You know, it's getting more and more apparent to me. I haven't been a regular TV Watcher for a few years now, besides the occasional must watch stuff and it seems like as the years go by, more and more people are doing the same thing, especially the younger generation of us.

It makes absolutely no more sense for me, to actually watch TV anymore, considering the Internet is providing me with more entertainment, then i can actually handle. People don't want their programs to be decided anymore. They can do their own program, with streaming services like Netflix and Hulu and if Movie and TV Producers are smart, they should jump ship as soon as possible. There isn't much to get anymore on TV.

What is your take on this? Still watching TV? Are you not? Do you care?

Makes me kind of sad since I watch tv a lot. I've never really been a big fan of watching stuff on my computer because of the small screen and Netflix isn't really something I want to pay for. There are many things they do not have which is shown on a couple of cool channels. And there's just something about going through a bunch of channels in search for something interesting. With online services you only pick what you think looks promising, with tv you can find awesome stuff that you never would've even touched if you saw its name on Netflix.

I say GOOD. TV was one of the many tools that the media abused to misinform the public. The internet is more free form and harder to control.

Not to make this into a political discussion here, but i also agree with that. I get most of my information out of the internet from indenpendant sources and it makes me see the world in a more unbias way, then i maybe had 10 years ago.

It's surely slow, I'm not convinced on painful.

I think the future of TV is very much watching Programs On Demand- people's lives are busier than ever, so they dont have time to watch a program when it is one, but on demand allows people to watch when it suits them.

I've always said that regular TV has been on life-support for years now. With streaming services and even DVR, you can watch what you want, when you want to, pause whenever you feel like and come back to it without any issue. Can't do that with traditional TV; miss an episode of your favorite show, you're out of luck unless you torrent it anyway.

I haven't been a regular TV-watcher for years now and I am happy with that. I mean, I sorta miss the days of watching Nickelodeon nonstop and other stations, but these days it just isn't as good as it was and the internet is far more convenient.

I watch TV sometimes but I spend more time on things like Youtube now.  You can get so many video's online now I don't see too much of a point for cable TV to be around anymore.  A lot of the good shows are on Netflix and some channels have websites were you can watch TV shows on.

I think it will die out in the next 10 years and be replaced by streaming sites which still have ad breaks.

I very rarely watch actual TV now. I may put something on in the background whilst eating breakfast (mostly Modern Family) before college. I just stream everything now. I avoid ITV Player like the plague as it always seems to freeze for me -___- I just watch things like Britain's Got Talent on random streaming sites now (Gorillavid ftw)

With the prominence of streaming services now, I do think that people are watching less traditional TV. The only things I follow on TV is the Men in Blazers Show, and soccer. Everything else, including MLP, I just wait until it is released on Netflix or Amazon Prime.

That doesn't mean that the TV industry is dying, because TV networks are now turning to those streaming services to air their shows, and that has seemed to work out very well for them.

There are a few things I watch on TV, mostly cause streaming sites don't have it in the best quality, or it's in parts, or I just wanna see it on the big screen. Most if it is wrestling related, and WWE don't want their content on Youtube, cause that takes away subscribers for their network. Ring Of Honor is a bit behind the curve in terms of modernizing, still doing syndication. And Lucha Underground is the only real draw on the El Rey channel.

Outside of that, it's pretty much a stock pile of MLP season 6, the weekly One Punch Man English dub, and that's about it for regular viewing.  Most of my viewing time is on Youtube content. I don't really do netflix that often cause I don't have the time anymore.

I've recently gone into apartment living where I can't afford both cable and internet, and I'm actually finding it quite inconvenient. Here I get away from the night schedule so I'm actually awake to watch my shows, but now I can't watch them because I don't have cable.

My family has been so insistent on Netflix as an alternative. I have it. It is not a suitable alternative. It doesn't have Steven Universe. It is behind on My Little Pony Friendship is Magic. I can't watch Adult Swim and get to watch the One Piece dub. Plus, it doesn't have Doctor Who (which I never watched season 9).

Even if Netflix did fill in these gaps, there's something unique about getting to watch things on a schedule. I understand this is just a case where I'm old-fashioned and I could adapt, but really, I want cable back. =(

Plus news. The new format for TVs means that without cable I don't get any local channels, and thus no news. I can't keep up with the weather, which it is very nice (more like, necessary) to have it so I can see the direction of a storm with a tornado warning.

I watch plenty of shows but I don't need a broadcast service for that. Between DVD/Bluray and streaming services I have a choice in what I watch and I don't have to deal with commercials. I have never liked the existence of commercials and think they should be sequestered away to a time of day when they aren't interrupting things right in the middle of an episode.

I see no reason to pay for a service that I won't use 99% of. I only ever need two or three channels ever.

I haven't had cable in ten years and I will never ever ever ever go back. Watching things when I have time is much more important to me than watching things on a schedule that may or may not match my work and sleep schedules.

Not to mention if I don't even want to watch something for months at a time I don't have to risk seeing the once-a-year or one time only broadcasts of something. I can watch when I'm actually in the mood for it, maximizing enjoyment.

Since the last decade, I had been a believe of the "Watch what you want, when you want it" mentality.  Mainly because before the rise of Digital Distribution and Streaming Services like Netflix and Youtube, I use to buy alot of DVDs to watch when I want it.  It started with Anime like the original Mobile Suit Gundam and Sailor Moon Super S.  But in 2004, I started to expand my horizon to Western animation like Transformers: G1, most Hanna Barbera shows, and some Disney Treasures collections(Mostly Mickey Mouse).

Though I did get a kick out of finally going back to Cable TV In 2008, I've started to scale back after the rise of Digital media and Netflix.  Especially when alot of my favorite past shows are on the number 1 Streaming Service(Ex: Animaniacs, My Little Pony, Transformers: Prime, Power Rangers, Star Wars: The Clone Wars, most Marvel shows like Ultimate Spider-Man and Avengers, DC's Justice League, Family Guy and Futurama, Powerpuff Girls, and even The Magic School Bus.).  Not to mention I've been enjoying Youtube for providing enjoyable content for me to check out.

And to be honest, I would like for both Broadcast and Cable TV To fade away.  TV as a service feels more outdated and unnecessary, especially when you can stream news and sports on the internet.  Unfortunately, we have old fashioned executives who think the outdated model is still a boon.

Seems that way. People wanna make better use of their time, and TV takes that option away because their favorite shows are on specific hours, which might mess with their schedule. Perhaps Netflix is only the beginning of a huge change in people's lives, as with a low cost, you can watch virtually anything you want, anywhere.

TV has gone down in general. I only watch sports and action stuff really. I can't stand he ammont of reality shows. Too much. Housing and cooking channels are fine though. I was raised in the 90s and lived through the 2000s, which was perhaps one of the best decades for TV.

Not too surprising...

We live in a digital age, where everything is easily accessibly, and at our disposal.

Anyone can post anything and anyone can have easy access to it, not just companies, but individuals themselves.

Cable has been cut in my house, and we have saved 80 a month because of it, a good portion of dying TV is to probably blame on cable package cost, not everyone has enough money to keep everything going at once.

Content on TV has been mostly hit and miss with many consumers, some shows work, some don't. There is not too much creativity anymore, some ideas nowadays are carbon copies of others. A good majority of shows that exist on TV are sitcoms, both mature and family friendly, the idea seems kind of overused and not very creative, but instead uses an idea that is common with a majority of the consumers watching television.

Reboots and rehashes of cartoons and shows are not really big, depending on what previous work is being rebooted. An example is The Powerpuff Girls 2016; The old PPG had character and actual humor, that looked back at makes sense, while the 2016 cartoon has been reusing old memes from the Internet as jokes, when they are not humorous being shown on cable TV.

But just because these things happen on cable TV, doesn't happen too often with original web series. Netflix has had original series coming out for a while, some good, while some are not. Bojack Horseman is a prime example, while I have not seen it, I have heard good things about it. It proves that cable TV is sometimes restrictive on what content is allowed to be shown on TV, while the Internet is a sandbox of stories and ideas that many creative minds have birthed.

So, that is my giant theory about what is going on, I am probably wrong, so feel free to hate me. ;)
