Josh Haber may return as Story Editor

It seems like Josh Haber is returning to story editor next season, and I guess it'll cause a bit of an uproar here

 

It's not that I hated S6, but it did felt like a step down, which only will accentuate by this season, which has been amazing so far

Read about it on EQD. Last season and this one really show us how important it is to have a quality editor working on the show. Last season, Haber could've done a lot more if he allegedly kept his team in check. OTOH, Season 7 is mostly new writers, yet the quality control is far greater here.

Given how both seasosn 6 and 7 turned out, I am a bit disappointed to hear this.

But if he is co story editor, hopefully the other story editor would be the lady writers who have done great work this season.

Ugh, I've said it before, but while I like Haber as a writer, he did a really poor job as editor. Well, I guess I got to wait and see.

really don't feel like haber *cares* about FIM either. He jumped to skylanders the second he got that opportunity, and his tweets about "winging it" on lore and pre-established facts in the world or whatnot just give off an air of not really caring (Compare to larson stating that writers have a responsibility to watch all previous episodes and keep 100% up to date on lore for whatever they're writing)

Which Lewis and Songco clearly did, I was not expecting the Mayor Mare pink hair callback in Perfect Pear. It was just a two second joke from season two.

Haber's a fine writer and can write and edit a good Spike. Unfortunately, his ability as editor wasn't very good. OTOH, McCarthy wasn't a really good editor, either, in seasons 3 and four. Took her till the second half of the fifth for her to finally get into the groove.

If McCarthy can take two-plus years to edit well, so can Haber and whoever he'll work with as editor.

Lewis and Songco really are incredible, I gotta admit that. Easily the best people on the series right now.

'Tis a really clever Easter Egg. If past episodes produce something interesting, even as a cameo, why not bring it back at the right time.

Speaking of easter eggs, I'm wondering how the Pony of shadows is going to be worked in, given how it was a throwaway line in castlemania.

Kind of hoping its true, I'd be way more hyped for the finale if it turned out to be lewis and songco and not haber writing it.

Nah to the tirek thing, I remember that being a fan theory, but to my knowledge that was jossed by the staff in a tweet at some point. (I seem to remember a tweet being made about it, I Hope my memories not playing tricks on me there >.<)

I really hope the Lady Writers stay on as story editors. I detest Haber as lead writer, he does not know how to make a good arc, and his own episodes were subpar to decent.

YOure right he has co-writing credit, so maybe he didn't actually do anything and it's just a idea credit since he came up with The Whole pony of shadows thing.

Besides the fact that I disagree and thought McCarthy was a great editor in both those seasons, even with the worst episodes of her seasons I still felt like she cared. With Haber I still wonder if he actually looked at what he was editing, considering some of the easily avoidable bullshit he let get through

Maybe. I prefer if he came with idea's, but didn't do any writing. I personally have nothing against Haber, but S6 was not so good as the other seasons overall.

Okay now being serious I am actually neutral on the idea. I didn't mind him at all but I absolutely love the Lady Writers as SE and would hate to see them step down.

This, it's fine to dislike his previous work, but remember you're criticizing his time as a story editor most of which he did before any fan feedback could even be seen or heard. Now he would have the chance to improve thanks to the criticism. If he doesn't then we have a problem with him, but all we can do is wait.
