Trixie is still bad though, so the "formerly" part doesn't work. It must mean a reformed character like Discord of Diamond Tiara.

My vote is for Trixie since her redemption was kinda left up in the air and it was one that came after a really nasty power play (possessed or not).

 

I can see Twilight strong discouraging it. How well it plays out would depend greatly on the writing. Having Trixie walk away 'same same' or having this he a mutual lesson for both Trixie and Twi could both be great angles if done right.

 

Truthfully, it is a tall order either way. I'm hoping they stick the landing.

 

And I doubt it is Suri or Lightning. I am sure that their reappearances will feature Rarity and Dash respectively.

I doubt Trixie like many here since she seemed to leave on good terms with Twilight. Discord doesn't make sense as that would contradict What about Discord? And most other redeemed villains Twilight either doesn't know or is on good terms with them. So my guess is that it's a one-shot character we've never seen before.

So this is more or less confirmed to be a Twilight/Starlight paired episode, and episode 8 has been confirmed to be one as well. 

 

Which makes me curious as to how many of these episodes there will be this season, because it's already starting to feel like too many, especially considering that we haven't had a mane six ensemble episode yet. Hell, after last season, Fluttershy is in desperate need of some spotlight time herself. Hopefully the season will have some room to squeeze her in, you know, assuming Starlight actually isn't significantly prioritized over her.

So I though this could have been a Starlight Discord episode. Now think the other pony is Trixie like most people. Twiligh seemed to forgive her but not befriend her and Trixie is probably still egotustical and maybe Twilight thinks that could be a bad influence for Starlight. Who else it could it really be? Twilight would not stop Starlight from spending time with kids like Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon and I would not call kids bad ponies in any case (and why would Starlight befriend children). The only reason Twilight would not want Starlight spend time with Luna is because she is jealous of Starlight spending time with another princess lel. There are no other reformed ponies in my opinion.

 

But didn't Gauntlet of Fire synopsis talk about Spike's friends being kidnapped or something? So the synopsises might not be 100% accurate so it might not be a pony and Discord is still a possibility. But while I am a big Discord fan Trixie works too, it is forever since she has been in the show.

The Stalight/Twilight portion is probbaly just a framework of the story and a short bit, I would not call that a Starlight/Twilight episode.

I'm ashamed to say that I've been having a difficult time embracing Starlight Glimmer. I'm not looking forward to this episode as much since she's in it. I feel bad because I don't like not liking things having to do with MLP:FiM.

Panic everybody, it's a Starlight Glimmer Episode.

 

I think that this will be an episode, where Twilight will show her overprotective nature towards her student. She wants to teach her friendship, but at the sametime she dosen't let Starlight do things on her own and be herself, until she learns that even Starlight herself must find out these things for herself, even if these things are a mistake.

 

As for who this pony is, your guess is as good is mine. If it is Trixie, the fandom would explode.

 

I hope they don't use Discord anymore. That would be old news, even if a Starlight and Discord Episode sounds fun.

I wonder who the bad pony would be? As much as I'd love to see Sunset or Trixie again, I have a feeling there's little chances of that happening. Probably going to be a new character, because if it was Sunset/Trixie, I doubt Twilight would discourage Starlight from forming a friendship with 'em.

I'm gonna go on a limb and say it's Lightning Dust simply because 

- I feel like this is a character the Mane 6, or at least Twilight, haven't redeemed yet, or aren't in good terms with(which I feel would rule out Trixie)

- Big Jim himself has been teasing her for quite some time and really seems to want to see her again

- It's a character the mane 6 don't seem to trust

- I really don't want it to be Trixie :/

- Even if I did want Trixie, with the way Magic Duel ended, I'd think Twilight would be the one to give her a chance

 

Of course Flim Flam bros or Suri Polomare seem to be likely candidates too, but I'd much rather Dusty

I wouldn't worry about it. The season isn't anywhere near halfway over, there's still a lot more to see and I'm sure the episodes will start to have some variety.

It needs to be a pony who the Mane 6 know well, or at least Twilight knows well. It makes sense that it would be Trixie because Starlight is also very magically talented, so Twilight might fear that she might befriend Trixie and become evil again.

 

Also, I'm thinking Lightning Dust could be in Newbie Dash, but who knows.

Well about time we got a synopsis for this episode released.

Although it does worry me a bit that we might get yet another villain reformation in this episode.

After the season 5 finale, I am burnt out on even the possibility of antagonists getting reformed nowadays.  Especially seeing how the show isn't really all that good with it in the first place, outside of a few exceptions.

Hopefully it's Starlight interacting with an already reformed antagonist like Trixie or Discord or something.

Also it looks like we are getting two Twilight and former nega Twilight episodes rather close next to each other.

I hope we don't get too many of these kinds of episodes.

After season 5, Fluttershy really needs more episodes dedicated to herself, and I really don't want to see her get majorly overshadowed again. Especially to a character I haven't really warmed up to completely yet.

Hopefully this will be an interesting episode with some good interactions between Twilight and Starlight Glimmer with some good character development for both.

Lightning Dust almost got the mane 6 killed without showing any signs of remorse, I'd hardly say that "wasn't really that bad", and that could easily leave a bad impression on the other 6 even if she's more associated with Dash. And honestly, I can't see it making much sense if it was Trixie, with Twilight forgiving her at the end of Magic Duel, I feel like she'd be the one to give Trixie a chance, plus if we consider the comics(which I know most don't) she's about on good terms with everyone except Pinkie.

 

Plus if its a "redeemed" character, I'd like to feel it's a character the mane 6 didn't redeem themselves if Twilight wants to put a stop to a friendship

I think it's also possible that whoever Starlight befriends, they might end up done something suspicious to make Twilight not trust their supposed reformation rather than her not trusting the pony from the start.
