showing that he's really not sure if he's doing right or wrong, and there's some serious inner struggle going on within his psyche. This is a very good sign, because it shows that there's a part in him which understands Friendship.

He has learned his lesson, you could see it in his face.

Well, this is for sure, since the proof is there in the pudding ─ that is, in the medallion he gave to Twilight, triggering her "rainbow-eyes enlightenment". We all know yet that these artifact has been given to Mane Six when someone has been taught by them something about Friendship.

I can say with great confidence that Discords rein as a villain is over Tirek dethroned him. While I don't believe he will stop being devious, I can now say he won't betray them anymore, as I had once believed.

He's definitely fully reformed now. He's learned his lesson thanks to Tirek. And since he's gained the approval of all the other mane 6 now, I doubt he'll have second thoughts about staying with them.

Taking the season 4 finale to note, I would say that he is over halfway to be fully reform.

I strongly believe he will be evil anytime soon.

He is most definitely reformed. His emotions were real in this two-parter, as opposed to the past episodes where he just seemed to be faking everything.

If they really wanted to go on acting like he wasn't reformed, it would just kind of go and destroy a lot of what this finale what it is.

I'm not saying that his personality should disappear, though. Most definitely not!

I doubt it would happen, but if Discord would betray them again for some reason, I don't see the ponies forgiving him that again.

And vice versa: Imagine that from some reason Discord will start to believe that Mane Six betrayed him in some way (note: this doesn't have to be true; it's enough that someone convinces him it is), and that he have lost that fragile bond they established, he would be really really disappointed by this all "friendship" stuff, and it could be easy for some clever villain to exploit it.

Reformed, but there will be times where Captain Picard/Twilight Sparkle will do a few facepalms/facehoofs every now and then.

I have to disagree there.  Q was never one to be subservient, but Discord doesn't have much trouble following Celestia's orders.

I mean that Q was never evil, and Discord was, but I think they're more alike in the fact that they're basically... I guess you could call them anti-heroes?

Could make for a really interesting story.

I do like to think of Discord as Loki-lite. World domination was just a means to an end so he could have fun. The line about not stoning Ponies made me think he would never directly harm them even in his more disruptive mindset

I believe he is reformed. He will still mess with them and cause the occasional discomfort for the pony folk, but he will never turn his back on them again. I always knew he hadn't been truly reformed before that, but he actually was sad when he betrayed them this time. If they do do another discord betrayal, it wont be because of his own doings.
