The fact that you need to ask proves you will never understand! I kid, but for one thing I love Octavia's classy look, (dat mane, dat bow tie!) for another she plays music. I can't play myself, but I do love to listen. She also has "boring" colors, black mane with a grey coat. Which happen to be my favorite combination and what I would choose for myself should I become a pony. Beyond her looks, well, she has no official personality, but going off what the average of all the fanfics have. She's upper-class and sophisticated without being a stuck-up little horse. A mare who does what she does because she enjoys it. Despite looking otherwise. And of course because she's secretly a part-time assassin! Look at dat class! Actually I've always preferred background ponies over the mane 6. Maybe it's just because fan made material doesn't have quite the same E for everyone restrictions as the show, but they are all so much more interesting. I could go into further detail, but instead I shall link you to my favorite Octavia. http://askoctavia.tumblr.com/

In the real world? As powerful as Twilight? You better lock me up and find a way to negate my magic. Because any one who would judge something or someone by it's cover, arriving to some crazy conclusion that isn't true at all, would find out they just got turned into a pile of dead dust. Let's just say I wouldn't use my magic for good. At all. Mark my words, heads would roll.

Man, I think that if a women yelled at me and called me a gay, Satan worshiper I'd punch her right in the face. Or something. I wouldn't just stand there. I'm a straight, Christian (Though my patience leaves much to be desired. http://mlpforums.com/public/style_emoticons/default/dry.png ) and I would take massive offense at that. I like ponies, and there is nothing inherently wrong with that. Anyone who believes otherwise is a judgmental fool who's words are worth nothing.

My heart exploded twice at that obvious Doctor Who reference! That was all sorts of awesome! And of course, you can NEVER have too much Octavia, I hope we get to see more of her in Season 3. Though if she gets her own speaking lines and such it had better be well done. And a beautiful voice, not the typical stuck-up Canterlot one. Of course she would have to be classy. Naturally.

Rainbow Dash-- She has been, and will continue to be, the awesome badflank of the show. My opinion of her hasn't really changed. Though her fangasm around the Wonderbolts is rather annoying. Twilight Sparkle -- She reminded me of me a lot. Still does. I can empathize with her the most. And I like that about her. I hope she shows up more in Season 3. Rarity -- Ugh, just like I would love TF2 a lot more if the demoman was gone. I'd love MLP a lot more if Rarity was gone. Whiny, stuck-up, fashonista who doesn't live up to her element? Blech. Ugh, can we just stop talking about her? I dislike people and ponies like Rarity. (Or some of those snooty Canterlot folk. They need a a character like Robin Hood to kick their flank a little! Hey, who wants to draw a Robin Hood pony for me? xD I kid. Unless you want to.) Applejack -- Her accent annoyed the heck out of me. Still does. But she's tolerable I suppose. Though in my opinion she lives up to her element too much. Sometimes you need to be able to bluff. Not lie, just say a vague statement and let them arrive at the wrong conclusion. Though, I agree with the statement that sometimes "The truth is the best lie." Fluttershy -- My opinion of Flutters hasn't changed much. She's really cute, but if I was transported across time, space, and reality to Equestria I can safely say I would take advantage of her hospitality. Pinkie Pie -- For the first season and a half, she was an annoying immersion breaking, stupid, boring slapstick comedy character who could do nothing but laugh or be laughed at. At least she lived up to her Element I suppose. But I would always cringe and hope her scene was over quickly whenever she appeared. Then the Baby Cakes episode came and I saw that she had more to her than just one-liners and slapstick comedy. In that one episode, enough of her was shown that she became a true character and not comic relief. (In a show that doesn't need comic relief mind you.) Ever since then I've liked Pinkie much, MUCH better. EDIT: Suppose I should mention Spike... Uh, well. He exists. There you go.

Which pony would you swap bodies with?
Archangel replied to Tom The Diamond's topic in Sugarcube Corner
Either Twilight, or the Doctor. That was a tough choice. I picked Twilight because I could cause a LOT of mischief, and I personally wouldn't get in any trouble. Twi's rep would be ruined though. Molestation of the princesses, and I'm sure I'd try to court Octavia while in pony form. Now if I was the Doctor, I'd get the TARDIS and Sonic Screwdriver. 'Nough said. -

Conjecture on a hypothetical human invasion of Equestria?
Archangel replied to Scritches's topic in MLP:FiM Canon Discussion
Yeah, that's entirely possible. I'm still in the belief that the shield is no easy feat to maintain or set up. Yeah we'd declare war openly, but I don't think we'd give them much time at all before we started flinging the heavy stuff. It wouldn't surprise me either if something like Pearl Harbor happened. Say we hit Canterlot hard and fast and THEN make it public. Now this example isn't realistic in anyway but I'm just trying to make what I said easier to understand: We sneak a nuke into Canterlot. (Or even just in the stone below it in the mountain. Gravity can do the rest.) Detonate it, and then openly declare war. Okay, I was under the impression we could pick any means of transportation, so I was just going by the "There was a magical rift in time and space on some other location on the planet that we are coming from." So there wouldn't be any ships in orbit. I suppose Celestia would be a threat to ICBMs, but that's what the Pearl Harbor-like attack would be for. No I don't, but I'm trying to only go off of what we've seen in the show, or know to be confirmed. Faust herself said she wanted to keep Celestia mysterious, (Yes I'm well aware she left.) so we don't really know how high her limits are. Right, okay, sorry. That sentence of mine was supposed to be for some comic relief, it was a joke, about how we would lose because of my irrational fear of the spiders Luna would be throwing at me. Yeah, I wish I could use magic too. I probably would be tearing stuff outta the sky for fun! Without trying to kill people though. But at that distance you also can't really tell whether it's a jet or a pegasis except for the smoke trails a jet leaves. So if we could mask that. Plus, we also don't really know the extent of unicorn power, it took GROUPS of the most powerful to move the sun and moon. So depending on the power, you'd need more than one to tear one out of the sky. At least I'm assuming. And I'm also under the impression that telekinetically lifting every book in a library and reorganizing it instantly while reading another book is something only those near Twilight's level can do. And that a fighting plane would be far more difficult. Then again, she did stop Rainbow, so I'm not sure. (And on that note, if Twilight is the Element of Magic, who's more powerful? Twilight? Or Celestia? Since Twilight is easily more powerful than a group of unicorns, could she control the solar bodies?) Hah! I agree with you on that one. 'Twas another comic relief thing, though I think you picked up on it this time. Well that was fun. Unfortunately, I need to go to bed. I have a 5km race to run in the morning. Keep the discussion running for when I get back! Also let's hope I managed to do the quotes right.- 230 replies

Conjecture on a hypothetical human invasion of Equestria?
Archangel replied to Scritches's topic in MLP:FiM Canon Discussion
So I noticed I forgot to cover a few things in my post. *Ahem* We don't know the true strength of Shining Armor's shield, what we DO know however, is that it is difficult to maintain, and takes time to set it up. It wasn't there during the Discord incident and they only had it up during the wedding because Equestria received a threat note. Humans would not leave a threat note. We would bomb the place before they even knew we were there. Shining would be eliminated. And then there's the Alicorn sisters. I think they would be in the same position as Shining since they are both in Canterlot most of the time. And Canterlot would be a priority target. But for the sake of argument, let's assume they've lived. They can move the sun and moon. Whoop de do? What's that going to do? Because unless they want to smash said orbiting body into the planet... The only other attack we've seen Celestia capable of is a death ray type thing fired at Chrysalis. But being concentrated on only one target would not really be all that of a disadvantage. And Luna could... Throw spiders on a web. Well, clearly we're doomed, spiders, I mean heck that would stop me! xD Also, we've only seen Alicorns, and Unicorns, move things they could SEE with their magic. They can't move stuff behind doors and walls. At least, not without extreme concentration, complete control over the object, and knowledge of room layout. So anything high enough up, or heck, even just fast enough, and they'd be able to do diddly squat. And I'm giving them the best case scenario here, like, they are all Twilight Sparkle scenario. Again, Equestria's screwed. So. I'm game! Who wants to write the letter to congress?- 230 replies

Conjecture on a hypothetical human invasion of Equestria?
Archangel replied to Scritches's topic in MLP:FiM Canon Discussion
Humans would win. Easily. We have out tech'd Equestria, Equestrian combat methods are archiac, (Judging by the weapons and armor used by the guards and how the incident with Spike was handled.) and I believe that since magic is something they study. That it's just like any other type of power, Electricity or Nuclear. Humans are extremely inventive and resilient. We would probably find a way to render a unicorn attack inert. Oh, did I mention we have weapons capable of destroying all of Canterlot and the surrounding area in one strike? And that said weapon wouldn't even need to be on the visible horizon from it's ground zero? Ponies are also shown to be far more peaceful and trusting than the opposite. We could easily take advantage of that. The Elements of Harmony would be the only thing that could have a hope of stopping us. But I doubt Twilight and her friends would be able to get their act together in time to save any major cities. Plus, they seem to need to be close to the source of destruction, and only focus on one target. We have ARMIES. As my closing statement I would like to remind you that, again, we have weapons that launch from beyond the horizon. Equestria would be screwed.- 230 replies

Wasn't their special talents strongly hinted at in the one episode where they put on a play? I can't remember who's was which, but Scootaloo was doing the songs I think, and then Sweetie Belle who didn't want to do that could sing really well and helped Scoots out. Similar events for each pony pointed out what their strong points would be. Something like that. It's been a long time since I've seen that episode. I didn't really like it that much.

Which would you like to have their own episode?
Archangel replied to Mersander's topic in MLP:FiM Canon Discussion
That was difficult, lots of good choices. I would prefer they ALL get made. But if I had to choose, I would prefer Octavia. But if I got to pick what it was about. I would prefer that The Doctor and his companion (Colgate) encounter Octavia and Vinyl Scratch in a series of events that sends them on an epic adventure! That way, they all get in. EDIT: I've just read that some people have really boring answers. "They're background characters, they should stay that way." </mockingtone> C'mon people! You can be more imaginative than that. You're only picking one anyways. It's just for fun! Not actually going to happen... Although if my suggestion did that would be awesome. -
