  1. I went into this episode with no expectations. It ended up surprising me, not because it wasn't predictable (they made it super obvious that Big Mac's sleep problems were tied in with the conflict), but because I was expecting the episode to actually have a moral. The plot wasn't inherently bad, but it felt like something more for a show like Adventure Time than FiM. Then the episode as a whole was mildly entertaining, no more or less. On the plus, I like the Great Seedling design, and at least the flashback puts the final nail in the coffin for the incest theory of Applebloom, may it rest in pieces.
  2. When you say whether or not he was born different, that means different things. Yeah, his body was normal, but the mechanism of his birth was way different, I don’t think Twilight merely generates heat. Also, the real question is whether all dragons Spike’s age are that small, or he is just a runt.
  3. 200 was better by a long shot. 100 is just a mess, without the context it makes zero sense.
  4. One thing I forgot to mention. This episode not only didn’t answer the egg question with Spike, but opened up more questions with how his egg ended up with Celestia rather than with the rest of them.
  5. Pepperoni, sausage, archichoke hearts, blue cheese Who is best dragon?
  6. I don't think this episode was bad, in the very least I found it to be better than Uprooted, but it felt very clunky. It had a lot of parts that worked in the end despite not quite fitting. The worst offender was the laugh fire, but even some of the assertive Fluttershy bits felt forced. I was disappointed that Smolder's brother wasn't a new character, but I wasn't the least bit surprised when it turned out to be Garble. I was also disappointed that Spike's own egg troubles weren't mentioned, though at least we got a throw back to Fluttershy loving baby dragons. One thing is I I found this episode's theme to be a bit more interesting than the other "be-yourself" episodes, as it focused more on what strength of character, and actually showed real pressure to conform. In retrospect, maybe Garble's portrayal here is consistent with his original appearance. Dragon Quest sucked, but if I recall correctly Garble was initially friendly towards Spike, he only took issue with him after he refused to join in their cruel games. He was still their leader though, and in order to make him sympathetic here they had to somehow up the jerkiness of his friends, so I'm still struggling to accept this characterization. I do accept him being into Beatnik poetry though.
  7. Is there a way to search this? Otherwise I have no idea. Highest I’ve seen recently was for a comment on American Jesus about how the song is about nationalism, not religion.
  8. I only wash it with shampoo once a week, apparently that actually keeps it cleaner than doing it every day as it keeps the natural oils from being stripped out. I shower every other day, doing it more often would be bad for my skin.
  9. The proper name for such a creature is Ophiotaurus.
  10. I was getting worried about our villain team when it was over halfway through and they still hated each other's guts, but it wrapped up nicely. We could seem them genuinely binding, I really liked the Twilight scene. It's kinda sad that they rejected friendship at the end due to Chrysalis's particular neurosis, this comic seems to basically be canon at this point: https://www.deviantart.com/underpable/art/Hay-No-655803554 At this point, it appears the series finale could go either way with whether the villains end up getting redeemed, it depends on whether they ultimately end up accepting friendship despite their outward rejection of it. I hope they get their happy ending, they've grown too much to just kill them off, and if they fail it would be a tragedy in the classical sense.
  11. I've seen a lot of people come back to the show and having their passion renewed this season, I have no idea what you are talking about.
  12. I liked this episode, though the moral of "be yourself" has been done to death, and I find that it was shoehorned into this episode. There is a big difference between conforming to please someone and wanting to learn how to perform local customs (the latter is something I personally relate with as someone who has lived as an expatriate for a significant part of their life), and this episode straddled the line between the two. The one thing here I found really interesting was it's emphasis on Ponyville's non-inclusive language and how the non-ponies felt excluded, not just Yona.
  13. It's funny, I have zero interest in sports so I get apprehension whenever I see the word "Buckball", but I've really liked both episodes. I didn't like Quibble Pants much in his first appearance, but I liked him here. The moral was a given, but I found it very interesting how they covered this topic in a show like this, and I really liked the character dynamics.
  14. I know, and that's what makes it even worse - it was never even plausible in the world of the show, yet we were expected to take the possibility seriously for the sake of drama. That's what I meant when I said the episode wasn't silly enough for it's premise.
  15. For someone reason I can suspend my disbelief for a world of colorful magic ponies were the princess of friendship is socially awkward, but expecting me to accept that a librarian was thrown out over one book that went missing is too much. The premise of this episode was very silly, and unfortunately the actual episode was only half-devoted to it's silliness.
  16. The ending managed to catch me off guard, though I should have seen it coming a mile away. Luna was acting very suspicious. Because of the ending with Spike this episode was much better than I was expecting.
  17. Ooh, it's a dragon. A very edgy dragon.
  18. I’d count it - most people aren’t knowledgeable about WWII fighters.
  19. Despite being a kid's show, Friendship is Magic has some very esoteric jokes. Here are three that I know of: 1. Deceptive Cadance - explained here. 2. The Amniomorphic Spell - it's a complicated way of saying Starswirl the Bearded is a Hairy Potter. Apparently this one wasn't intentional, while the previous one was, but it's still good: https://scifi.stackexchange.com/questions/123139/why-did-starswirl-the-bearded-invent-an-amniomorphic-spell 3. Time Dilation Equations - from the episode It's About Time: https://derpibooru.org/406579?q=english Does anyone know of any more? Anything that's more obscure that just a reference to a popular film geared at adults works (so the Big Lebowski and Rick and Morty cameos don't), it's got to be truly esoteric.
  20. This one was pretty mediocre, with a forced conflict just for the sake of having a conflict. It's clear they are just trying to get this out of the way to set something up for later. Still, it was nice to see the Spirit of Harmony and the Student Six again.
  21. I’m really looking forward to this. Once the show is finished we can look back on it as a complete work rather than one that is unfolding. Lauren’s vision is also interesting on its own, and once the current run is finished there is no risk of interference, so they both can be compared and contrasted as their own things. ...please let this be legit.
  22. It probably would have been a bigger shock if the surprise was kept hidden...
