We have nothing to show that this is a permanent transformation. Couldn't it be that this was a one time thing? The power did leave them as soon as the castle was formed. It isn't clear at this point if it was them "turning it off" or it "wore off" at this point.

I think it's going to simply be like the elements of harmony, when they need to use these powers they will be transformed into what we saw Saturday. When the powers aren't needed then they will simply be the same old ponies that we love and adore. I think people over analyze things.

Well, Lauren Faust wanted it to be sort of "magical-girl" like.

It has some elements of a magical girl show but it dosen't have as much focus on adventure and action as magical girl shows usually tend to have. Most of the villain and adventure episodes tend to the season premiers and finales with more of a slice of life approach in most of the series.

Well, I mean, the Studio kinda took a page out of Nintendo's book and had the Mane 6 mega-evolve...and Twilight's fight seemed to be every Mary-Sue OC creator's dream back in 2011...

 

Nah, but in all seriousness, I understand what you mean, and I too feel the change. Admittedly, while I'm not too keen on it, I'm confident they'll work it well. In my opinion, this season finale was excellent, and among the best in the series. I also loved how they integrated the enire season into this finale, rather than just throw a villain at us and a way to beat him like in the past.

It doesn't matter. The finale, and the show itself, for that matter, have maintained a high quality, even with the Rainbow Powers they just introduced It's all good in the neighborhood
