spoiler Am I the only one who likes the CMC's Cutie marks?

I think they're perfect. They represent something so much more important than your regular cutie mark. If you were disappointed by them, would you honestly prefer them to just get cutie marks in singing, scooters and apples? God no, that would be the most predictable, asinine rubbish they could've done.

I'm not a medical expert, psychologist, psychiatrist, teacher or love doctor. Take my words with a pinch of salt, yeah?

I am an experienced cook, musician and care worker though, so that's something.

While I did say I was perhaps reading a lot more into heart of the marks then I should, I don't find it a stretch as you suggested to find this meaning.  It took a be of study, but these are actual heraldic meanings to a knights shield, and they aren't that far from the personalities of the three crusaders.

As to the free will debate, destiny and free will are not as mutually exclusive as you might think, you can have a destiny and a purpose in the world, but still have choice about how and if you follow it.

A thing about the marks is that they are generally more creative then the other ponies marks. Because they don't just have something like a Cloud and a Rainbow (Rainbow Dash), who would do better with a more racing like cutie mark.

They have a shield. The cutie mark crusaders as a group have a shield as a logo. Which is why I think the shield is a good element.

They also have their indivdual talents on their marks aswell. Except for Applebloom who continues the Apple Family trademark apple.

Sweetie Belle has a musical note because of her talent for singing.

We do not know about Scootaloo's yet, we reckon she will become a great flyer/racer one day though, because of the lightning bolt, the irony is funny..

Apple Bloom has an apple. Because she is in the apple family.

They seem to use this of a way of saying "I'm a cutie mark crusader" because of the shield.

I love them, too!

And to those complaining about all 3 of them being shields, think of it this way: Back in medivel times, knights would go on crusades with shields bearing their coat of arms, or symbol of their army or kingdom. The CMC having the same shield, but different symbols represent how they'll still continue to work together, this time to help others find their marks. The symbols within each of the shields on the Marks are the coat-of-arms of each CMC member

If you'll recall from Bloom and Gloom, one of Apple Bloom's fears was the Crusaders breaking up as a result of one of them getting their mark before the others; not even being friends anymore. Crusaders of the Lost Mark destroyed all fear of that!

Yes, actually.  But I'm not entirely unsatisfied with the way things turned out at the end of CotLM.

I'd have wanted the Cutie Mark Crusaders receiving their individual marks during episodes full of self-discovery and learn an important life lesson as a result.  And during one of those episodes they'd have also needed to make some sort of promise that they'd remain together as friends even after they'd all gotten their cutie marks.  I'm not sure how well the writers would have been able to pull that off though and I doubt it would have had the same impact as Crusaders of the Lost Mark.  Hence I felt that the episode wasn't a total disappointment.

I just posted that Rainbow Dash is herself a metaphorical rainbow-colored lightning bolt. I don't see how much clearer her mark can get

Good points, I agree with those. I was desperately trying to find a sample so I just picked a random one, lol.

I absolutely love their cutie marks! As soon as I saw them, they became some of my favorite cutie marks out of the whole show!

I mostly love how the cutie marks both represent the type of pony each of them is. Scootaloo's has a wing for a Pegasus, Apple Bloom's  has an apple for an Earth Pony, and Sweetie Bell's has a star for a Unicorn. I thought that was pretty neat.

They could've done that but the fact that they all got them together enhances the fact that their talent is friendship itself.

They're ok, everyone doesn't like them because they all have a shield on them or something. I'm neutral with them.

I love them because they're in the form of a "Heraldic device". The basic shape and colors define and link them forever as the very best of friends, while the inner pictograph define their specific talents. I think they're quite fitting for the girls. I think the ponies of Equestria should actually be very impressed. The CMC's matching Cutie Marks prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that they truly understand the Magic of Friendship.

I am in the group of really liking their Cutie Marks. They have a unique design, they have good colors and most importantly, they unify these characters as a group! That is the best part of it, they keep the beloved Cutie Mark Crusaders together. That, is pretty friggin cool. Plus they were marks that I never would have expected, so it really felt like much more of a surprise instead of just "Oh, yeah, saw that coming."

I like em', quite a bit.

Well times have changed, after 4 seasons they finally got them cutie marks. Yes, it's them growing up. Hey, eventually there would be a time where they'd be getting theirs. Of course, that does not mean that they have to go part ways (Forgot friendships?).

And yes, I like their cutie marks.

I actually like their cutie marks. I think some fans were conceded that the CMC would split up after they earned their cutie marks, because they weren't the cutie mark crusaders anymore. However, the fact that as a team they help other ponies discover what their cutie marks mean proves that they were meant to work together.

Oh yeah, in the Mane Attraction/Lena Hall episode, we DID see the CMC together for the last time, but hey, they did spent the last hours together. And within a doubt, their story has been completed.

  • 3 weeks later...

I'm pretty blah on their cutie marks. I think it was a lazy choice in terms of story writing and likely will be confusing for younger veiwers.

For me, I'm finding that all previous CMC episodes are worthless now for entertainment.

I think they look cool, but I have no idea what the f*** they mean

''Hmm.. yea, we have our cutie marks, we don't really have a point to be together anymore.. yea let's not be friends anymore''.

I was a tad confused at first, but I was too busy fangirling over Scootaloo's cutie mark to care (please fly). I really was quite certain their cutie marks would be different, but I can't say that I don't appreciate this new approach.

I thought the shield designs were cool, and Sweetie Bell's and Applebloom's cutie marks seemed fitting.

But seriously, ermahgerd, Scootaloo's cutie mark, tho! If she flies in the next season, that would be my absolute favorite moment of triumph in the show.

I don't, personally, because I feel like they threw away all the previous foreshadowing they had built up in favour of an overly quick and neat resolution to the plotline... although I think the episode itself was pretty topnotch.
