So with Jayson Thiessen gone...

So the S5 finale was the last time that Jayson thieson will be working on the show, focusing fully on the movie.

So, who's directing season 6 then? And do you think this indicates that the movie is going to be the end of the road for the show 100%?

EQD commentator DrForrester stated that Big Jim Miller will take over directing duties for the show. I don't know if there's any confirmation, but it won't surprise me if that's true.

I don't know. Given the speculation that season six won't air until at least the middle of next year, it won't surprise me, though.

I think people are too paranoid about the show nearly being over after the movie. I know our dhx media crew will not be here forever, but we can't knock off new people because we don't know their talent. I'm sticking to G4 getting 8-10 seasons and whether G5 continues G4's story, we'll need to see. The new G4 has iconic mascots for MLP. Just like Transformers has Optimus, Megatron, Iron Hide, Cyclonis, Starscream, Galvatron, Ultra Magnus, Sound Wave ect... MLP has the Mane 6 which I see lasting a long time. Lauren Faust is the best thing that happened to MLP period, and hopefully future generations of writers will treat all of the G4 characters with love and respect.

Well seeing as that's more staff leaving to do other things I would say this is another sign things are coming to an end. It may be the movie but it's still less resources being put into the regular show.

No matter how hard I try these ponies will simply never leave me.

I don't know, it could come to a fate like TLPS (The Littlest Pet Shop), I don't know if this means the end of the show or not. I personally can only say  "I don't know". To answer that question..

It's not less resources, its just a change in who's doing what. Less resources would mean something like there was no replacement for Jayson, but Jim's going to be taking up Jayson's role and Tim Stuby has rejoined the team and will be helping Jim as co-director.

I don't really know what this means.

How much of a change will this have on season 6 in general?

Is this a sign that the movie is the end of FIM?

Nobody knows.  We just need to wait and find out.

When Craig McCracken left the powerpuff girls to show to focus on the movie, the show went downhill and the exact same thing is happening here.

Jayson wasn't as involved with writing as Craig was, who was the creator and an executive producer. The director, at least for this show, is mainly just in charge of overlooking how the animation is being done. The most Jayson ever really did story-wise would be coming up with a few simple premises for episodes in season 5 and the premise for Pinkie Pride in season 4.

Unless you think that the animation quality is causing the show to go downhill.

in the song: we'll make our mark, I did see the usually butter-smooth animation have a lower frame rate. I could notice it quite a lot.

Seasons 4 and 5 are now my favorites seasons in the show, so I have to disagree with you here.

Honestly, It is not like Jayson left the entire team or something. He is still involved in FiM, but instead he is devoting his work on the movie now. While the end of the show is a scary thought, I think at the moment it is just speculation on what is going to happen after the movie. Staff leaving or changing position doesn't indicate anything.

What Kyoshi said ^^ - with Jason focusing his efforts on the feature doesn't necessarily mean he won't come back to the show. I wish I knew, but I don't know, and it's safe to say that even Jason doesn't even know. With him working on the feature, there was a shift of organizing for the directors, but nothing that was out of the ordinary - just what you'd expect from such a move. Big Jim is directing and a few others. The overall quality of the stories and animation shouldn't change a bit since they're working with pretty much the same crew as well.

It marks the end of his 6-year run... That doesn't mean he 100% won't come back when that's done. With the dancing chicken, felt animation, and sock dimension, I think he really likes working on the show.

It's better having show people working on the movie than a bunch of noobs.

Changing of creative people is not a bad thing if they are replaced with equaly competent people who love the show, there is not too many people leaving at once and if not everyone leaves, there should remain some people who were there from the begining to maintain quality.

I don't really think someone leaving the show indicates the end of the show. He indicates hes not returning to it though. So its a possibility that he will focus on movies now(possibly a another if it gets high ratings). Or he could just plan on leaving after the movie, no telling at this point

Either way; I know its doomsaying and there's others taking over his position; but this kind of solidifies in my mind the view that the movie will be the end of FIM, and they'll make a completely new g5 after S6/the movie. I figure if the movie does well they'll continue on with a sequel movie and keep the FIM timeline running that way but no more episodes, like how alot of animes end their run but will continue on with movies if there's sales.
