  1. She does have a job, even if she did bring bits with her. She works at a Sushi place.
  2. I’ve grown very tired of the “repeated morals” complaint, as it often seems to miss the point of characterization. The main characters have very rarely actually repeated moral lessons, the lessons are just similar to ones they’ve faced before. And that’s because the lessons are driven by their characterizations. When people complain about characters not “learning their lesson,” it’s really them complaining that the characters aren’t becoming completely different people. Rainbow will always be egotistical, Rarity will always be obsessed with dramatic, and Starlight will always be impulsive. The idea that if they do anything wrong along these it means they aren’t growing or changing is both narrow minded and short sighted.
  3. We’ve now had the chance to see both Hippogrifs and Sea Ponies several times, as well as see Terramar and Silverstream as both. Which design do you think is cuter?
  4. I enjoyed it very much. I did have some problems with some episodes, especially the finale, but it was still good enough to be my third favorite season of the show. That’s pretty impressive with all the chances that the season took.
  5. I’d like to see an answer to an oft asked question rather than another tribute episode. How about see8ng Scootaloo’s parents? Or seeing Starlight’s Cutie mark story/childhood? You know, things fans have wanted answers to for years, without having to actively address the fandom.
  6. Man... this is going to be one of those episodes that people gush over while I just sit here and think, It was fine... I guess. There’s nothing really wrong with the episode, but nothing in it really stood out to me, or won me over. Applejack served no personal purpose, you could have replaced her with anyone else and the story would have remained the same. That goes against the very idea of what a Map mission is supposed to be about, the Tree is supposed to send the people best suited for the problem. And what was the problem? The Kirin are hurting themselves by taking an extreme solution to avoid the possibility of future pain. Gee, doesn’t that sound familiar? Starlight should have been sent instead of Applejack, not only would that have been a great chance for her to interact with a main six member other than Twilight, it would have made the solution less contrived and rushed. Fluttershy is once again used for her talents alone instead of for her personality or experiences. It’s getting old, it seems like it’s the only reason she’s ever sent on these missions, to pull a clue or resolution of of thin air so the writers can save time. And that”s not even going into all the little ways she annoyed me in this episode. Autumn Blaze was... fine? There was nothing offensive or terrible about her, but the episode focused on her so strongly, and she didn’t do anything for me. Her rambling way of speaking could have been a good joke about her having to get used to talking again, but it just went on and on. It wasn’t that funny to begin with and it completely wore out it’s welcome by the end. The song...ugh. The song was fine, I enjoyed it. It had a good beat, fun lyrics and such, but it took what should have been a 30 second explanation and turned into a 3 minute song. And to make it worse, Fluttershy goes ahead and gives the 30 second explanation anyways. The song actively damages the storytelling by making the conclusion rushed, which has Autumn solve the problem completely on her own, which makes the reasoning for Applejack and Fluttershy even needing to go there just hopelessly irrelevant. There’s nothing really that wrong with this episode, it just... doesn’t do anything for me. And that’s really disappointing, especially as an Applejack fan. I want more from her than to simply be a part of good episodes, I want her to be the good part of good episodes.
  7. No, it wasn’t, you should go rewatch the episode. All she did was read Starswirl’s first go at the spell out loud, and that caused the mix up. She didn’t even attempt to rewrite the spell before things went wrong. The problem with the assumption that the spell reacted in an unexpected way is that this was supposed to be Twilight’s final test. If Celestia didn’t know what Starswirl’s unfinished spell would do, how is it a fair test? The Elements of Harmony were the catalyst that triggered Twilight’s transformation. How did Celestia intend for Twilight to transform if she didn’t know the spell would effect the Elements?
  8. My favorite relationship in the show, I love just how much Starlight needed a friend and mentor like Twilight, and I love how Starlight’s now doing her best to give back to her.
  9. Starlight risked her life to save Twilight and the others from Chrysalis. She went back to make amends with Trixie when she realized she was wrong to trade the wagon. A sociopath wouldn’t be able to form the kinds of close bonds with others to take those kinds of risks, they can act kind and caring to seem normal, but they wouldn’t be willing to go that far. Just because someone acts in a way that a sociopath would, doesn’t make them a sociopath. Starlight seems to suffer from an anxiety disorder (especially in season six), most likely rooted in abandonment issues, that mixed with her lack of social skills and impulsive behavior cause her to act without considering either all the consequences, or the thoughts of others. But just because she acts impulsively doesn’t mean she can’t care for other the same way normal people do. In fact, I’d say her affection for Twilight is very genuine, especially her clear desire for Twilight’s approval.
  10. That is absolutely hilarious, becuase that’s exactly what both Tempest and Starlight did as well, they both shut themselves away from others, and it was the consequences of that choice that made them the villains they were. The only difference between Starlight, Tempest, and Moondancer was time, and will. Only a couple years at most went by for Moondancer compared to Starlight and Tempest’s entire formative years, and that amount of time suffering alone is what gave both of them the will to actually do something about it.
  11. Sunset Shimmer’s motivations weren’t about power, it was about proving that she deserved to be a Princess of Equestria. To do that, she thought she needed more power to achieve her goal. As for Starlight, her motivations and backstory have to be some of the most misunderstood and misrepresented motivations of any fiction I have ever seen. Some of this is the fault of the writers, for not showing more clearly. Some of this is becuase there is no one thing you can easily point to to blame for all of Starlight’s actions. But at this point, most of this is the fandom’s fault, for continuously propagating false and idiotic arguments for years now. And for continuing to do so no matter how many times it’s been explained to them. If they were honest in their critiques, the “turned evil because of one friend” BS would have disappeared before season six.
  12. First off...Ha! I called it! The Tree of Harmony is sentient and is growing and changing just like any other living thing. This was a really good episode, it might even make my top ten of all time. I’ll have to see it a few more times to get all thoughts together first though.
  13. Pinkie Pie. She would use the Chewbacca defense and get me off easy as pie.
  14. If that was true, he wouldn’t have needed a plot to steal the Tree of Harmony’s power with the plunderseeds.
  15. Wow. This is so heavily opinionated there isn’t even a point in trying to debate it. Except one thing... Flim and Flam should absolutely have a crotchety old mother who hassles them over their shady business practices.
  16. Oh man, I’ve got way too many to choose from... Alright, I’ll limit it to four current favs.
  17. Apparently Scoots somehow completely forgot who Lightning Dust is. Cheerilee is disappointed in you, Scoots.
  18. Well, from what little we know about pony Starlight’s childhood to teen years, I’d say she’s lonely, but covers that up with an edgy, antisocial front she uses to keep others at a distance. She’s bitter and angry, with a superiority complex up to her eyeballs. The most interesting thing about Starlight’s pastthough, is the part we don’t know about. What was it that gave her the drive and purpose to try and create her own perfect society? Whatever it was turned Starlight from a bitter edgy outsider into a clear headed charismatic leader. I wonder if magic from Equestria could have a similar effect on human Starlight, giving her the power to finally do something about her emotional problems she’s had since she was a child.
  19. A medal is a reward for the individual, something they can show to others or display for their achievements. It’s a personal reward, and it’s impact is largely towards the person who receives it. The stained glass window is a public work of art, something that future generations will see and appreciate what happened in the past. It’s for everyone to remember what happened, and who achieved it. In the most simplistic of terms, it’s the difference between a Medal of Honor, and the Vietnam memorial.
  20. Their actions were immortalized in stained glass in the castle throne room. It’s like having a statue or other work of art dedicated towards them, a permanent memorial dedicated to them.
