There are 7 Jurrasic Park/Jurassic World movies as of this writing. So please take this opportunity to rate them in order of preference. And please give your reasons for your choices. Here are mine, from best to worst: 1: Jurassic Park (1993) The most inspired and original, with good direction, great musical score, bad script, and some characters who deserved to be dino food. 2: Jurassic World (2015) A fresh take on the series. Bringing back the theme park theme was a good idea. 3: Jurassic Park 3 (2001) No frills, no pretenses, just fun action; simple and effective. 4: Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (2018) A better sequel than Lost World was to the first Jurassic Park, but still lacking inspiration and a good script. The origins of Maisie Lockwood was an original touch though. 5: Jurassic World: Dominion (2022) Fun and entertaining, but the plot was absurd. 6: Jurassic World: Rebirth (2025) The new template for the horror genre; just add dinos. 7: The Lost World: Jurassic Park (1997) Clearly a movie Spielberg didn’t want to make and it showed in the final product.

Like the title says, what song best describes your mood at this exact moment? I know this thread sounds familiar, but I couldn’t find a match in my searches so we’ll just go ahead and hope for the best.

Dying Light. I don’t know if this counts as horror, but it seems close enough. I had a horrible time playing it, does that count?

Gilligan’s Island. It’s silly, but it’s supposed to be. It still holds up and is always fun to revisit.

Star Blazers: Space Battleship Yamoto (2012) I thought I’d try this one; it has some nice space battles and pretty scenery. So far, so good. I’m 8 episodes in and enjoying it.

I have literally thousands of VHS tapes. My entire collection was on VHS so when dvd came to the fore I had to replace many, but never got to all of them because VHS has a lot of titles that never came to dvd, especially the old or unusual stuff that you never see in the mainstream. I now have thousands of dvds, but I still have most of my VHS collection as well. They may not look as crisp as dvd but they still work just fine and they have certain advantages that dvds don’t, like the absence of menu screens that take forever to load and show a ton of spoilers before the movie, and the ability to stop mid-movie and play from that point a week later if I want, without having to wonder whether or not a dvd player bookmarked my spot. VHS is bulky and takes more space on my shelves, but I’m not giving them up for anything.

War of the Worlds (2005) This is NOT the new War of the Worlds abomination currently haunting Prime. This is the Spielberg version with Tom Cruise and Dakota Fanning. Having some talent involved, this movie does deliver in some ways, but suffers from some of the most irritating characters I’ve ever seen. That being said, Tom Cruise is always interesting to watch because he has screen presence, and Dakota Fanning is one of the best actresses I’ve ever seen, and commands every scene she’s in because she has such gravity and authority, despite her young age. A John Williams score also adds to this movie and brings it up to a 7/10 Jurassic World Rebirth (2025) The Jurassic Park franchise is pretty much a plug-and-play money machine. It doesn’t take much to rake in the millions because people like dinosaurs and the possibilities are endless. Unfortunately, they didn’t put much into this movie, nor did they exploit the endless possibilities. Instead they churned out a fairly amateurish installment that reduces the whole thing to the level of a big budget horror franchise. There’s no originality here; just a bunch of people doing the wrongest possible thing and getting eaten for their trouble. Instead of Micheal Myers or Jason Voorhees, you get dinos of various shapes and sizes, with new mutations added in case anyone was getting bored with the T-rex. But the template is the same; dumb people meet baddies and end up dead. At least the earlier Jurassic movies had a little more story, or at least a better gimmick to offer. It’s watchable, because you can always check your brain at the door and find something to enjoy with these movies, but if you want anything beyond a predictable slaughter-fest, look elsewhere. 6.5/10 The Big Year (2011) This is a movie about bird watching. Yeah, sounds riveting, no? But the big surprise is that this movie actually delivers. Owen Wilson, Steve Martin and Jack Black make this movie a lot of fun, and the originality of the story makes it fun and easy to watch, with lots of interesting locales and scenery. If nothing else, it’s different than all the other template-driven movies out these days. 7.5/10 I just watched Rio too. Such an awesome movie!

The first year of Junior High. It was a matter of going from bad (grade school) to worse. My few grade school friends went to a different high school so I didn’t know anyone, and I HATED the high school I had to go to. School has been hell from Day 1, but it only got worse when high school entered the picture.

My two daughters the first moment I laid eyes on them. A view I once had while riding on the Dumbo attraction at Disneyland one moonlit summer night; I could see the Matterhorn and much of Fantasyland, all lit up, and thought that was a defining moment in life. Some movies come to mind, but I don’t think ‘seeing’ movies counts in the context of this thread.

I have walked to work because it's so close, but I don't like to do that unless I have to because there's a lot of crime around here where I live. It's really not worth it to do anything but drive to anything nearby because it's the safest option.

I dropped a metal flashlight on a linoleum floor right outside a bedroom door where someone was trying to sleep. It made a loud crash and no one slept through it.

I remember sitting on something dubbed ‘cool concrete’ at the ‘Festival of Fools’ show at Disneyland when I was very little. Some overpaid ass came up with the brilliant idea of seating hundreds of guests on the concrete covered ground with the show going on around them (so you also had to twist and turn to see what was happening behind you as your butt went numb on the concrete). The show was too long and sitting on the ground is a stupid idea. And having a pretty term like ‘cool concrete’ didn’t make it any softer on the butt. So that comes to mind as a good candidate for uncomfortable seating. There was also a very unclean toilet in a Tijuana grocery store, which I’d rather forget altogether. That one was a different kind of discomfort.

The last trip that could be called a vacation was Disney World in September of '23. There have been other trips since then, but they could only be classified as forays into the pits of hell and not suitable for relaxation.

One of my time-honored favorites is, “Sh*thouse doors!” which serves in any situation where an exclamation is needed. I also use “Jacktard” for people I don’t like. There are others, but a lot of my home-spun phrases are spontaneous concoctions off the cuff and not regularly used.

I dropped off a package at the post office, put gas in the vroom-vroom, and went to the car wash. After I got home I detailed the rest of the car. I took a shower, made dinner and checked my usual round of stuff online. Soon I’ll watch a movie or two.

I bought a Japanese Rising Sun keychain. It’s nice and has a soft embroidered quality to it. Not bad for a few bucks.

Mine too, Roostah! The ONLY good Star Wars movie from Disney.

Rogue One (2016) After watching the Andor series, I wanted to watch this movie to see the whole tapestry of the characters’ story woven together. Rogue One is entertaining, original, and the only Disney based Star Wars movie I watch. 9/10 Kelly’s Heroes (1970) A unique blend of WW2 action with a hippy influence. Odd but workable, and it delivers. Great cast and story. 8/10 Supergirl (1984) This movie may be campy in a lot of ways but it's still the best (and only good) representation of Supergirl around. Helen Slater is the one elemant that puts this movie over the top; she's so real and has the kind of positivity and virtue you'd expect from the cousin of Superman. She's also pretty and feminine, which would probably shock and offend modern audiences, lolol. 7/10

I play it on very rare occasions. I know it’s not likely I’ll ever win anything, even small payouts, but sometimes it’s worth the two bucks for the false hope I get to enjoy while I’m waiting for the lotto results to come in. Sometimes even false hope can be fun.

I follow pretty much anyone who follows me, so it looks like 166 at the moment, but many of them are long gone from the forums.
