Back in the 90s, Cartoon Network popped up and became a legendary channel for the many of us to watch. But, nowadays, they're in a steady decline, why? Low-quality shows (apart from Steven Universe and Adventure time, but just like Regular Show, they're eventually ending. Yes, that includes Gumball as well) contributed with the nonexistent action shows especially after DC Nation was pulled off the air for good means its become the dark age of Cartoon Network, following Nickelodeon as well.

I thought it was alright back in the day but it's not at all fun with them remaking shows like the Powerpuff girls and Teen titans and just...removing everything that made those shows great...like the drama, the action and the violence. I remember the Powerpuff girls always being so gory with them fighting monsters and now they're twerking? What kind of message is that sending to younger viewers? I kind of wish they had made another season of the old teen titans and not remade it into this baby show. I tried watching an episode and did not find it even remotely funny. I do hope that they make Hey Arnold the jungle movie and not ruin it.

Not really sure any more.

Cartoon Cartoon Fridays was my fave programming block at the time. If you have good segmented shows, there's only a win for you and its viewers. Over a period, there's gonna be a decline for some reason or another. That cannot be helped! CN is plain and simply, lazy. Nickelodeon -- just the same. We need the few good shows they have/had - multiplied.

Cartoon Network was really good during the days of the 1990s and early 2000s, but then cartoon quality began changing where creators just didn't want to do a good enough job and wanted to make something cheap that could be passed off as entertainment. Most cartoons nowadays pale in comparison to those of the past, yet some have proven real gems that have ushered in a new age.

Cartoon Network used to have great shows, but slowly they somewhat ended(?), and it's sad to see them slowly getting forgotten by the public.

Yes, there's good shows on the channel yet (You can see on my profile lol), but I miss the good ol' days watching Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends, The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy, Courage the Cowardly Dog, Codename: Kids Next DoorJohnny Bravo and much more.

Growing up, I was more of a Nick kid, but I loved Cartoon Network too. I think my favorite CN shows growing up were The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy, Codename: Kids Next Door, Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends, Camp Lazlo, Chowder, and Flapjack. As I got older, I also got into Dexter's Laboratory and The Powerpuff Girls (which I didn't see much of growing up).

I think I got a more positive opinion on modern CN than that everyone else that's posted in this thread so far. It's currently my favorite channel. Scheduling aside, I like most of their current lineup. The only 2 shows I don't like are Uncle Grandpa (though it's ending) and Teen Titans Go. Yes, that means I like the PPG reboot. I also like Adventure Time (which is ending but still around for a while), Gumball (who's fate after season 6 is actually uncertain), Steven Universe, Clarence, We Bare Bears, and Mighty Magiswords.

I get how the current state of Cartoon Network can be troubling, but I don't think it's in that much trouble yet. Adventure Time won't be ending until next year, and they still got other shows. I do agree it would be nice to hear something about upcoming shows. They actually announced a new one a few days ago, and while it would be nice if they got at least one or two more shows in the pipeline, I think it's at least good to know about that.

The problem for CN would be the lack of good action shows because they deemed them to be "too violent" for younger viewers, which I begged to differ, because I loved action shows back when I was young and violence never really scared me, but of course, there's always kids born in the 2000s or the 2010s are too scared-happy about them.

Furthermore, there were some greenlit shows that had potential, like Galactic: Kids Next Door, but were subsequently turned down by CN, thus ruining themselves of not wanting to save their failing channel.

I grew up preferring the styles of Nick and Disney over CN. The only stuff I watched on there was really their classic Tom & Jerry and Hanna-Barbera stuff. I'm kind of ashamed to say I'm not really a big fan of the stuff on there that's really popular today, mainly because I'm more of a traditionalist and not a fan of the art and writing styles, especially with some of the shows being very similar to each other in those respects. I'm talking about Steven UniverseAdventure Time, Regular Show, Clarence, and We Bare Bears mainly. I've seen two episodes of Steven, two of Adventure Time, and about four or five of We Bare Bears and I'll give it that they're decent, respectable shows deserving of their fanbases. They're just not the kind of shows I'd see myself following week after week as a matter of personal tastes and preferences.

The Amazing World of Gumball is really my favorite show on there. I admire the surreal takes on some stock sitcom tropes, the cultural awareness of its humor, and that the next episode as of the time of this post is going to be ripping on their notorious Chinese knockoff (Miracle Star), which is so accurate that the parody looks just like the actual knockoff and hawks the exact same kind of product. Its humor has the same kind of edginess to it that Gravity Falls had - relying mainly on the banter between its main characters, their reactions to the strange occurrences around them, and making jokes about pop culture, history, science, and like subjects that probably not even Animaniacs would have thought of, even if it was still around today. The only thing I wish it would have done better is to make its supporting cast more interesting. Outside of Gumball, Darwin, and Nicole, I can't really enjoy any of the other characters all that much and I hate Richard with the passion of a Tsar Bomba.

I can't comment from a particularly strong standpoint about Teen Titans Go or the new Powerpuff Girls, but I think the way TTG's creators address the criticisms from the fanbase is horrible and could be done a lot better. I have seen a couple of episodes of the new Powerpuff Girls and it seems to be written like such an average, nondescript, and uninspiring show that uses its franchise as a crutch, something which I really can't stand given the dominance established franchises have over the medium these days. It's not anything new to CN; I label The Looney Tunes Show and Sonic Boom guilty of the same and yet a majority of people actually like those shows.

I have seen some episodes of Magiswords and I find it enjoyable in small doses. I've followed the show's creator on DeviantArt since shortly before the show was picked up and he's a respectably talented artist.

As far as action cartoons go, it's mainly an issue of economics more than any decisions Cartoon Network is making. Original action cartoons have pretty much been on life support ever since Nick fumbled Korra and the creators of the Avatar franchise left TV in favor of digital comics. Only Disney seems particularly interested in cranking out shows based on the same 5 Marvel superheroes and Star Wars stories on a regular basis now. The reason is because action cartoons typically have higher budgets than comedy cartoons due to their more complex character and prop designs and higher standard of effects animation. As a result, action cartoons are more heavily reliant on merchandising and advertising to make back their dollar. But, wouldn't you know it, toy sales and advertiser interest are both going down at the same time, ratings are going down due to audience fragmentation and competition with other forms of entertainment, and licensing and endorsement deals are much harder to come by today for newer franchises than legacy ones from the Saturday Morning era. Although interest from teen and young adult audiences seems to be at an all-time high, this is still a very fickle niche audience contingent too small to justify any high level of investment. No one knows how to really deal with it.

As far as Cartoon Network's future goes, all I can say is that it doesn't look good if it's mainly in nostalgia revivals. However, the same experimental writing and art styles that started with AT and SU seem to be continuing with future original projects, so it may look good if you're a fan of those kinds of shows. Steven Universe does still seem to have quite a bit of life left in it considering it's still successful and in its fourth season.

Oddly, I never liked "Aqua Teen Hunger Force" when it was new. I find it very funny now.

(Hand Banana!)

I mostly just watch

The Amazing World of Gumball

Mighty Magiswords

Adventure Time

We Bare Bears

and the nightly line up. I don't really care for King of the Hill though.

I am and waiting for season three of

Rick and Morty

That show is comic gold!

While it is a bit concerning how currently very little new content has been announced.

Aside from the upcoming Ben 10 reboot, but that already aired overseas, and the whole Summer Camp Island show, I don't think it is as bad as some people say it is.

Steven Universe is still going strong and could possibly last to a 6th season, the same goes for Amazing World of Gumball, where we don't know if the 6th is going to be the last or not, CN still has We Bare Bears, and Adventure Time isn't ending until next year.

Plus with the really great success that was of Infinity Train, I expect it to get it's own series or miniseries sometime in the future.

Like many others here im old enough to grow up with Cartoon Network during the time of Kids Next Door, Johnny Bravo, Cow and Chicken, Dexters Lab, Camp Lazlo, Sheep in the Big City, Time Squad, Grim and Megas XLR. These were the shows I remember even if not all of them were particularly good...or watchable but it was that and the thousands of reruns of Hanna Barbera cartoons and Looney Toons. For me these shaped my childhood sense of humor but id like to think I can adapt to the changing times.

I admit I never got into Adventure Time and found it pretty...meh. I do enjoy Gumball for its animation styles and was surprised how serious the writer took Steven Universe. It could have just been a super hero show but they went in a much different direction than I thought they would and I can appreciate that. Not every show has to be zany or cookie cutter.

I dont think a good cartoon will ever age poorly. If its good you can show it to new or old audiences and it will still have the same effect and humor. So I dont consider the old better than the new or vice versa. I just think there are many different writers who want to tell a different show. Looney Toons are obviously different than the Looney Toons Show but I dont consider one being worse than the other. Its really just a difference of what you want. A well made character can be put in a mundane situation and a good writer can still make it just as good. I just admit there are alot of shows I just dont get and really dont like. But thats opinion.

I wouldn't hold my breath for it. CN will most likely turn it down, just like what they did to Galactic: Kids Next Door. And I'm betting their community is as cancerous as other certain communities would.

From what I've seen thus far OK KO is a pretty damn good show. Just has some very inconsistent and wonky animation is all.

Craig of the Creek is hit or miss with some great episodes like "Monster in the Garden" and "Bring Out Your Beast". But the majority are pretty lackluster and downright annoying. It's kinda like a lesser form of Clarence tbh... (those hand drawn background are utterly beautiful tho <3)

Yeah Cartoon Network right now just...sucks. Maybe if they didn't put on Teen Titans GO so damn often, and pay attention to the shows that are actually good (Gumball, Steven Universe, and Adventure Time for example) I would actually consider them any good.

Also I am sick of how the network treats Steven Universe, it's their fault so much content is held back. I feel bad for the crewniverse.
