do you think Luna would be able to rule Equestria alone ?

Luna could never run as well as Celestia, she's way too childish to even attempt it. She threw a hissy fit when she didn't get her way, imagine what would happen if Celestia or the mane 6 wouldn't be there to stop her. Luna isn't ready, and should remain ruling with Celestia.

lmao, anyway, I don't believe she could on her own. And I'm not going to explain why because to be honest I'm too lazy.

If you read the Luna short comic from iBW then you see that Luna would probably run Equestria into the ground if she was in full control!

Nah, not really, mainly because Princess Celestia has had ruled Equestria for a millennium, which means she has an understanding on how it all works. Not just that, but Princess Luna is still adjusting to the new environment after being in the moon for so long.

Princess Celestia just gets Twilight to do her dirty work all the time at least Luna tries to help others herself by entering their dreams and visiting people like in the episodes " Sweetie Belles toils" and "Luna Eclipsed".

Please quote me so I can get a notification for it. :v

Princess Celestia puts Twilight through various tests to ensure she was ready to rule on her own. Celestia has been in charge of Equestria all by herself (when Luna was banished) so she must not be doing that bad of a job. And ruling and protecting an empire > entering dreams, one's more important than the other. Also Celestia visits people all the time, visiting others does not mean you're a good ruler. And just because Celestia fails from time to time doesn't mean she isn't fit for the job, at least she showed up doing the changeling invasion, unlike a certain somepony...

We all saw what happened when Luna tried to fit both roles: She nearly broke, and that was just Celestia's shift.

The argument could be made that whatever happened to Celestia to make her who she is now didn't happen to Luna, and that's why Luna is the younger sibling and Celestia is not. Anyhoof...

She's better staying where she is now: That one pony in the background, Celestia's sister, what's her name, the one that watches dreams and likes the nighttime and stuff.

I highly doubt that Luna would be able to rule over Equestria alone. The single argument I have ever heard to why Luna would be such a great leader is the fact that she shows up in ponies dreams and helps them with their problems. The problem with this is that if she would rule over Equestria herself, she wouldn't have time to keep showing up in ponies dreams.

Yeah, I can't see Luna managing to efficiently do her job alone. If anything she makes a pretty lousy monarch, she's already shown she doesn't really have the correct mental aptitude for it, and she frequently disagreed with Celestia on matters where it turned out Celestia was right. So yeah, I think its pretty obvious who's really the one holding Equestria together. Could be why Luna is often absent in matters of great importance to the land, she probably bucks it at the first sign of pressure.

Not to say she doesn't have her talents of course :comeatus: But I think she may be in the wrong vocation.

Not without some serious training, and some more experience with the various cultures that make up Equestria.

Considering that the comics are canon, then you have to take into consideration Luna's Micro Comic, the Reflections Arc of the main series, and the Luna/Pinkie Pie Friends Forever issue.

As we see, Luna seriously struggles with dealing with Celestia's day-to-day administrative routine, has l title patience in regards to some of the problems that ponies have, and still has a bad temper.

However, she has shown some promise, so there is hope, but only if she has assistance.

I'm pretty sure there was a comic about this somewhere that hit the nails right on their head... Luna is good and all, but I highly doubt she could ever be an effective leader of a developed nation. One needs much more than mere magical prowess and compassion to be a good leader.

Luna is insecure, ignorant of social customs, has difficulty with tone, and probably isn't very knowledgable of the world and it's nations like Celestia. She'd have issues with diplomacy, seeing the bigger picture and honestly she's the type to declare war for unfounded reasons. Not because she's evil, she isn't. But because her insecurities and fears may lead her to quickly misinterperate things. With her impulsive nature, things could get very bad, very quickly. Her sister is far more patient, wise and disciplined.

Still love Luna though. :P

Well, there are 2 parts to this.

1) Is she physically capable of raising both the sun & the moon?  If T could do it w no training or practice (in Twilight's Kingdom), then I'd say yes.

2) Is she as good as Celestia at court politics &  administration? Not only no, but HELL NO!  Still, Celestia has had over 1000 years practice.  It would be astonishing if L was anywhere near as good as C.

Considering some of the presidents the USA has had, I think L could learn to do it eventually.  However it might take a long time for her to get good & she might never be as good as L (Practice only gets you just so far, there is also talent to consider)  Still, the bureaucracy runs any country & EQ would survive (Ever watch a Britcom called Yes, Minister?)

If Luna was to assume full (or even 2/3) power, we would probably end up with Nazi Equestria. She has a highly unfit psychological profile for such a role. Ponies don't stay awake during your night? Destroy all life on the planet, and begin by brutally murdering your sister. She has a troubled, to not say depraved personality. She could probably precipitate on diplomatic affairs and do something extreme. Plus, she has little grasp with the modern world in general, and is probably very inexperienced with the political system. That doesn't make for an efficient government either.

Honestly if I was Celestia I would keep her in a limited role, and have the guards keep an eye on her. She definitely didn't come back to power in a trustworthy fashion, and appears to have a pretty low acceptance rate from the general public.

No. Just... no. She used ponies as literal chesspieces against their will. She threatened her assistant with physical violence, and eventually even shoved a patchment down his throat (He was a bit annoying, but he was just trying to help). She throws a temper tantrum when things doesn't go her way, and she is both very impulsive and domineering. It's scary that she enters other ponies dreams (She do seem to behave when she does that, but what if something happens in the dream that annoys her?).

Don't get me wrong. I like Luna as a character, but she would be a really bad ruler, unless she gets some serious training.

How could someone who sleeps during the day rule a country alone?

Simple. She'd do it at night, when everyone's asleep. That could make things easier for her since: no constant distractions. She'd be able to focus on the things that need get done, write up delegation lists for specific ponies to do specific tasks during the day. Come to think of it, ruling Equestria sounds like an incredibly boring career. I can imagine Luna getting bored with it very quickly.

Luna after being away all that time has difficulty communicating with the townsfolk of the modern age in the Nightmare Night episode. Celestia is much wiser and more mature from what we've seen not to mention Luna went crazy with jealousy because she had to control the night. Luna's still fun though!

Just watched this video and I think Luna would be a better ruler than Celestia =)

what do you guys think ?

I'd personally like to see nightmare celestia or some equivalent nopony's perfect i think she should have some major downfall somewhere so they could at least break even so luna wouldn't be the black sheep at the time
