So just a little spoiler alert for those who aren't aware, it seem after seeing this picture, it look like S8 is happening. But not only that,  looks to me there will be a school of friendship?? And a female changeling?? how is that possible?  There's also a new merchandise as well corresponded to this.

Given the direction the show has gone with having the mane 6 teach others about friendship due to the introduction of the Cutie Map in season 5, as well as having Twilight be an actual teacher in Twilight Time in season 4, this feels like a natural progression for what the show has been doing lately.

So having the mane 6 open up a friendship school as an ongoing plot line for season 8, definitely seems like something the show would do.

I am actually liking this idea way more than anything like the friendship journal being published, which apparently was a disaster. Here, they can actually have guidelines, like 'Don't be assholes!'. This way, Equestria can actually better itself rather than degenerate itself into stupidity like in Fame and Misfortune. Not sure on the plot potential of that though if it happens to be a recurring thing.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to the new season.

unless its a feminine male  changeling.. I'm not quite sure about it gender (despite of it voice), but one i believe all changelings are males unless they happen to be a hermaphrodite. But that would too complex for a kid's show. If you look closely at that changeling's nuzzle its slightly smaller than any other changelings included the one up here. and you can tell she's a female. She might be special.

I'm more interested of who will be the protagonist for S8, given Twilight's status the last few seasons and the fact that she hasn't appeared in the last three 3 episodes, the show can not continue having her as the main character, show needs to start thinking outside the box and make her a supporting character from S8 onwards to keep the show good.

I really do hope that the building it's in is the re-built Castle of the Two Sisters, because one of the things that has been kind of bothering me since the end of season 4 is how they built up this whole thing about how everyone was working to re-build Celestia & Luna's old castle, then they COMPLETELY drop it when Twilight gets her swanky new rainbow crystal tree castle during the finale, so it would be awesome if they re-visit that, but that's just me.

I think that changeling may be Chrysalis' card in the premiere. For a reason, she collected a hair and a pic of each Mane6, and I think she may be product of that. Her having the same eye-shape of Fluttershy helps

@TBD we know that the hive can have females. They had a Queen. What we don't know is how rare they are.

As in the female Changeling we see in the promo image is a result of her doing some sort of 'cloning' spell? That may be legit because I can see the ultimate resolution to that being to show the 'clones' the meaning of friendship and thereby thwarting Chrysalis' plan ... again. This may give Twilight the idea for the institution.

I have a feeling that had they not redeemed the race that we would have likely not seen any females besides the Queen. Though there are usually many females in communal insect groups, we hadn't seen any obvious signs of another female. Once they were redeemed I expected it though. 

I just want you know if the variations mean anything. Some have unique horns, some have those gem-like protrusions on their upper body.

Oh no! Please no! The legends need to be a one-time thing. If they return, and they STAY returned, that's just gonna make things weird. If they came back and then sacrificed themselves to stop the Pony of Shadows, then that would be a better ending. They shouldn't stay.

I was thinking of this myself. I believe it is a creat move of the writers. However, I doubt how much students come to a friendship school.

I was wondering if the student body is going to be made primarily of students from other species in Equestria, so that it functions as a was to seed Friendship across Equestria and beyond. They could tie it into events of the film  that being the motivation for the school. Twilight and company run into a wider assortment of species and realize that they can spread friendship beyond their borders. 

Since we know Season 8 will have a Seapony named Silver Stream, it can easily fit.

It's could me that they will send them back in time to when they vanished.

I think it had to be existing characters since the mane 6 need to know that their student are in good hands.
