I definitely enjoyed this episode. First off, I enjoyed the humor and the lightheartedness that often accompanies spring. As for the story-line, wrapping up winter is the hardest challenge Twilight Sparkle faces, simply because she doesn't know where she fits in and she can't use the one thing she knows, magic. A good "welcome to Ponyville" episode for Twilight. The most important point I can make, one that cannot be emphasized enough: Winter Wrap-Up is one hay of a catchy tune.

It was nice to see Rarity showcase both her love of fashion and generosity without one existing at the cost of the other. The end lessons about not biting off more than you can chew and not looking a gift horse in the mouth (the latter being appreciatively punny) are good lessons to learn the easy way. Rarity's singing voice (or rather, Kazumi Evans') is good, but I didn't personally find the tune all that catchy. Rarity, as a background character, can seem quite shallow, but episodes like this that really focus on her and shine a light on her true personality prove this idea incorrect, she represents Generosity well. I don't want to start typing an essay, but I do want to add that I find it interesting that a seemingly inauspicious episode left such a large imprint with the 20% line and the presence of Vinyl Scratch. It is amazing how seemingly minor things can create such big waves.

I don't think I can stomach the situation. -
Fluttershy. She is tender and caring, and has experience taking care of both animals and children (even if it was just a sleep over). The scenario that was set up suggest we are lost and afraid, thus Fluttershy, being kind and empathetic, would be the best to take such a child in. My only worry is that I would grow up being spoiled (parents should say no to their kids more often), but I still see her as the nurturing motherly sort. It takes a village to raise a child, and no matter which pony took me in, they would have the support of their friends. Twilight would offer knowledge, Applejack would offer good sense, Rainbow Dash would be the cool aunt, Pinkie Pie would bring joy and encouragement, and even though Rarity doesn't strike me as a primary care giver, she would likely babysit and make sure Fluttershy had time to herself. I know I'm kinda cheating by bringing in the rest of the Mane 6, but that's how I see it Fluttershy as the adoptive parent, the others as aunts.

Your Unanswered Pony Questions
Frith is Magick replied to NocturnalTwilight's topic in MLP:FiM Canon Discussion
Where did Celestia and Luna come from in the first place? Is Discord the incarnation of Chaos, or a powerful being who enjoys chaos? Does Equestria have a system of crime and punishment? We see Twilight worried about dungeons and banishment (or combinations thereof), so these principles exist, but are they implemented? If not, how are the ponies so familiar with these concepts? As far as laws, do ponies co-exist so well that they don't need laws, or are they afraid of breaking the law? Is Pinkie Pie the only pony who knows about us, or does everypony know and prefer not breaking the fourth wall? -
Thinking of MLP puns is difficolt, why should I be saddled with the responsibility. I guess I should pony up and think of some mare, what the hay, some of them might be bucking hilarious. Just so you know, I may have to hoof it in a hurry if I get the trots. You can always hand the reins over to somepony else. I don't see myself stopping any time soon, I'm foal of these puns. Sadly the Pegasus ones just don't fly, I usually just wing it. Truth be told, food puns are what I was bread for, but they're starting to get stale, but none of you carrot all.

An earth pony villain would essentially be a human in pony form. They would be smart and creative rather than physically strong. It would start with simple devices and machines meant to make life and work easier, but would quickly spiral out of control. This pony would have everypony hooked on their inventions, so nopony would stand up to them. Soon these inventions would spiral out of control and start harming the environment. They would start with deforestation and strip-mining. Heavy industrialization would place factories over forest and natural habitats, and all the while said pony would become a maniac. They would be convinced that they are being helpful, when i truth they are hooked on the power of controlling the new-found technology. They would expand at all cost, with no regard for the rest of the world. Soon Equestria would resemble earth, barren and dead, and polluted, with only a thin facade of trees and life to keep us deceived. My image of an Earth Pony villain is a mash up of a CEO, entrepreneur, and the presidents of an unnamed first-world super-power. He or she would start out harmless, but try to destroy and control the world.

Equestrian Military Autocracy?
Frith is Magick replied to LunaUmbra's topic in MLP:FiM Canon Discussion
That video does offer a good explanation. I would like to add the idea that they would not show up in Ponyville as much, simply because when the show first started it was targeted at small girls. This explains why stallions also have "manly" roles like military duty and field work. The presence of this military strikes me as mostly decorative, simply a part of Celestia's image of a princess. Equestria is without a doubt an autocracy, but not dictatorial. The ponies seem to live their lives just fine, negating the need for laws. This makes Celestia a teacher and protector as a semi-deified goddess-queen. -
How Much is a "Bit" Worth?
Frith is Magick replied to Stalliongrad's topic in MLP:FiM Canon Discussion
As to the value of a bit in Equestria, that would depend on the economy. While the terminology may derive from an american currency, the buying power itself is different. Equestrian economics work much like RL economics, supply and demand. Gems and apples are very common, and thus they are cheap, while cherries (much like in RL) go for a relatively high cost. We also do not know what they have for taxes or profit margins, thus we do not know the true value of any of these reference products. If we assume they have no tax and no profits, then the bit likely worth 1/10 or less of a dollar. Because Equestria has a large supply of gems, one can argue that they are a wealthy nation and the bit is strong. One bit of diamond could easily be over $500 in RL. I know I am contradicting myself, but my point is that they have a completely different economy, making speculation difficult. -
If Spike Can Talk, Why Can't Winona?
Frith is Magick replied to VoxelBrony's topic in MLP:FiM Canon Discussion
Dogs have been pets and companions since the dawn of mankind, it is natural then, that a dog in the show would be written as a pet incapable of talking. I would like to present the idea that Winona is intelligent and capable of communication, just not using conventional language. Why some animals can talk and others can seems fairly arbitrary. It seems as if livestock (ponies, cows) are capable of talking while other animals aren't. As for Spike being able to talk in the human world, the world has changed and so have the rules. Also, it suits the story for him to be capable of talking. -
If she saw a hunter, she would politely ask him to leave her friends alone. If she saw a kill, she would rage big time. I don't see her physically assaulting a hunter, but a pony who can take on a dragon and stare down a cockatrice probably isn't scared of a gun. I can just imagine a hunter running out of a forest teary-eyed with a mysterious stain on the front of his pants. As for her views on hunting, she understands that some animals eat meat, but she wouldn't condone sport hunting. I think she would also prefer hunting game to the way we currently produce meat.

There may be equivalent characters in G5, or characters based on the CMC, but I don't see them remaining in their current incarnation. In season 4, it would be nice to see more of them, including them finally getting their cutie marks, but that would still be the current generation. In truth, I don't want to see the same characters in G5, simply because a new generation should have a new premise and cast.

In Super Speedy Cider Squeezy, Applejack calls the Mane 6 honourary family. Yes, Pinkie Pie is a part of the Apple family, but not related by blood. Another point is the lack of Apple features. Her colouration and style don't match, and members of the family have cutie marks related to apples or apple products.

Count to 100 before Someone who is a Cupcake or Lower Comes

That's classified information. Kowalski, find a way to get Private out of there. Why is this not a rhetorical question?

Hasbro wants to sell toys, I get that, but they're shooting themselves in the foot. They have marketers trying to boost sales when they could sell more by giving the writers and producers license to make an awesome show. In the end, I think messing with Faust's vision and trying to use the show as an advertisement will only hurt sales. Are they evil? No. Greedy to the point of idiocy? I sure think so.

What is your favorite thing about each Mane 6 pony?
Frith is Magick replied to Wingnut's topic in MLP:FiM Canon Discussion
Twilight Sparkle: She is always trying to learn and better herself. She does her best and pushes herself to do better. Rainbow Dash: Always bold and willing to face a problem head on. It doesn't always turn out, but she never gives up. Rarity: I love marshmallows. S'mores, anypony? Despite her often over-dramatic manner, she truly embodies generosity, using her abilities to help her friends. Applejack: I love how she doen't care about anything fancy, preferring to keep things simple. Pinkie Pie: Random and amusing, Pinkie lives for smiles and laughs. Even with her antics, she is surprisingly sensible. Fluttershy: My favorite pony. She is shy and quiet, but not weak. She loves animals and can communicate with them, and is always willing to stand up for her friends. Plus she's adorable. -
Either block them or ignore them. The only computer you control is your own, and the the only person whose actions you can change are your own. Can I ask what the sandwiches are for?

Parents telling little girls to NOT watch MLP?
Frith is Magick replied to Sergios117's topic in MLP:FiM Canon Discussion
I agree that not letting children watch the show is an over reaction. Parents need to control their kids, not the other way around (which is a disturbing and growing trend). Because it's bronies reading this, not the people who started the petition, that is who I will speak to. There are bronies out there who give the fandom a bad name. There is no shortage of violent or pornographic content (or even violent pornographic content) that stems from the brony community. Yes, this exists for every fandom, but that doesn't change the fact that it is disturbing. In addition, there are those who rage against haters and try to convert people, and in the end we end up turning our backs on the lessons of the show. Love and tolerate means listening to and accepting conflicting opinion. It may be a minority who does this, but people pay more attention to the bad than the good. While I agree that the article is irrational, I seek to make two points. 1) Just like the bronies these people are judging are a minority in our community, the parents who are overreacting are also a minority. 2) They have legitimate reasons for their opinions. The swastika seemed like a stretch, but just because the source is biased doesn't make it false. My end point is that rather than rage against them we should simply ignore it. Let them live in their fantasy world while we prove that bronies are not some vile social scum. There are brony parents, who I trust are doing a fine job of raising their children. I say we hold them as an example. In closing, I ask that you keep all rage relegated to the forums, after all, one of the things we are judged negatively for is launching a wave of resistance against haters. I am proud to be a member of a community that stands together in the face of adversity, but let us remember; love, tolerance, and friendship. -
Spike, so we could just chill and enjoy the grub. Besides, he was abandoned by the Mane 6 as soon as they got to the Gala. The original post said from the Mane 6, so in that case, Fluttershy . It would be nice to enjoy the gardens with her, and who knows, having somepony there with her could prevent a rampage.
