I'm currently obsessed with one particular anime, but the rest has been a little dissapointing since people are always claiming how excellent they are. I haven't seen too much shows so I'll give it a chance and find more anime to watch.

I have no problems with the art, I actually like it, but it only looks good when it's animated properly.

If there is any good anime now I would watch it but currently it's just Naruto and One Piece. I still defend anime, it's just either there isn't any good ones left or they were only fun until you watch the same thing happening.

For example Fairy Tale just seems like a mishmash of other anime I've watched so it didn't catch my interest.

I like some anime. I'm really selective about it. I either like an anime, or I hate it. Most of the time I hate it. But every now and then I come across an anime I like.

I tend to view "anime" as just another type of show/movie. As such, I can't give people an overview of how I feel since it depends entirely on the show itself. I do have a number of anime shows that I love though.

Sorry to say - I am a fan.  Now, I'm not an Otaku, mind you... but I likes what I likes.

I dig the span of stories that Anime can offer.  Granted, traditional animation offers great stories too (I'm a HUGE Don Bluth fan), but I've seen some exquisite anime that tells stories I haven't found yet.

Grave Of The Fireflies is a good example of that.  Given the story's time period setting & the nature of the story itself, I don't think it would have translated as well into common animation; even Pixar would be hard-pressed to tell the same story with as much soul & depth.  Not slamming Pixar, either - just making a statement.

I love anime! I was reading through a lot of the replies here, and a lot of it was really negative..
I thought this community was a lot more opening and supportive, but I guess not..

If anybody ever wants to try watching anime though and wants a suggestion, feel free to message me! I can recommend you one based on what you like/are looking for in a show.
Just because one you watched wasn't interesting to you doesn't mean another wont be! There are plenty of shows/anime I don't like, but that doesn't mean they're bad. Just not for me!

I don't need a reason to not like anime. That's like asking someone why their favorite color is green instead of red. Of course these conversations almost always lead to unnecessary heated debates. It's quite unfortunate indeed. The most basic answer I can come up with for my reason to dislike the cartoon style is because I just don't like the way it looks. I don't hate anime. I just dislike it. And I'm just annoyed at some the rabid fans I run into once and a while.

I get the feeling. Some people equate not liking something to hating it, which is not true (at least not necessarily). It's frustrating when they keep pushing that, though. I have friends that aren't into MLP. I don't take offense or think they're hating. Anime fans can be just like MLP fans or Dr Who fans or any other type of fan when their enthusiasm leads them to start arguments and fights with people who aren't into the same things they are. I think the answer is just to be less emotional and more rational in such discussions (which I'm glad you and the OP seem to be doing).

I used to be an anime fan. I watched tons of shows years back. I eventually slipped out of it because I didn't find new shows to be interesting and I didn't have the time to crawl through old shows because of MLP. When it comes right down to it, I just focus my fan-energy on the things I enjoy the most. That's been MLP for the past 3 years. Maybe it will change in the future and maybe it won't.

I think the lesson of the day is to be respectful of other people and their likes/dislikes. If you want to drill into a deeper discussion of "why" then by all means. Just make sure the other person actually wants to and respect them if they don't. For the record, here's my own reason why I "dislike" anime: all the shows coming out feel the same to me and even the more supposedly unique ones are filled with so many cliches and stereotypes that I'm either disinterested or offended. Again, that's only my personal opinion and no person is expected, obligated, or implied to agree with it.

Only if it has massive tits and is non melodramatic (Although its mostly porn). But there are some general series that i don't mind, but i am not a huge fan.
