Famous? Well, it depends on who you consider famous. ooBrony seems to be famous as being among the friendliest forum member. Lightwing is a famous shipper. Jeric is famous for breaking everything he gets access to. Feld0 is famous for being God. Simon is famous for being a killjoy.

Perhaps the key is being yourself, and when you're the best you that you can be, you'll be famous for it?

I wouldn't say there's a key way to be famous but rather different ways. For example, I got kind famous for the same reason Lightwing did plus being a big Pinkie fan. Other people like ooBrony and JonasDarkmare get get famous for being overly nice and welcoming. 

 

So just find something that you can do and show it around. Or you could do something really controversial.

And what's the point of being famous, I may ask?

The entire point of MLPForums is to offer the the most calm and friendly enviroment possible, where everyone can be themselves without worrying, and where everyone can talk with everyone without danger of biting(I guess). With wanting to be famous, you are kinda missing the entire point of this place, which tries to offer the "Friendliest community in the web".

 

Stop worrying about fame and just be yourself, and you'll see how you'll be happier than when pursuiting something as banal as "being famous", and even with a guide, it wouldn't be 100% sure that fame could be reached.

Would I be considered famous here? If so, what I think I'm famous for is having a strong personality and expressing my interest in PAC-MAN very much. If you have a big interest, you should share it a lot on the internet. At least, that's my advice. I doubt it'll work at all.

Fame is a very superficial thing to be pursuing. The main reasons for joining MLP Forums, as previous posters have said, are to discuss MLP and other things with other fans of the show. It just happens that this community is so welcoming that you can make friends in it, and so large that you can make lasting connections off of it.

 

I once tried to chase fame on this site, and believe me, in the times I've spent anonymously browsing all over the Internet, I can tell you that fame is not as desirable as it sounds, and is really a risky game not for the faint of heart.

 

The benefits of fame are very alluring. Popular members get their names plastered in every favoritist thread on this site, all of their friends' profiles, etc., maybe even get others to post blogs about them. There's power that comes with it, and you can get a lot of people who will do things for you.

 

However, there's a price that comes with fame. People will have either very high or very limited expectations for you, and if you have too many connections, it will be hard to get rid of them. Other people may become jealous of you, and you may expose yourself to harassment if you're too open about yourself or do something you may end up regretting.

 

Most people who are "famous" on this site and in this fandom usually have an immense talent or interest that catches the eye of other members. On this site particularly, it's the people who have a certain way with words to describe the show, the fandom, or others, have another talent to share like music or art, or display a strong interest or passion in other people or hobbies.

 

If you are not "famous", the psychological burnout of the meaningless pursuit of fame will probably catch up to you long before you can even dream of such a thing. If your only purpose in being on here is for fame, you will be terribly disappointed. You will be plagued by jealousy for those who have already attained "fame" on this site, and wonder why you haven't attained it. I did say that it was usually a great talent or personality trait that draws attention. However, you can spend months honing this talent or personality trait while others get all the attention and you don't. Such a paradox can lead to depression and the aforementioned burnout, and if you're not careful, you might end up doing or saying things you will regret.

 

I'd rather that you not worry yourself about the superficiality and fickleness of fame, and rather focus on things that matter. Be yourself, hone your skills and interests, but don't measure yourself against "competition" when you don't have to. It's nice to be noticed, but having all of the appreciation in the world is overrated. Be conscious of others, but don't make it the sole determinator of your self-worth. View counts and mentions are just a number. In the end, it's all about what you can do and not what kind of numbers you put up.
