How and when did you become a brony?

June of 2012, I walked in when my brother had decided to see what the pony hype was about. I actually didn't know it was his first time watching episode 1 and I said voice dripping with venom "You're one of THOSE people?" his response was "What people?" I then went on an anti Brony rant even though I had no knowledge of bronies (before i became a brony I hated on everything and everybody). His response was "I've seen people dressing like this show at anime conventions for awhile now and I know that otakus don't like something unless it is worth it, so shut up sit down and watch it!" So we watchec the first episode I chuckled twice and got mildly interested at the return of Nightmare Moon. We watch episode two I was hooked, but I wouldn't let my brother know this, I said "I don't know lets watch a few more and I'll see if I like it..." After episode 4 he had to go to work nd I kept going. Later that week he caught me watching About Time on my own... So yeah mid June 2012 for me.

I first started watching the show sometime in 2013 due to my daughter having an interest (she's 4 now). And the characters just grew on me (especially Dashie and later PinkiePie). Now I watch the episodes on my own or with my daughter and I satisfy my merchandise craving by buying her loads of MLP stuff . My wife is ok with it as she also likes the show although I wouldn't call her a Brony just yet ;-).

I was around when Paleo was head of the anayslise community, the most view MLP video was that Rainbow Dash PMV with the pitched version of "Your Gonna Go Far Kid," the Derpy Controversy happened and heck, I was even around when there was all that drama about Lauren Faust leaving happened and B.D. I think I may possibly have told the story before. But I'll tell it again.

It all started on another forum. I had seen bronies for the first time, but I shook it off and thought "too immature for me..." Then I saw the memes. I thought they were amazing, and wanted to watch the show after seeing them, or some of them.

I decided to try watching the show on June 12, 2013 (four days before the theater release of Equestria Girls.) I felt truly happy after watching, for some reason. I have watched it ever since. I have watched most episodes two or three times, and Equestria Girls twice. I bought my first pony merchandise in November. A plush Twilight Sparkle, as well as a missing brony lanyard. I have made an OC. But he turned into something else. He's still technically a pony. But... Not Equestrian. It's complex, and kind of off-topic. I made another one, in an abandoned RP project. It was a pretty badly crafted OC, and an unofficial OC. Now I'm going off-topic. I tried not to... :C

I have no regrets. This show has made me happy, and entertained me. I probably wouldn't have a boyfriend right now either... I was rather surprised by the way that worked... By the way, that was only semi-relevant. It hardly mattered for the topic on-hand.

 

In short, I became a brony on the 12th of June, 2013 (Gregorian Calendar) and have had no regrets about it and have been happy since.

I first heard about this around Jan. 2013 first the information was archived under "wired".

Then nearly half a year later around 18th of August I had some free time and was bored like hell. So I thought to myself, if so many people watch this then there must be a reason why.

So I watched the first episode and the rest of the night I spend with watching the first season.

Soon after this I had watched the whole series and it was amazing.

I became a brony back in 2012, a lot my buddies were into the whole brony thing and I didn't know what MLP was all about, considering the previous gen I didn't think it would appeal to me. Then I decided to try for myself, see what it was like and after watching a few episodes I called my friends up and said "AW CRAP I'M A BRONY!!!"

When I was like 4-6 or something some of those old MLP shows were on (2nd-3rd Generation) and me and my sister used to watch them. I have been aware of it for a long time but when MLP FIM was produced I didn't even know and I didn't care. I heard about bronys in about 2012 and I though they were just watching 3rd or second generation because I was so oblivious. When I did hear about FIM I liked what I saw although I wasn't going to watch it because I don't really like old TV shows (except Doctor Who) I realised FIM was quite new around February and gave it a try. here I am

I think the slightly higher numbers later in the year relate to the exponential growth of the show, because in any year, you'd expect the later months to be more popular simply because they come later in general. Other than that, I'm actually really surprised at the results. I expected there to be spikes around holiday times or something. Come on Lauren, I'm expecting a redemption come April! gotta get those monthly numbers up

I know I've posted one about when I became a brony, but never HOW I became a brony. Basically it all started back last year on November, *flashback squiggles* and I've never really liked My Little Pony at all, but I guess if that was what you liked, that was what you liked. I didn't get ticked just cause you liked something I didn't. Anyways, I was on Youtube on a pony related video which I never knew was pony related, and I asked why is My Little Pony so good for you guys? Someone replied back saying, "Watch the first episode and you'll see why." I decided to check it out because I had nothing better to do. I watched the first part of the pilot and I thought to myself, "Well I can't end it there, I have to see the end after all or it won't cont as an episode if it has 2 parts" I continued watching episode after episode until finally found myself awake at 2:00 AM and almost done with Season 1. Ever since then I've watched My Little Pony, but it came with it's problems as well in my life. I couldn't tell ANYONE because EVERYONE would think I'm a (insert ANY kind of swears here) and just think I'm the odd one of the group. So that's the story of my brony life. It was evil and good to me, seeing as I stopped being depressed. By the way, now that I think of it, ever since I watched the show, I have been feeling happier as well! As if nothing could ruin my day full of sunshine (even though it was cloudy the day I first watched it).

 

 

EDIT: I also became one when I watched the PONY.MOV series and saw Smile HD, curious about what the show was about.

*clears throat* It was a day like any other i think a saturday sometime in the morning i was flipping through the channels and i stooped on a certain channel the episode was just starting it was episode 4 of the first season the Applebuck Season episode Applejack said her thing and then i heard it the "Eeyup, too big for you to handle on your own" so i started watching the rest of the show and i liked it but the first thought that went through my mind was "That guy is obviously that guy i need to see more of this Big Macintosh" so i did and ive loved the show ever since oh and this was while the series was 1/3 through the first season i think, i remember it well.

I've only been a brony for a small time, but my little 3 year old niece HAD to watch an episode - and she had to watch it with me. Ever since - it's just about taken over my life. Sure, there's school, video games, and The Simpsons - but nothing really lifts me up when upset like MLP.

Is normal to not know how and when you became a brony? Because that is what happened to me, I honestly don't know what got me into this sort of thing it just happened!  I became a brony just before season 4 released so I got to see the finale of season 3 and it was awesome! I went back to season 1 to get caught up and now I know everything! I listen to the music and I'm sure you all know how I got into it? -Discord by TheLivingTombstone begins to play- Haha yup! Anyway, I love you guys! I feel more welcome then I do on any other site! And that is simply awesome! So I thank Hasbro for giving me such a loving and caring family! /)

I became a brony around february 2013. But my first contact with mlp was already in 2011with ".mov"

my first thought was that it's a kind of parody of a internet animation called "charlie the unicorn"

Later in 2013 a german gaming youtube channell

called "giga" brought a top list of the 100 best tv

shows and mlp is within and i thought "wow that must be good, that grown men are watching this.

Later the channel "dasboshit" liked a video about bronies. Well and then i watched the show and i love it

Well....it all started when i received this special armor set if you look at my signature in Halo 4, a month after the games release.  So, im playing a regular match, and all of a suddenly, someone yells out to me, "We have a Brony".  Now, I responded, "what the hell is brony?", and the one who yelled it out, just remained silent, and noticed I didn't know what it was.  After a few minutes, my girlfriend tells me what a Brony is and it truly surprised me, but I was pretty much rejecting my gf to watch the show.  She eventually showed me the Brony Documentury, which literally blew my mind to the next world, lol.  Could not believe it, but i still didn't want to watch the show.  After days of my girlfriend begging me, i finally sat down and watch one episode, which apparently was with Gilda.  In less than 2 minutes, I realized that almost the main cast came directly out of Black Lagoon.  Eventually thats how i grew an interest in the show, which then I felt like Rainbow Dash, saying she's an egghead.  While me on the other say, "Im a Brony".  That's how it all started.   Sorry for the life story, but it was pretty wild.

I became a brony November 14th of 2013. When a friend simply asked for me to check it out. I went "well heck. i might as well check it out." Then the next thing that i knew i was watching the whole series. And still my parents don't know that i am one. And i am sure everyone is afraid of their parents finding out about it. I had my brother try and he just couldn't get into MLP because he likes more dark, comedy type genres. So i know there are people out there who can't get into it. So now you all know. There are some people that just can't get into a kids' program like my brother. You would have to know them before you even attempt anything like that if they like dark humor and stuff of that nature. Everypony have a great day!
