Also, I feel like anyone that doesn't shut up about S2-4 being "OMG TERRIBLE" is stupid. I know people have their opinions, but geez, there's no need to point out every single flaw in those seasons.

Exactly. Season 1 imo is either the 3rd or 4th best season. It was good no doubt and had a different feel than the others, but I don't know how you can seriously say it (and/or season 2) is the only good season. I think people saying that are just mad Faust left the show (which I have no problem with. The episodes she wrote were no where near the best of the show and her actual role/influence is not really known. Plus McCarthy has done a great job as far as I can tell).

I think that analyzing the show is kind of silly and the fact that there's an entire subculture of review dedicated to this not fully thought-out TV show is kind of... well, also quite silly. 

 

That being said, I do watch the reviewers. Why? Because I like to hear people's opinions, really. I'm always curious, no matter what it's about. And also out of boredom. Much of it is boredom.

 

But I like to hear them complain especially, because I think rage, criticisms, and complaints about things I don't care all that much about are entertaining. REAL rage, that is. Not that fake angry parody thing some reviewers try to do and end up not really hitting me in my humor spot. I'm sorry that sounds so crude, but it's the truth.

 

Honestly though, I'm pretty much not fond of most of them. Their attitudes tend to veer somewhat on the pretentious side (especially Digibrony) and they kind of give me this air of arrogance in the way they speak. If they're not arrogant and pretentious though, they often have to fill their reviews with these silly joke plots in a failed attempt to be funny. (to me, at least) I just want to hear the opinions! Do we have to go through this long intro and then a whole joke plot about how another reviewer crossed a different dimension into your Youtube channel? That's not a complaint exclusive to brony reviewers though.

 

Another thing is that a few also take the show really seriously. A bit too seriously for my liking and keep espousing about how it's the greatest thing since sliced bread and the best show ever aired. It's fine if it's your favorite show and you really love it; but I find it difficult to believe that MLP is the best show ever. It has so many issues that I don't want to go into that other childrens' shows avoid more competently, to be honest.

 

...I think honestly, it'd be easier to say which reviewer ISN'T my least favorite. I'd have to go with Dr. Wolf as everyone else has said for that. Because I like to watch his mock therapy videos. Sometimes, they can actually be really insightful. I especially like it when they start veering away from MLP specifically and more into general issues about life. And also, he has a really soothing voice that never grates on my nerves. I just wanna give him a big hug. :3

Funnily enough, if I was picking for flaws I could get more material from season 1(and season 2 to some extent) than I could 3&4. Season 1 is really the low-point once you strip the nostalgia goggles off. 

 

Guys, I understand. I like S1 on that merit as well because I watched it first(of course) when I was 19 and fresh out of High School and I felt like I was on top of the world with my whole life ahead of me and ready to forge a place in the world while I was becoming a part of this new and wondrous thing called the brony fandom. I understand how it impacts you, it's the same reason Silent Ponyville(the first big fanfic I read) is still one of my favorites even though I've probably read far better stories as time went on.

Mm, my least favorites are Digibrony and ILoveKimPossibleALot. Mostly Digibrony for content, and mostly ILKPAL for personal reasons and personality.

Digibrony is an arrogant prick, pardon my French. Nitpicks at fucking everything and is just flat out annoyingly boring to me.

The dislike I have for ILoveKimPossibleALot is personal. I am in a project she is doing, I voice a few characters in it. Holy fuck, she is annoying. Her entire staff is so unprepared and shit and she had a huffy fit when one of the voice actors left due to unprofessionalism. She really showed the true side of her that day. Her videos are really dumb with her stupid "jokes" and "references" she adds. She's fucking annoying. The project hasn't even GONE anywhere. You have to be the 3rd person I've seen mention that about her (seen two YT comments that said she was a pain to deal with).

 

I've always assumed that most fan projects were basically disorganized chaos due to their hobbyist nature. After hearing her singled out that many times, I have to wonder if my original assumption was wrong about large collabs in general -- or if her projects are in a category all their own.

Well, I normally dislike brony "analists" in general (yes, that missspelling is intentional). But if I were forced to choose one that I dislike most, it could be a tie between digibrony, and Ilovekimpossiblealot. Digi's reviews seem to come off more as bashing then an actual review, and kims aren't even reviews. The few videos I saw of hers she litterally just listed off stuff that happened in the episode. That is a recap, not a review. She offered no commentary or thoughts on how well the episode was made, she just listed stuff that happened.

TL;DR Everyone has opinions, & while I agree some people take it too far, I don't feel like anyone here has been doing that... Everyone here seems to be fairly reasonable towards each other, & saying "TBH threads like this shouldn't exist" just makes you into what you are angry about, a person bashing someone else's interest...

 

Honestly if people want to open a discussion thread on the subject i think that's fine. It's just when you word "who are your LEAST favorite" it INVITES negativity. A simple op of "who are your FAVORITE & least favorite, it would have done the job" because then its a balance. You may get some people who will list their favorites in here but for the most part your going to get a lot of people being critical about the fannon instead of investing, recommending, and supporting those who does a good job. Anyway best of luck to this thread, hopefully people can not spout bile.

I think my problem with a lot of brony reviewers is that none of them actually analyze from anything but a frictional standpoint.

 

No discussing the story and what deeper ideas you can get from it

No proposing interesting theories

No world-building

No making comparisons(these are fun and I've done several comparing FiM to Highlander and Twilight to Duncan)

No fun trivia or talking about cool shout-outs

No pointing out the the various instances of getting crap past the Radar.

I don't follow any reviewers. I like to form my own opinion of the show/episode, and I don't' care who likes it or not.

 

I post a little blurb in Show discussion on what I liked and disliked about the episode, but that's it. I don't' over analyze a kids show. I watch the show to enjoy it, not to write reviews/analyze the hell out of it.

Ok just watched Antony C's review for Twilight's kingdom and while it wasn't awful (and as bad as his A Canterlot Wedding review), I still was stunned by his horribly lazy analysis at times. However, at least this time he did make a couple good points.

Right now, I still dislike him and I think he tries way too hard to bash things (he's worse than Tommy Oliver in this regard. What's telling is not only is he a RedLetterMedia fanboy like Tommy and Digi, he's ALSO apparently a Confused Matthew fan! lol CM is definitely not someone you should emulate )

First off, I'll just say that I think brony reviewers aren't that bad. Of course most of them can be nitpicky at times, but most people review MLP: FiM because they like the series. Their reviews are nothing more than them just stating their opinion, really.

 

Although, there is one reviewer I dislike called Cuddlepug, an anti-brony from deviantART. Go read his review of Testing Testing 1, 2, 3. I dare you. -3-

Digibrony, Byter and CR as you can never really please these guys and in the case of guys like CR are really obnoxious and act like jackasses if you don't think the way they do.

 

Then again I dislike the entire analysis community. Let me put this way, for a show about pastel colored ponies, people in said community take the show way too seriously and they can really suck the fun out of it. The look too much into the show and make a big deal at the most minor of continuity errors (and some blow up because it interferes with their headcanons). I really don't care if the show has a perfect continuity or not all I care about is if the episodes in the show are fun. I honestly didn't see what the problem was with Rainbow Falls was, I thought it told a good story and it was entertaining. Equestria Girls? It had its problems but hell, I was entertained by it and that's all I really care about.

 

The only Brony reviewer I can really watch is joshscorcher and that's because the guy's a friend of mine and I know that a lot of the time he's joking around and playing a character.
