gaming Boss fights you can beat, but you know you will never master.
BrilliantVenture replied to TheMarkz0ne's topic in Media Discussion
Well, I'm still stuck on K. Rool's final boss in Donkey Kong Country for the Super Nintendo. I've tried a few times, but dang...the timing. And what makes me the most mad, is like...that game came out when I was super young and other kids beat it...10 year olds beat it, but me as an adult? no chance...*sigh...soon. -

Anyone else really dislike the "Bonra" push?
BrilliantVenture replied to ManaMinori's topic in MLP:FiM Canon Discussion
of course they're fictional...however, the concept is the same. Please excuse my use of hyperbole. It just makes me wonder sometimes how the actual writers feel when stuff like this goes down. I mean, if we look at hearts and hooves day for example, a lot of people feel that the episode is kind of the "Shipping parody" of the series, and I agree! I guess also, that one of the reasons I am biased, is I actually know a lot of shippers who don't limit themselves to just fictional characters, they do it to real people! I know that's not everyone of course, but those that ship "everything and anything and anyone" just make things...uncomfortable sometimes, especially when people are already in relationships, or even already married to someone! I guess when it comes down to it, it goes back to being respectful. If you like shipping, fine that's great! just please don't rub your ships in everyones faces, and be mature about your posts! It's like people who take politics way too seriously, and make their signatures controversial conservative or liberal stances. Or fill their cars bumper stickers with all their political/religious beliefs...it's like...sure, it's okay if you believe in that, more power to ya, but keep it to yourself eh? if people ask, you may tell...but if not, just keep it to yourself, or post it on a shipping website/blog. Personally I guess I'll sum it up like this... out of respect, I'd much rather see this: Normalbronyposter : I like the idea of lyra and bon bon, at least in my headcanon. Vs. Megashipper114OTP : ZOMG, THEY TOUCHED CHEEKS! THEY'RE SOOOOOOO IN LOVE, LYRABON4LIFE #OTP #CANON #SHIPPERSUNITE. There's a difference there. however, one of those examples is seen a TON more online than the other...which is why I believe some people get upset over it. It's like, who cares?...if they are? great. if not? great. It's up to the writers, and nothing is canon until it's canon. -
I dislike it, and I think it's a nasty habbit. However, I'm okay with it existing as long as the one who's doing it only lets it harm themselves and no one else. If you wanna smoke, fine...do it outside and away from EVERYONE ELSE. I feel strongly about this because someone very dear to me has a father that smokes...she was diagnosed with a nicotine allergy, but he wouldn't stop for her...in fact, he'd smoke in the house, and in the car...she had a smokers cough for 2 years, after she'd moved out. It was TERRIBLE. The fact that someone can be that selfish befuddles me. People need to learn to respect one another, no matter what... I've always hated the saying "Respect is earned, not given." That to me is terrible. You should respect everyone regardless of whether you like them or not, because it's the right thing to do. Civility is a lost art that needs to return. You want freedom? show that you can handle it. Show that you can use it without hurting others, and respecting others belief/health. so the TL:DR version? I don't like it, but as long as you're good about not subjecting others to the reprocussions, you're good.

Biweekly DJ Mix of New Brony Music
BrilliantVenture replied to Forward Bias's topic in Vinyl's Creative Resources
as one who worked in radio, the secret to a succesful mixcast, is to make a setlist of new/fresh tunes and classics, mix them flawlessly, and record your commentary (keep brief but informative ie. song names, new stuff coming to the podcast, little footnotes.) You may even want to make a special little section where the listeners/mlpforum users/anyone etc, can vote on a classic they'd like to hear in the next one, or select a "tune of the week". It takes a lot of work though, you need a good mic, good software, good mixing, good quality music files, FX sounds/liners, and commitment. Keep all that in mind, and I'm sure you'll do great! (and btw, you're always free to use my stuff if you like it too...in fact, pony.fm is a great place to aquire new music! I'd check there often!) -
Anyone else really dislike the "Bonra" push?
BrilliantVenture replied to ManaMinori's topic in MLP:FiM Canon Discussion
THANK YOU!... I cannot STAND it personally. I may get a ton of hate for this...but legit. It bugs the heck outta me! Personally, they're friends...not "frieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeendzzzzz!!!1111" like some people imply... Just...Friends...unless the story officially says otherwise, you take it literally, or not at all... there's SO MANY PEOPLE using it to propogate their belief system, and "push things" on others using the pair...I mean like...I don't care if you're gay or not. I treat everypony equally...but at the same time the propaganda side of it and reactions seem sooooooo insanely forced, which gets annoying. And on the topic of shipping...I'll just post what I've always posted. You ask around 90 percent of shippers if they are against arranged marriages? Most of them will strongly say yes. What is an arranged marriage?...a person who pairs two people together who he/she thinks is compatible against their wills in order to satisfy his/her beliefs or goals. What's a shipper?...a person who pairs two characters together who he/she thinks is compatible against their wills in order to satisfy his/her beliefs (headcanons) or goals. But then again, that's just my opinion, you are 100% free to disagree... -
Roller Coaster Enthusiast thread
BrilliantVenture replied to Dusty Soul's topic in General Discussion
Wow...this thread. This is so weird. Like, I remember being a kid, and playing games like Roller Coaster Tycoon, and watching travel documentaries on coasters, thinking..."I must be the ONLY one who would watch/care about this type of thing"...nope. Apparently there are a lot more of us out there than I thought! in other words...this is AWESOME! I remember when everyone was freaking out over the debut of "X" at six flags magic mountain. Dat 90 degree drop eh? But yeah! I was/still am quite fond of coasters. Good stuff!- 425 replies

rainbow rocks Who is the best Siren?
BrilliantVenture replied to SixShooterOutlaw's topic in Equestria Girls
I know there's a lot of love for sonata...and I know that aria doesn't get as much love as the other two...which is sad. But...I've GOT to go Adagio...I mean, that voice...that design...that...HAIR! I've always loved Kazumi Evan's work... Like...seriously, I don't think we've all taken the time to realize just how many voices she does... She's done Rarity's and Luna's singing voices, as well as Octavia's and Moondancer's speaking roles! I mean, legit...it's Kazumi Evans...Adagio wins by default. I also love her smoothe snarkyness...just makes her such a satisfying villain! I definitely hope to see more of her in the future! Not saying that Sonata and Aria weren't good too...I loved all three really! But I think Adagio wins the most with me, So thus...I CHOOSE U ADAGIOCHU!!!- 55 replies

Do you like listening to depressing songs when depressed?
BrilliantVenture replied to Invincible's topic in Media Discussion
I used to identify as "That random emo kid who listened to music non-stop and kinda just sat in the back of class" in school. So, yeah...I pretty much do. I generally listen to deep classical, melancholic melodic trance/ambient, or if angry, intense metal/dubstep /hardstyle/speedcore. I always generally listen to whatever my mood is. Same with producing. I only make what I feel. -

Thoughts on Windows 10. Only if you've used it!
BrilliantVenture replied to Treble Sketch's topic in Media Discussion
dunno if testing it out on other computers counts, but I have to say I'm not a fan. I find it slow, glossy (too much so) and less of a tool and more of a "glitzy tryhard gimmick" rather than a serious OS. I'm not a fan of the privacy issues, (even though they can be "Resolved"...my problem is that they shouldn't have even been there anyway) I'm not a fan of the OS size, the amount of bloat included, the amount of proccesses/background services...I prefer my OS's lightweight, efficiant, and less "trendy/AI enabled" than 10. I don't like the start menu/live tiles, not a fan of the overall layout either. To me, it's just too much like a giant phone. I'd rather have a computer personally. If you like it, then by all means...but for me? I'm gonna stick to the classics. -
movies/tv I Don't Like "Frozen"...0_0
BrilliantVenture replied to PonyFunk's topic in Media Discussion
you don't like frozen??? BUT IT'S POPULAR!!! EVERYONE LIKES IT, BECAUSE ITS SOOOOOOO GOOD, THE PERSON WHO MADE IT WAS A GENIUS AND THE MUSIC IS FANTASTIC AND...AND... ...I'm totally joking. I'm not a fan of it either XD Like legit...it's overplayed, overhyped, oversaturated...and in all honesty, I just find it annoying. Nothing against people who like it, but I'm right up there with you OP. -
mega thread Answer the question above you.
BrilliantVenture replied to ~asdf~'s topic in Forum Games
A: Electronic, but I'll listen to any genre as long as it's good! Q: If This is the Answer, what is the Question? -
Hm...There's a lot of good advice I've been given through the years, and I've been very blessed to have been surrounded with some really wonderful people in my life... I think if I had to choose two off the top of my head, The first would be an old saying I fell in love with as soon as I heard it. "Good, Better, Best...Never Let it Rest...Until Your Good is Better, and Your Better Best..." Those are words that I remember anytime I need motivation. When I'm doing a hard job at work, or when I'm making music... Or just getting through life in general. The Second would be to never take anything or anyone forgranted. Always make sure to tie up loose ends, before you can no longer do so. A few years ago, I lost my Grandfather, who was a wonderful and talented man. He inspired me so much musically, as well as personality wise. So before his death, I wrote a song just for him as a tribute. He loved it, and listened to it everyday...a couple months later, he passed...and at his memorial, that song was played in his honour. My cousins made tributes to him at the memorial, and they were great...but my tribute actually got my grandfather's approval...which was really special to me. I also made sure that my last words to him, were "I love you ol' timer, thanks for everything." So yeah...those two I would say are most likely my top 2. Thanks for the Question!

OMG...WOW...This is OLD! I feel like such a jerk for missing the notification!!! heck, I don't even know if you're still active!!! I mean, I saw this thing, and was like..."Wow! I forgot I did this way back when!" long story short... But yeah, I suppose since I've stumbled upon this, (if you still are interested that is...) Here's the much belated answers to your questions. *ahem* For me, producing is all about capturing memories/emotions, and putting them into a format that you can revisit anytime you want. You have to see and feel the world around you, and process it into music/art. For me, I started simple...much like you! I downloaded a program called LMMS, which is a free music studio application, and made my first record in a mcdonalds, with only a laptop and a pair of headphones. LMMS is a really good starting platform for new producers, (Shoot, I still use it today!) It'd also be best to invest some money in a midi keyboard of some sort...it's a lot less of a pain than trying to use your computer keyboard. It's not nessesary, but it's definitely helpful. Also, download some free sample packs...learning to make your own sounds is wonderful! But sometimes it's best to start off with just the basic sounds. Get some good drum packs, and download some Free VSTs...There are a TON of great free ones out there...just play around with them, and I'm sure you'll get the hang of it eventually! Most importantly though, is listening... Listen to music...all the time. Listen carefully to the structure, analyze the intricacies, and learn how to replicate them. I can't stress enough how important that is. While EDM has room for a lot of creativity, there are some basic rules when constructing a track, and that's what listening will do to help you in the long run! Now as far as how many people live around where I'm from?... ... .. .. . what are people? jk. Small town for the most part. Then again, could be a lot bigger really...I'm kind of a Recluse...so yeah. XD Anyway, sorry it took so long to respond, hopefully if you ever see this, it'll help you out in some way! Take Care! -BV-

Are you an introvert or Extrovert?
BrilliantVenture replied to Haruhi-chan's topic in General Discussion
in all honesty, I'm a bit of both...probably leaning more on the "introverted" side. Like, I'm fine going out and being in public n' stuff...maybe making conversation every once in a while. I'm definitely no Fluttershy, but when I get home? It's my domain. We generally don't have people over. (I mean, our house is pretty small in its own right) but home is where myself and my wife go to escape the noise of the outside world. So in a sense, yeah...introvert in some forms, but alright in others. -

Love it a TON! Thank you soooooo much! -
I'm currently still running XP. Probably will continue to do so, until POS2009 loses support in 2019. I'm more of a "simple" GUI guy, and windows 10 feels waaaaaaay too AI. I prefer my OS's lightweight and "platform/tool" ish...I dunno, just something about anything beyond that feels...uneasy to me. Just my two bits at least.
