Least favorites as I've voted; Rainbow Dash, Princess Luna, Derpy.

And yes, I notice they're all the 'popular' characters in the fanbase. I don't think it's that I have some hipster complex (hehe) but..I just don't know. I feel like they're overrated.

 

Rainbow Dash always seems to come off as a person in my life that I wouldn't like, though. She seems very judgmental and fails to give several characters benefit of the doubt- always jumping to conclusions. She just seems so critical.

Rainbow Dash is my favorite, Rarity is my second favorite and they're the two ponies getting the most votes (Spike isn't a pony *insert Nicholas Cage meme here*). On top of that, Twilight is my LEAST favorite and she's the pony with the least amount of votes. I don't even hate her, I just like everyone else more. I feel like a total hipster now.

Least Favorite Secondary Character: Prince Blueblood

This guy has absolutely no redeeming qualities whatsoever, at least Trixie and Diamond Tiara can be amusing(normally I'd include Diamond Tiara, but Ponyville Confidential actually made her interesting). Blueballs just sucks

 

Least Favorite Tertiary character: Snips and Snails

Since background characters don't do much, I didn't put much effort into this, but these two are the only ones that do things that made me dislike them, so it wasn't hard

Least favorite characters:

 

Rainbow Dash. She's arrogant, with a careless disregard for other ponies' emotions and a will to succeed that often gets in the way of her friends, to the point that she overshadows all the rest of them. While this doesn't make her bad, the fact that she never redeems herself makes her shallow and one-sided. Not to mention that she never seems to learn anything.

 

Blueblood... need I say more?

 

Accidentally voted for Silver Spoon when I meant Diamond Tiara. Silver's merely trying to fit in with the popular crowd; I see a Babs-like redemption for her, leaving the true bully all alone.

 

And while we're on the subject, what's with all the Rarity-hate? 

 

The three reasons I've seen are: Selfish, Whiny, and Manipulative.

 

Selfish? The pony who overcame her crippling fear of dirt (coating herself in mud, as a matter of fact) just to make her sister happy? The pony who worked tirelessly for an entire day, both mentally and physically exhausting herself to help her friends?

 

Whiny? See the above work example. She never contradicted her friends' wishes, and only broke down when she was in the privacy of her own home in order to spare her friends the knowledge that she'd been devastated. While she did whine and complain, in an ear-splitting scene, to the Diamond Dogs, she did that only to gain her freedom. She's not a megamage, like Twilight, or strong like Applejack; she couldn't have fought her way out. She used the tools at hoof to escape, something Fluttershy, the pony appearing to be the fan favorite, could never have done.

 

Which brings me to the third point. Manipulative. This one's got some elements of truth to it. After all, she did manipulate the Diamond Dogs, the stallions at the Gala, and (depending on how you look at it) Spike. However, her talent with understanding how ponies' minds work ties directly into her generosity. She gives up things that are important to her in order to make others happy, and the best way she can do that is by knowing what makes them happy. The fact that she occasionally abuses this power doesn't make her a bad character, it makes her alive.

 

Everyone makes mistakes. (Except Luna, it seems, but that's another matter.) Rarity shines by learning from her mistakes and attempting to better herself for it. Rainbow Dash could do the same thing, but she doesn't. That, for me, is the difference between the top and bottom spots on my list.

I started to feel bad for my beloved AJ as well as Rainbow Dash, and then I saw how many votes Rarity had. >.<

 

Poor Rarity. I must confess, she's probably my sixth favorite of the Mane Six (I dislike using the term 'least' favorite in regards to her). But I don't see why she's deserving of all of this dislike. Rarity is great.

Seriously, what is with the Rarity hate? IMO she's the most interesting character in the mane six. I love the fact that she has all of the attributes of a High class snob, but is actually *nice*. Her generosity is not in just material items like dresses, but also in her ability to pick up in other ponies' feelings. Hell even in "Sonic Rainboom" she's the only one to pick up on the fact that something is bothering Rainbow Dash. And she more than any other pony is willing to reach outside of her comfort zone for the sake of her friends, whether it be running an obstacle course while covered in mud, or challenge a dragon to a fight if anything happens to Spike.

 

Even when she's behaving poorly she's the first to acknowledge her own flaws. When Fluttershy became a big time model, she was jealous, but she was so ashamed of herself for being jealous that she swallowed her pride and tried to be supportive of her friend.

Of the Mane Six, I don't care for Rarity.  I mean, I love her singing voice, but her attitude is just too uppity and melodramatic for my taste.  I've never been one who cares much for fashion, and a pony that makes clothes for ponies that generally don't wear clothes just seems... superfluous.  Not to mention she has the "Element of Generosity", and it always seems like she's in it for herself most of all.

 

Of the "secondary" characters on the list, it has to be Trixie.  It's again with the uppity-ness.  I don't like people with "holier-than-thou" attitudes.  But if you count ALL the "secondary" characters, it's actually Shining Armor.  I mean, Shining Armor is one that I WANT to like, but he just seems too two-dimensional.  I know it's the fate of being a stallion, but his character could use a bit more fleshing out.

 

As for the "tertiary", obviously Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon.  Bullies are scum, and it's NEVER okay to bully someone.

What I don't get is how Rarity gets knocked for being stuck up or snobbish, but Rainbow Dash talks about how *awesome* she is, and somehow gets a pass.  They're really not that different.  Like it or not, "Mysterious Mare Do Well" is canon, people. 

 

Really, Rainbow Dash being reluctant to read because that's for "eggheads" or rejecting Tank at first because he's not "cool" enough is in their own way kind of snobbish, you know. 

 

The point of this isn't to knock Rainbow Dash, by the way- it's just to say, "hey, Rarity's not the only one who's not perfect."

Of the Mane Six, Rainbow Dash is my least favorite. It was almost a flat out dislike during the first season, although she has grown on me as the series has progressed. Still, for the reasons Addem Up has given, she's the least fav. She's bullheaded, impatient, selfish, and she has some bullying tendencies. And it's true that she doesn't usually learn anything. It's all about being a "strong female character," cuz for a female to be strong, they gotta be a bitch too (Lightning from FFXIII, anyone? Not that I think she's really that bad, nor really a bitch per se, just obnoxious.) But she has grown on me. The episode that I've found her the most likable in is probably Hurricane Fluttershy. Also in Party of One when she went to get Pinkie Pie. She's got her nice moments, her cute moments, etc. I'm kinda glad the character didn't go the way Lauren Faust originally envisioned her to go.

 

Voted for Prince Blue Blood in the secondary category and Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon in the tertiary category. Even though Prince Blue Blood barely registers with me. Although Diamond Tiara and Sliver Spoon are definitely little brats. Really though, I recognize a lot of those names in the poll, but don't really remember who they belong to ^^;

 

I'm also somewhat disappointed to see Rarity with the most votes, and Spike in second. Those are Dodie16's two favorite characters, ya know! (Mine is... probably still Pinkie Pie? Though Rarity, Fluttershy, and Luna come in close behind.) But yeah; outrage on her behalf She will be embarrassed when I show her this EDIT: nevermind, I got a brohoof out of it. lol

Whoa, whoa, whoa, hold up there. Rainbow Dash is NOT a bully. In fact Rainbow Dash (along with Fluttershy) was bullied by Dumbbell and his friends when she was a filly (as seen on Sonic Rainboom). I too was bullied and Rainbow Dash is my favorite pony.

There are some characters I am less than fond of. Such as:
 
Gilda. No one likes a nasty bully. Especially when Fluttershy is on the recieving end of the bullying.
 
The "Great And Powerful" Trixie. An egotistical childish fraud. One of the the best parts of "Boast Busters" is

how Twilight confronts the giant bear after Trixie admits she is unable to, and the audience assumes this bear is the Ursa Major but it's actually only the Ursa Minor. Crazy!

 

 

Scootaloo. She is far less charming than Sweetie Belle or Apple Bloom. Too bratty.

 

I don't dislike any of the Mane Six but I like Rainbow Dash far less than the others. She should have Rarity and Fluttershy teach her how to be more of a lady.

Well, of course I didn't knock Scootaloo, she's best Crusader! And Prince Blueblood is Celestia's nephew. He's in The Best Night Ever.

Yeah, that's the only thing that bothers me about that episode. She uses her charm to manipulate Spike into giving her his ruby. Doesn't sound generous at all, to me!

I can't stand Fluttershy. She is such a spineless wimp! She adds an important dynamic to the show and I'm not saying she shoulde be cut... But I just think she is irritating. She needs to speak up and stop being so unsure  about things.
