web Anyone else prefer forums to social media?

I prefer forums as I think they're good places to hang out and discuss something your interested in, eg. MLP for this place. I'm not on any social media sites at all and never have been, I'm not really a fan of the idea of them and see them as a negative thing.

I like forums more than social media because they are better made for discussion and allowing people to be more open and honest imo.

My social media consists of Facebook with whatever family and 2 or 3 people I wanted to remember after school and college, and then it functions more as a news like thing for me: I have liked the grain, farming, ranching, and livestock markets/companies(and etc) so its basically just news about my industry, agriculture. 

I really like forums alot better because I can ask a completely stupid question, and probably not get beat up over it, and if I do, its anonymous and I can continue on or disappear and the sign up again as a completely new and innocent user...which I've had to do on a few agricultural forums before...due to said stupid questions...But overall they seem to be alot more useful compared to searching or asking for info in a Facebook group.

I don't have facebook, myspace etc. I have enough by the stuff I encounter on youtube.  So I would also say I prefer forums because I've got a long history of forums even if in the last years I used them less and less (this forum is an exception).

I prefer the forums cause if I had actual social media, I wouldn’t have too many people to regularly contact

I prefer it here, where usually only a few people that I know and like see the things I post. In the social media I'd feel too exposed to all the haters and other unfriendly people.

At this point, I just use social media to stay in contact with very close friends who use it and also to follow artists I like.

Otherwise I'm really not fond of general social media culture at all.

I've been on forums for a long time. Social media things like Twitter sort of suit me a little more since I'm not much for friendships over the net and people are more impersonal there, but forums will always be more comfortable for me. I can't really explain why.

I very much prefer forums over social media. I just want to post my opinion on a certain topic and maybe discuss that topic a bit with other people who are interested in it. Beyond that, I really don't care to share anything about my life, or read about the things other people are up to.

I don't use social media - I don't even have a facebook or twitter account. Forums are better, since they are topic-oriented.
