movies/tv Should Disney Re-make the Star Wars Prequels?

Now that Disney owns Lucas Films, should they remake the Star War prequels. Remaking movies, seems to be a common trend these days. Maybe the prequels should be given the same treatment.

Nope.  Disney is already planning on making a crap ton of Star Wars movies already so why should they remake the prequels.

I like the prequels as they are. Not perfect but still likable enough to have a special place in my heart. If they did they'd have to do all the movies.

I think that would just get confusing. Considering some people still get confused on the fact that the prequels came before the original 3 movies... I think people would just get more confused if there was another version of the prequels.

 

Also i think they are fine as they are. I mean the acting wasn't great but I wouldn't call them the worst movies ever made like some drama queens on the internet.

Given that the most recent movie uses many of the previous actors in their same roles... Remaking them would be a pretty stupid move, IMO. :v

literally no, the prequels don't need to be remade. as a whole there isn't anything wrong with them and they were all box office successes. ya some of the dialogue can be stilted at times (blame the writers not the actors), but a lot of the common critiques you hear about those three also apply to the ot, no one just wants to admit it.

 

so no they don't need to be remade, especially once you get off the internet and talk to others, most people like them. I rather enjoy them as they are, since they were some of the first star wars movies I saw c:

Seriously though, Disney is already going to do lots of movies and other spin-offs, remaking the prequels as well would just increase the number. And I think that would make the chronological order of the releases even more confusing.

No, there has already been enough changes as it is with all the different "remasters" and they are still making more Star Wars movies so it would make more sense if the franchise had been dormant for a while and they decided to bring it back.

No, and for the following reasons:

 

1. Revenge of the Sith is a pretty darn good film on it's own; it'd be a shame to see it thrown to the side.

 

2. Disney's plan includes Star Wars movies continuing after Return of the Jedi; revisiting prequels would be a waste of resources

 

3. Considering the new stories they are trying to tell, let the new generation of actors have their day.

As long as they don't make the same mistakes. if I would make the prequels it would be more like: Episode 1 about the beginning of Obi-Wan and Anakin, episode 2 about Anakin becoming Darth Vader (We all know that he'll join the dark side, waiting until episode 3 is unnecessary stretching the whole content) and episode 3 about the rise of the rebellion and Darth Vader's attempt to overthrow the emperor with his hidden apprentice*.

 

Came up with other fanfic-like ideas.

If you read the extended stories about Darth Vader you'll find out he had many secret apprentices to help him overthrowing the emperor. Remember when he asked Luke to help him overthrow the emperor in the 5th movie?

I have yet to see any of the movies (We just bought a used copy of A New Hope for $30, don't plan on buying anymore for a while) but remakes are almost never that great to begin with. Old movies should be left alone.

Honestly I'd have to say yes. These films had a lot of potential it's just that Lucas screwed it up. But in the right hands a remake of these could work out. Although so as not to completely insult the man I say they remake after he's (Lucas) dead.

I think that Disney will continue to pretend that they don't exist. They'll likely be more focused on making Episodes 7-9 into their own thing and extend the Star Wars universe going forward instead of looking back to the earlier mistakes of George Lucas.
